Disneyland Resort’s Paradise Pier to Be Revamped as Pixar Pier in 2018

Exciting changes are going to be taking place at Disney California Adventure Park’s Paradise Pier area with the announcement at D23 today that it is being transformed into Pixar Pier. The Pier will will feature a brand-new look and neighborhoods featuring and inspired by many of the characters from your favorite Pixar films including “The Incredibles” “Toy Story” and “Inside Out”

Pixar Pier is expected to be completed in 2018 and to ring in the transformation, Disneyland will be throwing a special Pixar Fest! event. During this time guests will be able to experience even more Pixar magic as the entire Disneyland Resort area will come alive with your favorite Pixar Stories.

At Disneyland Park, the celebration will start with a new fireworks spectacular as well as the return of the much-loved Pixar Play Parade. Also and to the utter delight of Disneyland-fans, the “Paint the Night” parade will return (after its recent hiatus to make way for the Main Street Electrical Parade which closes on August 20th.)

Disney hasn’t reveal any official news regarding an opening date for the new Pixar Pier but keep following along with Chip and Co. and we promise to keep you posted.

Fans at D23 got an exclusive look at photos from the upcoming season of Once Upon a Time. Co-creators and executive producers Eddy Kitsis and Adam Horowitz revealed an exclusive photo of Cinderella and adult Henry from the upcoming season of “Once Upon A Time” at the D23 Expo 2017 on Saturday, July 15th.

A still of Cinderella was also revealed, Cinderella who will have an alias name of “Jacinda” will be played by Dania Ramirez (from Heroes and Entourage). These exclusive new photos show the incredible detailing on Cinderella’s pale blue dress, and all I can say is WOW! The set date for the premiere has still not been announced, but will return on Fridays this fall.

Gondolas and Minnie Vehicles Coming To Walt Disney World Resort

Getting around Walt Disney World is about to get a lot easier. A new gondola transportation system is being implemented across the resort. Bob Chapek, Chairman of Walt Disney Parks & Resorts just announced that the Disney Skyliner will soon give guests a bird’s-eye view of Walt Disney World Resort.

The new Disney Skyliner gondolas will connect Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, Disney’s Pop Century Resort, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, plus other locations with Disney’s Hollywood Studios and the International Gateway at Epcot. And because it’s Disney many of the gondolas will feature favorite Disney characters.

A second transportation service featuring Minnie-themed vehicles were also announced at the Walt Disney Parks and Resorts presentation at D23 Expo 2017.

“Since we’re all about exceeding guest expectations and making every aspect of your vacation uniquely Disney, we’re creating a new point-to-point transportation service in a way that only Disney can do,” Bob said.

Although not a true “Minnie Van”, it appears that this vehicle is a Chevy Traverse and will transport guests around the Walt Disney World resort in an “uber-like” fashion.

Spaced-Themed Restaurant Taking Shape at Epcot

One of the big announcements to come out of this weekend’s D23 Expo is that Epcot will getting a new space-aged eatery offering one of the most unique dining experiences available on Walt Disney World property

The new restaurant will give diners the feeling that they are in orbit as they will be surrounding with breathtaking panoramic views from high above the Earth and will built adjacent to the parks Mission: Space attraction.

Walt Disney Imagineer Tom Fitzgerald had this to say about this new dining location, “We know our guests love dining at Epcot – and the restaurants really are out of this world. Now we’re about to create one that takes that literally.”

The new space restaurant will be operated by the Patina Restaurant Group which operates several other restaurants at Walt Disney World including Tutto Italia and Via Napoli at Epcot and Morimoto Asia at Disney Springs.

The Art of Marvel is coming to Disney’s Hotel New York at Disneyland Paris! Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman Bob Chapek unveiled the “reImagination” of the Disney’s Hotel New York into a new Marvel-themed experience.

“We’re going to create a hotel at Disneyland Paris that would make Tony Stark proud,” Bob said. “I’m thrilled to announce that Disney’s Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel will transport our guests to the action-packed, inspiring world of Super Heroes including Iron Man, The Avengers, and Spider Man among others!”

Guests will be able to explore the Marvel Universe through its comic art, films, Super Hero costumes and more, displayed in the style of a contemporary art gallery.

Surprise! Disney is Adding Three New Cruise Ships Instead of Two!

Disney fans attending D23 in Anaheim got a huge surprise today. They were the first to hear that Disney Cruise Line is planning not two, but three new ships in the next phase of expansion. By the time these three ships are sailing, Disney will have nearly doubled the size of their current fleet! That means more families than ever before will be visiting spectacular destinations around the globe and creating magical memories at sea!

Last year, Disney announced two new ships were going to be built at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany with scheduled completion dates of 2021 and 2023. This additional ship will be built at the same shipyard and is scheduled to be completed in 2022.

“We decided two ships wouldn’t be enough to hold all of the exciting new experiences we have been dreaming up to take family cruise vacations to a whole new level with immersive Disney storytelling, world-class family entertainment, and imaginative innovations that are fantastically fun and uniquely Disney,” Bob Chapek, Chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, said.

