Magic Kingdom Security Changes Taking Shape To Begin April 3rd

Magic Kingdom Security Changes Taking Shape To Begin April 3rd

We have been hearing about Security Checkpoints facing changes for some time now.  There have been subtle changes around the entrance to the Magic Kingdom and at the Transportation and Ticket Center.  This weekend we noticed that the Magic Kingdom Security changes are really taking shape to begin tomorrow, Monday, April 3rd.

There are now two tents set up near the bus loop.  You can see them to the right of the Ferryboat exit walkway.  You pass under these tents as you leave the bus loop and head to the Magic Kingdom entrance where the Security Checkpoints are currently located.  There will be Security Checkpoints for Resort boats and monorails as well.  We are unsure where specifically those checkpoints will be located; whether those guests will be screened prior to boarding the boat, or upon debarkation along the docks at the entrance to the Magic Kingdom.

The walkway to and from Disney’s Contemporary Resort does not have any visible changes.  There is one tent to the right as you exit the walkway to the Magic Kingdom but nothing along the walkway itself.  Based on pending changes, visitors walking from Disney’s Contemporary Resort should expect a Security Checkpoint somewhere along the walkway, or just before the Magic Kingdom entrance.

The more obvious changes appear to be at the Transportation and Ticket Center.  You now pass through the covered structures to a loading zone, for the Trams, in an open area across from the original drop-off/pick-up points for the Villains and Heroes Lots.

We are so glad to see that the point at which guests used to cross to go towards the Heroes parking lot is now blocked.  There was never really a cross walk there.  This point of entrance must have been difficult for Disney Security and Cast Members to monitor.  We have passed through that point ourselves and there would often be a Cast Member directing foot traffic through that spot to keep people safe.  Guests can often become careless in their rush to get to the Magic Kingdom and in the past we have seen them push strollers quickly through to beat the tram!

The transition to a safer Magic Kingdom is not likely to be easy as people do not like change.  Guests must be patient as Disney and its Security Team work out any kinks to the new Security Checkpoints.  We at Chip and Company appreciate all that Disney is doing to ensure our safety.  Remember to say “Thank You” and follow all directions given by the Security Team Members because they are doing their jobs to keep us safe and those two words can go a long way during a stressful day at work don’t you agree?

What do you think of the pending Security changes to the Magic Kingdom?  Please leave your comments in the box below.

Star Wars Rogue One: As Told By LEGO

Star Wars Rogue One: As Told By LEGO

Hot on the heels of it’s premiere episode “Moana, as told by LEGO”, Disney and LEGO comes out with episode number 2! Friday, they debuted “Rogue One: As Told By LEGO”. The charming stop-motion animation video tackles the Lucasfilm narrative of The Battle of Scarif – in just under three minutes. Jyn Erso and her team of Rebels attempt to steal the plans to destroy the Death Star.

This Star Wars-themed episode goes inside the imagination of young Billy, who uses a “briefcase” as the Imperial base on the tropical planet of Scarif to recreate the Star Wars world in his bedroom and bring to life his own epic stories.

“As Told By LEGO” is a spinoff of the popular “As Told By Emoji” franchise (125+ MM lifetime views), which continues Disney’s commitment to storytelling innovation with creative retellings of some of Disney, Marvel and Lucasfilm’s most iconic stories.

Mandy Moore Likely To Flubs Lines In Adorable Interview With Zachary Levi

Zachary Levi revealed that his “Tangled: The Series” co-star Mandy Moore is more likely to flub her lines in what could possibly be the sweetest junket interview ever. The ‘Rapunzel’ and ‘Flynn’ voice actors played the ‘Newlywed Game’ on the online series “The Oh My Disney Show”, where each laughed their way through surprising superlatives – including revelations that Moore has a lot in common with her wallflower “A Walk To Remember” character, giving fans a peek into the incredible chemistry the two have on set.

