Disney's Live-Action 'Aladdin' Holds Open Casting Call for Leads

Disney is on the hunt for the next Jasmine and Aladdin. Is it you?

The Guy Ritchie-directed live-action adaptation of the classic animated feature has sent out a casting notice calling for Middle Eastern actors in the 18 to 25 age range to audition for its leads, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

“Aladdin” is set to be a movie-musical, so the notice reads “must be able to sing” and says dancing experience is “a plus.” Shooting will take place over an approximate six-month period, from July 2017 to January 2018, in the U.K., with rehearsals beginning in April.

Scott Weinger and Linda Larkin voiced Aladdin and Jasmine in the 1992 animated feature, which follows a street-wise youth who tries to woo a princess and defeat an evil sorcerer after he stumbles upon a magic lamp and is granted three wishes by a genie trapped trapped inside.

Big Fish writer John August penned the screenplay for the feature, which is being produced by Dan Lin via his Lin Pictures banner, with Jonathan Eirich executive producing.

Recently, Disney had a similar casting call for the leads in the live-action Mulan remake, asking that those who audition speak “fluent English and Mandarin Chinese.” The casting notice was posted on Twitter earlier on Thursday.

Invite Friends to Be Your Guest with Gorgeous Beauty and the Beast Coasters

Beauty and the Beast Coasters

Be Our Guest is the ultimate theme in Disney home entertaining in my opinion! Using coasters are a great way to not only protect your furniture surfaces, but to add extra Disney themes as well! These Beauty and the Beast Coasters by HeighHoGrotto are beautiful, and mimic the stained glass story boards from the original movie.

This is a handmade set of four Beauty and the Beast ‘Stained Glass’ Coasters. The coasters are waterproof and won’t warp when a hot drink is placed on them. They are made from ceramic and have felt on the bottoms to prevent scratches on your surfaces. I love that they are heavy duty, and not flimsy plastic. I like my Disney themed items to last so I can use them over and over again! If you’re looking for other Disney themes, they have many other character designs available too!

Would you entertain your guests with these fabulous Beauty and the Beast Coasters?

Disney’s Turkey Legs Aren’t What They Seem According to Tangled’s Zachary Levi

Disney Turkey Legs

Zachary Levi who many of you know as Flynn Rider from Disney’s Tangled franchise was on Conan O’Brien this week where he leveled some very serious accusations against one of Disneyland and Disney World’s much-loved snack –  the legendary Turkey Leg.

This origins of this famed snack have long been the stuff of speculation due namely to its sheer size, leading to rumors that it doesn’t come from turkeys but rather other large birds.   During his interview, Levi claimed that he had friends that worked at Disneyland who confirmed that the legs were in fact Emu.  Check out his clip here:

However, Disney insiders were quick to jump in and refute these claims.  According to enewsonline.com Robert Adams, executive chef at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom released the following statement “We hear that all the time.  They’re real turkeys. It’s what they are.”

Next time you’re at Disneyland or Walt Disney World be sure to try them out for yourself and make up your own mind.   However, we here at Chip and Co have to agree with the following:

Also don’t miss Zachary Levi who will reprise his role as Flynn Rider along with Mandy Moore in “Tangled the Series” which made it’s début on the Disney Channel yesterday (March 10, 2017).

Disney Animators Reveal Character Cameos Across Iconic Films in “Disney Easter Eggs”

Disney released the third episode in its viral “Easter Eggs” series, which reveals the connective thread between Disney films as seen in hidden moments and character cameos.

For instance, did you know that Mrs. Potts from Beauty and the Beast was featured as a drum set in Tarzan? Or that Sebastian from The Little Mermaid was in Aladdin?

“Disney Easter Eggs” dives into these connections that many moviegoers might miss if they blink. The episode connects Walt Disney Animation Studios’ favorite films – from Frozen, Zootopia and Tangled to Sleeping Beauty, The Little Mermaid and more.

“Avatar 2” Release Date Pushed Back

“Avatar 2” Release Date Pushed Back

James Cameron has been working hard with Disney’s Imagineers to create Pandora – The World of Avatar for Walt Disney World, so sometimes other things get put on pause. Such as the sequels to the film the new land is based on.

When last announced, Avatar 2 was slated to open in December 2018. But now James Cameron tells The Star that date won’t be met:

Well, 2018 is not happening. We haven’t announced a firm release date. What people have to understand is that this is a cadence of releases. So we’re not making Avatar 2. We’re making Avatar 2, 3, 4 and 5. It’s an epic undertaking. It’s not unlike building the Three Gorges dam. (Laughs) So I know where I’m going to be for the next eight years of my life. It’s not an unreasonable time frame if you think about it. It took us four-and-a-half years to make one movie and now we’re making four. We’re full tilt boogie right now. This is my day job and pretty soon we’ll be 24-7. We’re pretty well designed on all our creatures and sets. It’s pretty exciting stuff. I wish I could share with the world. But we have to preserve a certain amount of showmanship and we’re going to draw that curtain when the time is right.

The expansion of Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park, however, will open on May 27th, 2017, set in a timeframe long after all the Avatar films, when humans and the Na’vi are at peace with one another.