All ship names, design plans and itineraries are still in development, with each of the ships expected to have their own unique experiences. The three new ships will be powered by clean-burning liquefied natural gas and be the same size – approximately 135,000 gross tons with about 1,250 guest staterooms planned – which is slightly larger than the newest Disney Cruise Line ships, the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy.

With a legacy of revolutionary design, Disney Cruise Line’s new ships will usher in the next generation of innovative cruise experiences designed especially for families that will transform the art-of-cruising and take guests on adventures in a way never dreamed of before.

Guests at today’s D23 Panel were also treated to a glimpse of the new “Beauty and the Beast” musical production coming to the Disney Dream on Disney Cruise Line, currently in production in Toronto.

Toy Story Land Will Open Summer Of 2018 At Hollywood Studios As we previously reported, the opening of Toy Story Land was announced today at the D23 Expo. Bob Chapek, Chairman of Walt Disney Parks & Resorts just revealed that the land will open next summer!

Here are Disney’s descriptions of the experiences we’ll get to enjoy in 2018:

You’ll find yourself shrunk to the size of a toy to explore the world of Andy’s backyard with your favorite Toy Story characters, including Woody and Buzz. And Toy Story Land will feature two new themed attractions.

Slinky Dog Dash will be a family coaster attraction where you’ll zip, dodge and dash around many turns and drops that Andy has created to really make Slinky and his coils stretch to his limits.
Alien Swirling Saucers will also be a new attraction at Toy Story Land. It’s designed as a toy play set that Andy got from Pizza Planet, inspired by the first “Toy Story” film. Aliens are flying around in their toy flying saucers and trying to capture your rocket toy vehicle with “The Claw.”

New Theater for World-Class Entertainment Coming to Walt Disney World Resort

Plans for a new venue to host world-class entertainment are in the works for Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom. A preview of the new theater was just unveiled at the D23 Expo 2017.

The exterior of the theater is designed to resemble the iconic Willis Wood theater in 1920s Kansas City. This is were Walt lived after moving from Marceline.

“Across Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, we’ve been upping the game in Entertainment with shows like Frozen Live at the Hyperion,” Bob Chapek, Chairman of Walt Disney Parks & Resorts said. “It’s been a huge hit at the Disneyland Resort, and I’m sure many of you have seen it. This new theater at Walt Disney World continues that streak by bringing a new venue for world-class entertainment to the world’s biggest park.”

An all new Disney Vacation Club resort is coming to the Walt Disney World Resort. Bob Chapek, Chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts revealed the breaking news at the D23 Expo today. Disney Riviera Resort will be located near Epcot and will connect with areas on the Walt Disney World property with a new skyway transportation system.

“We’re thrilled to announce plans for a new Disney Vacation Club property called Disney Riviera Resort coming to Walt Disney World Resort,” Chapek said. “Our Vacation Club Members are among our most loyal fans, and we think that they will love what we have planned, especially the rooftop restaurant that will offer unbelievable views of nighttime spectaculars at both Epcot and Hollywood Studios.”

Disney Skyliner, the all new gondola transportation system was announced as well. The gondola system will give guests a whole new view of the Walt Disney Wold property, taking guests soaring through the skies the tranportation will including the following resorts:

Disney Riviera Resort
Disney’s Art of Animation
Pop Century
Carribean Beach

with connections to:

Hollywood Studios
International Gateway at Epcot

Rumors were circulating earlier this year that a Star Wars-themed resort would be coming to Walt Disney World. We can now confirm this rumor as Bob Chapek, Chairman of Walt Disney Parks & Resorts, just confirmed this new Star Wars-inspired resort will debut as part of the new Disney 360 vacation concept.

According to Bob, this revolutionary new vacation experience will be a living adventure that allows guests to immerse themselves in an entirely new form of Disney storytelling.

“It’s unlike anything that exists today.” Bob said. “From the second you arrive, you will become a part of a Star Wars story! You’ll immediately become a citizen of the galaxy and experience all that entails, including dressing up in the proper attire. Once you leave Earth, you will discover a starship alive with characters, stories, and adventures that unfold all around you. It is 100% immersive, and the story will touch every single minute of your day, and it will culminate in a unique journey for every person who visits.”

TRON the extremely popular attraction at Shanghai Disneyland has just been announced that it will in fact be coming to Walt Disney World!

TRON Lightcycle Power Run Attraction Is Coming To Walt Disney World

Although it was previously speculated that this new attraction would be replacing Tomorrowland Speedway it has now been confirmed that will sit in an entirely new area right next to the Space Mountain attraction at Magic Kingdom Park.

The TRON Lightcycle Power Run attraction is a coaster-style attraction where riders board a train of two-wheeled Lightcycles. It offers access into the energy, lights and excitement of TRON’s high-tech universe and is one of the most thrilling adventures at any Disney park.