Their interview is at the 1:10 mark

“The Oh My Disney Show” host Alexys Gabrielle gets Mandy Moore to spill the details on what the Golden Globe-nominated actress is really like behind closed doors. In the delightful interview, Moore shares stories from their “Tangled: The Series” press tour, which includes a back-to-back skydiving and jet-boating adventure with Zachary in Australia.

Colorful and Artistic Disney Britto Coffee Mugs

Disney Britto Coffee Mugs

I always need a nice warm cup off coffee when I wake up to get my day started. A Disney mug of course always makes the morning seem brighter and more magical. I’m loving the artistic design of these Disney Britto Coffee Mugs, it gives them such a unique style.

Britto always has lots of vibrant colors, and whimsical patterns. These mugs have a white background, which really lets the contrast of these characters stand out, and POP. I also love that the tops of the rims of the mugs lend to a 3D like effect of the characters. The top of each character rises above the horizon of the mug’s rim.

15 Disney Live-Action Remakes Coming In The Next Few Years

We’ve been updating you as the updates come in about all the Disney films. But maybe you didn’t realize all the movies that are on the docket when it comes to remaking animated features into live-action films.

Here are the 15 films you may not realize are being remade. Just click any of the links below to learn more about each film.

15 – The Lion King – The film has already cast its two main leads: Donald Glover, as Simba and James Earl Jones, the original Mufasa, who is coming back to reprise his role in the live-action film. Directed by Jon Favreau.

mulan

14 – Mulan – Set to be directed by Niki Caro (The Zookeepers Wife) and written by Lauren Hynek and Elizabeth Martin.

15 Disney Live-Action Remakes Coming In The Next Few Years

13 – Aladdin – Directed and written by super-duo Guy Ritchie and John August.

15 Disney Live-Action Remakes Coming In The Next Few Years

12 – Jungle Book 2 – Also directed by workhorse Jon Favreau. There’s no story yet, but the original cast is slated to come back.

15 Disney Live-Action Remakes Coming In The Next Few Years

11 – Maleficent 2 – Angelina Jolie is on task to reprise the ‘bad’ fairy role as is screenwriter Linda Woolverton.

15 Disney Live-Action Remakes Coming In The Next Few Years

10 – Mary Poppins Returns – This is one of those that we’ve been updating pretty regularly. This one isn’t a live-action remake, it’s a sequel and it’s in production currently, with Emily Blunt as the title character, Lin-Manuel Miranda and Dick Van Dyke!

snow white

9 – Snow White – This one was a surprise to me. Erin Cressida Wilson is planned to pen and Justin Paul and Benj Pasek (La-La Land), are also set to write new original music for the film, so this project already seems pretty promising.

15 Disney Live-Action Remakes Coming In The Next Few Years

8 – Rose Red – From a Grimm story that most people may not remember. ‘Snow White & Rose Red’ about two sisters that encounter an enchanted bear. This film is rumored to not follow that storyline, what we do know is the screenplay is being written by newcomer Justin Merz.

Ariel

7 – The Little Mermaid – What we know about this remake is Lin-Manuel Miranda is teaming up with original The Little Mermaid songwriter (and legend) Alan Menken, to write new music for the film to go along with the pre-existing songs.

15 Disney Live-Action Remakes Coming In The Next Few Years

6 – Peter Pan – Directed by David Lowery and written by Lowery and Toby Halbrooks

15 Disney Live-Action Remakes Coming In The Next Few Years

5 – Oliver & Company – If you remember Disney’s Oliver & Company it’s about a scrappy cat named Oliver who gets taken in by a gang of street dogs. Not sure if that’s the route they’re going to take, what we do know is Tommy Kail is directing.

15 Disney Live-Action Remakes Coming In The Next Few Years

4 – James & The Giant Peach – Disney announced last year that they were planning on making a live-action adaptation of the 1996 stop-action film, written by novelist and screenplay writer Nick Hornby. Sam Mendes, is set to direct.

