Update To Disneyland Downtown Disney Parking Validation Policy

Heading to Disneyland soon? A new change is coming to the Downtown Disney parking validation policy that you should be aware of.

Starting August 16, the parking policy will be updated to provide 2 hours of free parking when you make a $20 minimum purchase and receive validation from any Downtown Disney location (including quick-service restaurants and kiosks). You will also receive up to 4 hours of free parking with validation from any Downtown Disney table-service restaurant or AMC Theatres movie experience.

This is a change from the previous policy of allowing any guest to park for free for up to 2 hours with no purchase necessary.

The additional hourly charges will remain the same at $12 (charged in 30-minute increments). There is also a minimum $6 charge after the initial 15-minute grace period. Additionally, the maximum daily parking and lost ticket fees will increase from $36 to $48.

ESPN Brings “ESPN8: The Ocho” to the Airwaves Today

If you are looking for your favorite ESPNU programs today and come across dart tournaments, dodge ball tournaments, and other “alternative” programming, don’t be surprised! “ESPN8: The Ocho” has taken over regularly scheduled programming for today, August 8 (8/8). “The Ocho” was a fictional network that was showcased in the 2004 cult classic “Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story” featuring Vince Vaughn, Christine Taylor and Ben Stiller.

In the movie, “The Ocho’s” motto was “Bringing you the Finest in Seldom Seen Sports”. That is true for today! I can say I have never watched 2016 Sky Zone Ultimate Trampoline Dodgeball or the 2016 Kabaddi World Cup Final.

Some other events that you can expect to see today are:

2017 Championship of Bags: A cornhole tournament for all!
Firefighters World Challenge XXV: Firefighters from around the globe compete in challenges to show who has the best skills. Some of the challenges include climbing a five-story tower and rescuing a “victim.”
2016 Kabaddi World Cup Final: Originally from India, this contact sport puts two teams against each other and introduces a unique rule.

The History Of The Pirates Of The Caribbean - A D23 Expo Exhibit

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the beloved Pirates of the Caribbean attraction, an exhibit was created called “A Pirates Life for Me: Disney’s Rascals, Scoundrels, Really Bad Eggs” for the attendees at this year’s D23 Expo.

The attraction made its debut at Disneyland park in 1967 and has made its way to the Magic Kingdom, Tokyo Disneyland, Disneyland Paris and most recently a re-imagined version of the ride, Pirates of the Caribbean: Battle for the Sunken Treasure, opened at the Shanghai Disneyland Park in 2016.

The Disney Archives decided to mark the occasion by opening a special “A Pirates Life for Me: Disney’s Rascals, Scoundrels, Really Bad Eggs” exhibit at this year’s D23 Expo. This walk-through exhibit featured never-before-released imagery created during the making of the attraction, plus sheet music, costumes, pirate props and much more.

Popular ABC Game Shows Renewed for Another Season

If you are a fan of $100,000 Pyramid, Celebrity Family Feud, and/or Match Game, I have good news for you! They all have been renewed by ABC for another season. This will mark a fourth season for Celebrity Family Feud and a third season for $100,000 Pyramid and Match Game. All three shows are a part of ABC’s “Fun & Games.”

Also to return will be the hosts of the games shows. Michael Strahan and Steve Harvey will be back for $100,000 Pyramid and Celebrity Family Feud respectively. It was also announced that Alec Baldwin signed on for an additional two years to host Match Game.

To Tell the Truth, which also is a part of ABC’s “Fun & Games” has already been renewed. “Fun & Games” is on ABC on Sunday evenings.

Is a Mary Poppins-themed Attraction Coming to Epcot?

Even though several new attractions and changes were announced for Epcot at this year’s D23 Expo, that doesn’t mean the rumor mill has died down! While several rumors were confirmed by Disney, there is still much speculation that more attractions might be added down the line.

One hot rumor right now is the United Kingdom Pavilion receiving a new attraction. Currently, people are saying that the attraction will be themed after Alice in Wonderland, Brave, the Loch Ness Monster, or Mary Poppins.

Mary Poppins seems to be the strongest candidate and it make senses. Disney’s new Mary Poppins movie, Mary Poppins Returns starring Emily Blunt, is set to premiere in theaters at the end of 2018.

Rumors of changes and additions to the World Showcase have been swirling for years. There is plenty of room for new pavilions to be built as well as adding onto some of the current ones. Many were expecting a Brazil pavilion to be announced at D23 Expo but that never did come to fruition. That doesn’t mean it will not happen down the line. Maybe the announcements that were made about new Ratatouille and Guardians of the Galaxy rides along with the extensive changes coming to Future World are just the beginning for Epcot!

Lighthouse Sculpture Honors the Memory of Lane Graves at the Grand Floridian Resort

A beautiful lighthouse sculpture honoring two year old Lane Graves has been erected at the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa at Walt Disney World. The sculpture is located near the location of the tragic accident that took place a little over a year ago on June 14, 2016.

The lighthouse is a symbol of the Lane Thomas Foundation, which was established by Matt and Melissa Graves following the sudden loss of their young son . The Lane Thomas Foundation is dedicated to providing financial support for non-medical expenses to families with children in need of life-saving organ transplants at Omaha healthcare facilities.
