New Updates For the Disneyland Paris – Val d’Europe Half Marathon Weekend

This year the Disneyland Paris – Val d’Europe Half Marathon Weekend will be taking place September 21-24, 2017. Runners from around the world will take part in this second annual event. Last year’s inaugural race had 11,000 runners participating with one-third of those from the United States. What could be better than a magical run through the French countryside that finishes at the Disneyland Paris Resort with all of your favorite Disney characters!

This year’s race is going to be even better than last year. A new 10K has been added to the race weekend along with a Challenge event.

The 10K will have many fun surprises and Disney entertainment as runners make their way through Disneyland Paris Resort. The Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo Challenge is for runners who take on the 10K and the half marathon. Completing this challenge will earn you a brand new Cinderella-themed medal.

For a next level challenge, runners who complete the Disneyland Paris Half Marathon and any other runDisney half or full marathon within the same calendar year will receive the Castle to Chateau Challenge Commemorative medal.

Another new fun addition to this year’s festivities is that the Disneyland Paris 5K will be run at night! This course will have participants of all levels running down Hollywood Boulevard and around The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. After the 5K is over Walt Disney Studios Park at Disneyland Paris Resort will host a special runDisney event for anyone participating in the race weekend. Runners will be able to purchase tickets for this private Kick-Off Party that will give them access to main attractions, Disney characters, commemorative photo opportunities and a DJ party.

Our First Look Into Disney’s Next Live Action Movie: ‘Mary Poppins Returns’

The most iconic nanny, Mary Poppins, returns to theaters Christmas 2018 in Mary Poppins Returns. Today, we are hearing from the film’s star, Emily Blunt, and learning some more about the plot of the upcoming movie.

Emily Blunt has landed—practically perfectly, of course—on the cover of the new issue of Entertainment Weekly, and we could not be more excited. In an exclusive first look, Emily shares her enthusiasm for playing the title role in Mary Poppins Returns.

The story in Entertainment Weekly provides many of the exciting details fans have been clamoring for. The new film takes place 25 years after the first, during the economic slump of the 1930s in the UK (think: The Great Depression). Michael Banks (Ben Whishaw) now lives in the family home (a stunning recreation of the original 17 Cherry Tree Lane!) with his family, when tragedy hits: Michael’s wife passes away, leaving banker/artist Michael to raise their three children on his own. Jane (Emily Mortimer) tries to help lift the spirits—and the family’s finances, which are now tottering, as they face foreclosure on their home—but can only do so much.

Enter Mary Poppins. Blunt got the blessing of Julie Andrews herself before production began, and Mary works magic on the children, the family, and everyone she encounters, including Lin-Manuel Miranda in the role of Jack, a lamplighter and former protégé of chimney sweep Bert (Dick Van Dyke).

Much care and respect has been put into bringing this family musical to life while honoring the legacy and reputation of the original film. Filmmakers strategically hired the best in the business including Tony-award winning composers tasked with penning a new score for the new movie.

Rob Marshall, the director for Mary Poppins Returns, is quoted as saying, “The bar is so high for this. But to be able to walk in the footsteps of this beautiful story about a woman who brings magic to this family that’s looking for wonder and hope and joy in their lives… I feel a great responsibility and reverence every day. We all feel it. We’re just lifting it up to get there with the right intentions behind it.”

Marshall also directed the Oscar-winning Chicago.

FastPass+ Rule Enforcement Began Today in Walt Disney World

A few days ago, I wrote about Walt Disney World’s plan to crack down on guests abusing the FastPass+ system. Well today Disney World implemented their “In-Park Validation” which will flag guests trying to cheat the FastPass+ system, and lock them out of the My Disney Experience app.

With “In-Park Validation” Disney is now able to more strictly enforce their FastPass+ rules. The new validation system will prevent guests from using expired park passes, or friends park tickets, to book extra FastPasses at the in-park kiosks. This is a direct response to the widespread abuse of one of Disney’s current FastPass rules: The valid theme park admission associated with your Site/App account and used to make FastPass+ selections must be the same valid theme park admission you will use for entry into the park on the day the FastPass+ selections are redeemed.

Cast Members working the FastPass lines, for Disney World attractions, will receive a notification showing an attempt to abuse the system when a guest scans a ticket that was not used to enter the park that day. This will result in the guest being denied access to the attraction through the FastPass line. Continued attempts to cheat the system will result in being locked out of your My Disney Experience app. Guests feeling they’ve been locked out in error, may visit Guest Relations to reverse the lockout.

Applications Now open for 2017 Disney Soccer Showcase

The online application process is now open for this year’s Disney Soccer Showcase series at Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex. This year it will be presented by AS Roma.

This year’s Disney Girls Soccer Showcase starts Thanksgiving weekend instead of its traditional late December kickoff, while the Disney Boys Soccer Showcase will resume its usual Christmas weekend timeframe. The girls’ November start allows the younger age groups to compete at the same time as the older age groups and allows for more matches to be played at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, one of six local event venues.

Disney Soccer Showcase, arguably the nation’s premier youth soccer tournament for boys and girls U13- U19, is the ultimate opportunity for top youth soccer players to be seen by hundreds of collegiate coaches looking for prospective student-athletes. The event is perhaps the country’s top soccer recruiting tournament.

Disney Soccer Showcase is one of several prestigious soccer events held at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, the official preseason training home of Italian soccer powerhouse AS Roma. In addition to hosting the new IdeaSport youth soccer program presented by Walt Disney World Resort and LaLiga, it hosts 12 soccer events including the Disney Cup International, the Disney Memorial Day Soccer Shootout, the Disney 3v3 Soccer Championship, the Disney Pre-Season Soccer Kickoff and the Disney President’s Day Soccer Festival. Behind-the-Scenes of the 75h Anniversary Edition of Bambi

It’s been a while since I sat down to watch Bambi. But, with this Limited Edition 75th Anniversary Edition featuring HD technology and behind-the-scenes bonus features, I figured I would give it a try. Boy, am I glad I did! It was great to catch up with “Bambi, Thumper, and Flower” and their adventures in the woods.

Bambi was Walt Disney Animation Studios’ fifth feature release. Unfortunately, when Bambi was originally released in 1942 it was met with mixed reviews. Many viewers thought it lacked the fantasy elements that were to be expected in Disney films. Even though the plot may not have pleased some, the technology and animation that was used in producing the film was top notch and groundbreaking for it’s time. The film went on to actually lose money during it’s original release. Since then the film has been re-released several times since it’s premiere, it is now considered one of the Disney Classics enjoyed by children of all ages around the world.

Let’s take a look behind the scenes on what when on to bring Bambi to life.