15 Disney Live-Action Remakes Coming In The Next Few Years

3 – Winnie the Pooh – Possibly titled “Christopher Robin”, this live-action film is being directed by Marc Forster (“Finding Neverland”). The screenplay is being written by Alex Ross Perry.

Dumbo

2 – Dumbo – This title has been making the rounds, with Will Smith in talks and then leaving, then Colin Farrell in talks to star. Directed by Tim Burton and written by Ehren Kruger.

15 Disney Live-Action Remakes Coming In The Next Few Years

1 – Cruella – The biggest news of this film is not the multiple re-writes (which isn’t out of the ordinary), but the star. Newly-crowned Academy Award-winning actress Emma Stone is set to play the titular role. Will the character stay closer to the crazed evil perfected by Glenn Close in the 1996 live action film? Only time will tell. No one else has been cast yet, but so far the film is set for a 2018 release.

This is a nice long laundry list of wonderful titles that all us Disney fans can look forward to over the next handful of years.

What do you think of this list of films? Are you excited?

“Frozen” Original Ending Revealed For The First Time

“Frozen” Original Ending Revealed For The First Time

What if Elsa was jilted at the altar? There was massive avalanche, or an army of snow monsters? How about a fateful prophecy? These were some of the elements of the original ending to 2013’s mega-hit Frozen, which is being revealed now for the first time.

Star Kristen Bell has previously told fans that ice queen Elsa was initially conceived as a more straightforward villain. But in this week’s Untold Stories issue of Entertainment Weekly, producer Peter Del Vecho details how Elsa’s characterization changed the film’s final act and how the team figured out an ending that helped make Frozen the most successful animated film of all time.

“With all the movies we were work on, eventually the film tells you what it needs to be and if you’re smart enough to listen to that, it leads you to a different direction than perhaps your preconceived notion,” Del Vecho begins. “So when we started off, Anna and Elsa were not sisters. They weren’t even royal. So Anna was not a princess. Elsa was a self-proclaimed Snow Queen, but she was a villain and pure evil — much more like the Hans Christian Andersen tale. We started out with an evil female villain and an innocent female heroine and the ending involved a big epic battle with snow monsters that Elsa had created as her army…”

“Frozen” went through many different iterations, but here are some common elements from some of the early drafts: Frozen was to open with a prophecy that “a ruler with a frozen heart will bring destruction to the kingdom of Arendelle.” We’re then introduced to Anna, our pure-hearted heroine, and Elsa, an unrelated evil Snow Queen. We learn Elsa is a scorned woman; she was stood up at the altar on her wedding day and froze her own heart so she would never love again. Both Elsa and the audience assume she’s the villain from the prophecy. Fast-forward to the final act: Elsa creates an army of snow monsters to attack our heroes while Kristoff has “a Han Solo moment” and comes to help Anna. To halt Elsa’s attacking army, the two-faced Prince Hans triggers a massive avalanche — not caring that the avalanche also puts Anna, Elsa and all of Arendelle in jeopardy. Anna realizes Elsa is their only hope, so she convinces her to use her powers to save the kingdom. The twist is that the prophecy from the beginning is actually not about Elsa, but about Hans — he’s the one with a metaphorical frozen heart because he’s an unfeeling sociopath. Elsa’s heart is then unfrozen allowing her to love again.

So, yes, originally Elsa was an evil supervillain because a guy dumped her. Still, one could imagine Disney executing a fairly satisfying version of Frozen with this story — the redemption of Elsa and surprise third-act villainy of Hans gives the tale enough freshness to advance it beyond the classic Disney tropes. But for the Frozen team, this version wasn’t nearly good enough.
“The problem was that we felt like we had seen it before,” Del Vecho says. “It wasn’t satisfying. We had no emotional connection to Elsa — we didn’t care about her because she had spent the whole movie being the villain. We weren’t drawn in. The characters weren’t relatable.”

