Disney Offers a Sneak Peek of Magic Kingdom’s New “Happily Ever After” Fireworks Theme Song

Back in February, Walt Disney World officially announced that the much-loved Wishes evening fireworks display at the Magic Kingdom would close in May to make way for a new evening spectacular dubbed “Happily Ever After”. The show is slated to open on May 12 with the finishing touches currently falling into place.

To give us a taste of this new and exciting evening offering, Disney recently released a video showcasing the recording of the new “Happily Ever After” theme song. Check it out.

The new song features the vocal stylings of Jordan Fisher which Disney Channel fans will recognize from Liv and Maddie, and country western singer Angie Keilhauer.

This stunning new nighttime spectacular promises more lasers, lights, pyrotechnics and castle projections than anything Disney has done before. Characters and scenes from more than 25 Disney films will be featured through state-of-the-art projections, enhanced by more than 50 choreographed spotlights, brilliant lasers and plenty of awe-inspiring fireworks.

The score for “Happily Ever After” was recorded by a 75-piece orchestra in London and includes tunes from a multitude of Disney movies, including “Beauty and the Beast,” “Pirates of the Caribbean,” “The Jungle Book” and many more.

“Happily Ever After” will be presented nightly. Show times vary based on park hours.

Disney World’s Fort Wilderness Campground to Host “The Legend Of Sleepy Hollow” Event This Halloween

If you’re planning a visit to Walt Disney World this Halloween season, then you won’t want to miss the brand new and extra spooky event that Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground will be unveiling this year.

In year’s past, the campground has played host to a haunted hayride featuring appearances by The Headless Horseman. However, this year they’re upping the stakes and will begin offering a seasonal “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” event.

Here’s what we know so far. The focal point of this special evening is a screening of the classic 1949 Disney Animated film “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” which will be shown on select evenings at the Tri-Circle D Ranch. If that’s not scary enough for you, guests will then have an opportunity to rub elbows with the Headless Horseman himself who will be there to pose for photos. Attendees will also receive a limited-edition Headless Horseman pin with premium ticket holders also getting a bag filled with Halloween-themed goodies.

As of going to print, the event is slated to run on September 29th – 30th, each Thursday and Sunday in October as well as October 30th and 31st. The cost to attend will be $22 per person with premium seating setting guests back $38.

Tickets for this spooktacular event go on-sale 180 days in advance and tickets can be booked by calling 407.WDW.PLAY. The event is expected to be wildly popular so booking well in advance is strongly encouraged.

Lightning McQueen Getting Ready for Nationwide ‘Road to the Races’ Tour

To celebrate and promote his new upcoming film, Cars 3, Lightning McQueen is taking to the road in a Road the the Races Tour to visit fans. Life-size, character look-alikes of five-time Piston-Cup champion Lightning McQueen, tech-savvy trainer Cruz Ramirez and the sleek next-gen racer Jackson Storm will be rolling into 27 cities coast to coast to celebrate the new movie, which opens June 16, 2017.

The Tour begins today at Disney Springs from 12-7pm, and will end in Sonoma, CA at the Sonoma Raceway on June 25th. You can view more information and the full tour schedule here.

Mission Space to Undergo Refurbishment this Summer

We always hate to see when our favorite rides are closed for refurbishment, and we dislike it even more when it’s an extended closure as well. With that being said, we’re sad to report that we hear from WDW Magic that this summer Mission: SPACE will be closed for a lengthy refurbishment; beginning June 5th, and lasting through all of the month of July.

It has not officially been listed on Disney’s site as being under refurbishment this summer, so if the dates change we’ll be sure to let you know.

Breaking News: Bob Iger’s Contract Extended Through July 2nd, 2019

Rumors have been swirling that Disney CEO, Bob Iger, might extend his position of CEO if a successor was not appointed at the end of his current contract.

Today, CNBC has confirmed that The Walt Disney Company Board of Directors has has indeed extended Iger’s contract until July 2nd, 2017.

“Given Bob Iger’s outstanding leadership, his record of success in a changing media landscape, and his clear strategic vision for Disney’s future, it is obvious that the Company and its shareholders will be best served by his continued leadership as the Board conducts the robust process of identifying a successor and ensuring a smooth transition,” said Orin C. Smith, who is the lead independent director of Disney’s board.

“Mr. Iger has led The Walt Disney Company to unprecedented success during his 11 years as CEO, driving Disney to new creative heights, expanding the Company’s global reach, fostering technological innovation, and delivering year-after-year of record financial results,” Smith said. “During his tenure, Mr. Iger has created enormous value for shareholders, with total shareholder return of 448%, compared to 144% for the S&P 500, and a dramatic increase in the Company’s market capitalization to $177 billion from $46 billion.”

Variety reports that there is a pact that “calls for Iger to serve as a consultant to Disney for three years following his exit as CEO.”

“In addition to his regular salary, Iger is scheduled to receive a $5 million bonus in 2019 for sticking around another year, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing Thursday. When he shifts to consultant mode, he’ll earn $500,000 a quarter for the first two years, and $250,000 per quarter for his third year, per the filing.”

Disney Junior’s New ‘Puppy Dog Pals’ Woofs in Friday, April 14

Disney Junior‘s Pugtastic New Animated Series ‘Puppy Dog Pals,’ Premieres Friday, April 14, on Disney Channel! This pawsome new show is created by Comedian Harland Williams!

This cute new show will debut with two back-to- back episodes on Disney Channel on April 14th. It will also become available that day on the Disney Junior app and YouTube page.

The show follows two fun-loving pug brothers, Bingo and Rolly, whose thrill-seeking appetites take them on exhilarating adventures throughout their neighborhood and around the globe. Williams also serves as consulting producer and writer and voices the role of Bob, the pups’ devoted owner. Sean Coyle (“Mickey Mouse Clubhouse”) serves as executive producer.

Whether embarking on a mission to help their owner Bob or assisting a friend in need, the pugs’ motto is that life is more exciting with your best friend by your side. Along for the ride is their community of colorful animal pals including Bob’s cat Hissy and A.R.F., the lovable robot dog created by Bob. Each episode features two 11-minute stories that showcase Bingo and Rolly’s similarities and differences while demonstrating positive lessons about friendship, problem-solving, collaboration, creativity and adventure.

Recurring guest stars include: musician Huey Lewis as Bulworth, the junkyard dog; Patrick Warburton ( Kronk from the Emporer’s New Groove) as Captain Dog, the star of the pups’ favorite television show; Jack McBrayer (Fix it Felix from Wreck it Ralph) as Hedgie the hedgehog; Yvette Nicole Brown (Luna from Elena of Avalor) as Daisy, a kind German Shepherd; famed sportscaster Bob Uecker as a baseball announcer; Leslie David Baker, and Cheri Oteri as neighbors Frank and Esther Exposition; Jill Talley as bossy pup Cupcake; Mo Collins as Strider, a fast-talking sheep herder; and Tress MacNeille (Daisy Duck in Mickey and the Roadster Racers) as Bob’s Mom.

Brand extensions from Disney Consumer Products and Interactive Media such as activity and story books will be available beginning June 2017 with apparel and toys launching in August 2017.
