“Beauty And The Beast”: As Told By LEGO

“Beauty And The Beast”: As Told By LEGO

Disney today debuted “Beauty and The Beast: As Told By LEGO”, the third episode of its digital series made in collaboration with LEGO. The lovely stop-motion animation video takes on the “tale as old as time,” including vignettes of Belle and the Beast’s first meal together and the iconic ballroom dance scene, as well as the heartwarming finale when the castle is set free from the curse by true love.

“As Told By LEGO” is a spinoff of the popular “As Told By Emoji” which continues Disney’s commitment to storytelling innovation with creative retellings of some of Disney, Marvel and Lucasfilm’s most iconic stories. The first episode, Moana As Told by LEGO, was viewed more than 1 million times since the series debuted last week.

Imagineer George McGinnis passes away at 87

Imagineer George McGinnis passes away at 87

George McGinnis, the last Disney Imagineer that Walt Disney hired has just passed at the age of 87.

George was the show designer on Space Mountain at both Walt Disney World and Disneyland. He also worked on designs like the People Mover, the upgrades to the monorails, the Jeeps for Indiana Jones, and was also the lead designer for Horizons in Epcot.

“George was a disciplined “pro” – a designer who truly paid attention to every detail,” said Marty Sklar, the former vice chairman of Walt Disney Imagineering in a statement.

“‘He loved designing for Disney and put his heart and soul into every project. From Space Mountain to Horizons, monorails to countless other ride vehicles, his imprint on Disney Parks was unique and timeless,’ said Tom Fitzgerald, a current Imagineer who served as a writer on the Horizons Pavilion.”

He wrote a book about his experiences back in 2016 called “From Horizons to Space Mountain: The Life of a Disney ImagineerImagineer George McGinnis passes away at 87.”

George is survived by his wife and family.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

Liberty Tree Tavern Menu Brings Some of your Lunch Favorites Back

Liberty Tree Tavern Menu Brings Some of your Lunch Favorites Back

Like all Disney Restaurants, Liberty Tree Tavern tries to change their menus by adding new dishes.  Over time, and many requests from guests, they may return some of their former dishes.  Here is our Review of some of the lunch favorites that are back on the Liberty Tree Tavern Menu.

The menu still has the ALL-YOU-CARE-TO-ENJOY option served Family Style.  We are happy to announce that some of your favorite A-La-Carte menu choices have returned!

Liberty Tree Pot Roast

Our Tavern Keeper’s Favorite aka “Pot Roast” is back!  The delicious dish is served with mashed potatoes and garden vegetables and is one of the more popular lunch favorites.

We were very happy to see that the New England Pot Roast has remained on the Children’s Menu as well.

The Tavern Battered Fish and Chips has also re-appeared on the lunch menu.  This is the meal I ordered and I really liked the mini salad that is included with this dish.  The menu does not list the salad so I was pleasantly surprised.  Growing up in New England, I was raised on Pot Roast and Fish and Chips.  While the Fish and Chips are filling and tasty, I was a little disappointed.  The fish was quite dense and that texture surprised me a bit as I am used to a thinner, flakier fish.  Other than that, the breading is crispy on the outside which was the redeeming point, for me at least, of the fish itself.  The tartar sauce is very good and is perfect for dipping the fish.  The French Fries were hot and crisp, and are what you would expect from frozen french fries.

In January 2017, we reported on the Liberty Tree Tavern becoming one of the restaurants at Magic Kingdom to begin serving beer and wine.  You can now choose from a variety of beers, wines, and sparkling wines as well.

Liberty Tree Tavern Menu Brings Some of your Lunch Favorites Back

If you want to try something frozen, and non-alcoholic, you may want to check out the Patriot’s Slush.

Liberty Tree Tavern Menu Brings Some of your Lunch Favorites Back

Now for the absolute best part of the meal!  The Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake is overly sweet yet quite good.  This amazing dessert is not new to the lunch menu. However, it is now offered on the Liberty Tree Tavern Dinner Menu for the first time and is a must-try for anybody who has never had it.  It is made with a Vanilla Cake (which has the texture and flavor of a fresh-baked cookie), Gooey Toffee Filling, Caramel Sauce and Vanilla Ice Cream.  The cake is served hot in a small skillet.  The Vanilla Ice Cream, Caramel Sauce and the Chocolate from the Gooey Toffee Filling are melting and just oozing pure sweetness!  One word of warning on this one; you may want to split this decadent treat as I found it impossible to eat even half of it.  This amazingly delicious dessert was, hands-down, my favorite part of the meal.

We believe that Liberty Tree Tavern has made a great decision by bringing the Pot Roast and Fish and Chips back to their lunch menu. We are especially pleased that the Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake is still on the lunch menu, and has now been added as a dessert option to the dinner menu.  When you stop by Liberty Tree Tavern we hope you discover an old lunch favorite, or maybe even a new lunch favorite, on their menu.

Which Lunch Favorite will you try on your next visit to Liberty Tree Tavern?  Please leave your comments in the box below.