At this point, director Chris Buck and director and co-writer Jennifer Lee started asking some key questions: Does Elsa have to be a villain? … And what if Elsa and Anna were sisters?
“Making them related led us to the idea of her living in fear of her powers,” Del Vecho continues. “What if she’s afraid of who she is? And afraid of hurting the ones she loves? Now we had a character in Anna who was all about love and Elsa who was all about fear. That led to making Elsa a much more dimensional sympathetic character, and instead of the traditional good vs. evil theme we had one that we felt was more relatable: Love vs. fear, and the premise of the movie became that love is stronger than fear.”

The team even had a “sister summit” at Disney where they called in employees to ask them about their family experiences for ideas on how to make Anna and Elsa’s relationship more relatable…
“One of the things Chris Buck had in most versions of the film was a moment where Anna’s heart was frozen and needed to be thawed. Chris said, ‘Does it always need to be true love’s kiss that solves that problem? Does it always have to be the man who comes in and rescues the female? Could it be something different?’ and that led to a different ending. Now that they’re related, Elsa had her own fear and it was Anna who would save the day instead of Elsa by rescuing her sister — and it would be that selfless act that thawed Elsa’s heart. Once we landed on that idea for an ending [Disney animation chief] Ed Catmull called in Jen Lee and said, ‘If you can make that ending pay off and if we can really feel it, I think we’ll have a successful film. And if you don’t … we’ll have nothing.’ … So that really put the pressure on her to make that work.”

Lee scripted an emotional new final act, but there was just one nagging problem left: During the finale action, the audience is supposed to undergo a progression of expectations and twists leading to the film’s unconventional conclusion. First, the viewer has to feel that Hans could be the hero, then they have to feel Kristof was the answer. It’s not until the last possible moment that we realize Anna saving Elsa is the solution. But how do you stage that in a visual way that makes sense?

“She crafted a great ending, the problem was it was difficult to stage,” Del Vecho says. “We couldn’t figure out a way, logistically, to stage it. It’s easy in hindsight. But John Ripa, a story artist, had an idea. He couldn’t articulate it in a way that made sense, so he said, ‘Let me go off and storyboard this ending.’ He went off, boarded it and came back in, and what he showed was that Elsa’s emotions created a white out blizzard. That allowed us to isolate Hans and Elsa from Anna searching for Kristoff through the mist. That way we can reveal Kristoff just moments before we reveal Elsa to Anna, and it allowed the timing we needed. When he pitched that ending [Disney Chief Creative Officer] John Lasseter, the directors and the whole story team stood up and gave him a standing ovation. He helped crack visually how we were going to depict that ending.”

And when the final piece of the creative puzzle fell into place, that moment was downright, well … heart warming.

Gravity Falls Cast Reunites for Parody Ad for "Journal 3"

Disney released a new parody video to promote the long-awaited Gravity Falls: Journal 3 book. The video stars the actors who voice the Pines twins, Kristen Schaal – America’s sweetheart (to a small few) and Jason Ritter.

Last year, the final episode of the beloved Gravity Falls series aired; but that doesn’t mean the mysteries from the Oregon town ended with it. Disney is releasing a new book called Journal 3, which is filled with new monsters, secrets and notes from Dipper and Mabel for fans to explore. The 288-page full-color hardcover book is accompanied by a book jacket, which doubles as an exclusive poster.

Specialty Easter Treats Now Available at Magic Kingdom

Now that Spring is upon us, it’s time to start thinking about Easter.  Walt Disney World is great about designing, and creating, fun holiday treats like these egg-shaped Mickey and Minnie Cake Pops.  We are excited to share with you some of the Specialty Easter Treats now available at the Magic Kingdom.

When we think of sweet treats to enjoy during the Easter season, many of us think of egg-shaped sweets.  Magic Kingdom does not disappoint with its egg-shaped Specialty Cake Pops.  Some of the pops are sporting fun pastel colors with polka-dots and Mickey Ears, while others are representative of Disney characters.

Who doesn’t love a Mickey shaped treat?  These sweet sugar-coated Cake Pops are covered in pink, blue, green, or purple sugar.  If you are not a fan of the sugar-coating then you are in luck because you can choose chocolate coated Mickey Ears instead.  Create an Easter table centerpiece with the Mickey shaped Cake Pops combined with some Beauty and the Beast inspired Rose Cake Pops for a fun and creative conversational piece that is sure to be a hit.

Let’s face it, Sugar Cookies just taste better at the Magic Kingdom.  You can enjoy Sugar Cookies shaped like Easter Bunnies and Tulips.  The traditional Mickey Ear Sugar Cookies are now sporting pastel ears and fun spring colored sprinkles.

Specialty Apples are always a popular treat at Walt Disney World.  You can choose from an Easter Bunny Apple, a Mickey Ear Apple, and a Baby Chick Apple.  They are all adorable. Which one would you pick?

Let’s not forget that the Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom is celebrating its 45th year Anniversary. If you are looking for something fun and sweet you may enjoy the 45th Anniversary Specialty Apple, Vanilla Cupcake, or Chocolate Cupcake.

With the exception of the Specialty Apples, all of these treats are covered as a snack credit under the Disney Dining Plan.  If you are looking for a sweet treat, or have a bunch of snack credits left on your last day, these fun sweets make an excellent snack choice.  The Magic Kingdom has certainly done a great job designing, creating, and featuring Specialty Easter Treats this year.

The Dress Shop at Cherry Tree Lane is now open!

The Dress Shop at Cherry Tree Lane is now open!

The highly anticipated store “The Dress Shop” is now officially open at Disney Springs in Walt Disney World! The Dress Shop on Cherry Tree Lane is a fantastic collection of dresses and accessories in the Market Place CO OP of Disney Springs.

The Dress shop features whimsical collection of dresses inspired by the Disney Parks! These dresses have a beautiful vintage feel, with classic silhouettes and classic details. One of the things I love is that not only can we find gorgeous dresses inspired by our favorite characters and attractions, but plenty of accessories to match too! You can even stop by the shop today and see  Justin J. of Dapper Day! Let’s check out a sampling of some of the beautiful Disney Parks inspired creations we can expect to find.

The Dress Shop at Cherry Tree Lane is now open!

Of course no Disney inspired fashion collection would be complete, with out featuring the original Fashionista herself, Minnie Mouse! I love the iconic polka dotted motif on this very dapper dress cut. The yellow flowers give a throw back to the classic hat wearing Minnie Mouse days, and I feel it really pulls it together.

The Dress Shop at Cherry Tree Lane is now open!

Of course the original Disney Princess can’t be left out either! The red, yellow, and blue colors that we’ve all come to recognize as the snow white color palette are present, but it leans heavier on the red. The Snow White theme is definetly apples in this collection. The dress has a really cute apple print, with the profiles of the 7 Dwarfs as the “bite” in the apples.

The Dress Shop at Cherry Tree Lane is now open!

The Wonderland collection favors many of the whimsical events of the Alice in Wonderland movie, rather than depending solely on Alice. The White Rabbit with his ticking watch, Mad Tea Party elements, and lots of color.

The Dress Shop at Cherry Tree Lane is now open!

Many DisneyBounders don’t just stop at characters, the rides and attractions give lots of inspiration too! The Haunted Mansion is one of the most iconic of the rides that people love, and dress up for. I like that the dress wasn’t just a straight up “Creepy Wallpaper” design, but rather a mix of the colors from the ride, and similar details to the Ghost Host costumes.

The Dress Shop at Cherry Tree Lane is now open!

The Tower of Terror collection is a little more obvious. The logo can be found on most items, and the dress is a cute vintage re-imagining of the bellhop costume.

The Dress Shop at Cherry Tree Lane is now open!

I really love that they included the Enchanted Tiki Room as an inspiration. The show is so full of colors, and imagery that it has inspired some truly beautiful pieces. Of course it’s also such a nostalgic attraction too!

Are you excited to check out The Dress Shop on Cherry Tree Lane on your next visit to Disney Springs?
