Disneyland Testing Out Droids That May Be Used When Star Wars Land Opens on Both Coasts

According to an article published yesterday by the Orange County Register, Disneyland,  in celebration of the new trailer dropping for Star Wars: The Last Jedi , may be giving West Coast visitors a taste of the innovations and technology that will be used once the Star Wars lands open in 2019 at both Disneyland and Disney World.

Visitors to Disneyland will want to be on the lookout for “Jake” a 3-foot white J4-K3 droid who was spotted earlier this week roaming around Tomorrowland. Through a series of beeps and motions, he was seen interacting with guests in front of Star Wars Launch Bay at the Disneyland theme park.

Guests lucky enough to catch Jake earlier this week were able to follow him around a bit, snap photos and even get a selfie or two.

There’s no word yet on whether Jake or any of his droid friends will be making an appearance at Walt Disney World.  We promise to keep you updated on any developments.

Star War: The Last Jedi will open in theaters on December 15th.  With anticipation building for the next instalment of this beloved film franchise, Disney released a new movie trailer this week which you can find here.

ABC To Film Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade Special Starting on November 3rd

As we inch ever closer to the Christmas Season, a question a lot of guests want to know if when Disney and ABC will be filming the Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade that is shot in Walt Disney World & Disneyland.

Today, news started to surface that Disney will be doing these tapings in November and December for airing dates nearer to Christmas.  There will be multiple shows that will be taped during this time.

The Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade filming at Walt Disney World is slated to take place starting the weekend of November 3rd and will run through until the 7th. This will not include a parade but rather stage show performances and musical acts.  In keeping with last year’s format, the parade will be recorded at Disneyland Resort. We have no news on the Disneyland schedule yet…

These events are non-ticketed with cast members typically filling in the immediate stage area as the audience.  However, if you’ll be in the park on filming days it is possible to see the festivities from guest areas.

Those visiting during the week of November 3rd should expect some disruptions including walkway closures as Disney closes off areas for the various productions.

More details are sure to trickle in over the next few weeks so keep watching this space for further details.

Disneyland Has a Creepy New Cocktail

We have discovered a frightening new Halloween-themed treat in Disneyland! A dark purple beverage, served over ice, and floating in it is a glowing purple cube that looks like what else? An eyeball! (Don’t worry, it’s really just a colored maraschino cherry stuffed inside of a lychee) And to top it off the rim of the glass is coated in purple sugar. This would probably be Maleficent’s favorite drink.

 

The $14 cocktail is made with vodka and Chambord that’s mixed together and tinted to a dark purple color. Wish it was available on the east coast!

D-Living, one of the themed stores located in the Town Center neighborhood in Disney Springs, has temporarily closed at the end of business day on Sunday, October 8. It’s expected that D-Living’s upcoming closure will give Disney time to work on a new theme.

Halloween has definitely arrived at Disney Springs, where guests will find the sights, sounds, and tastes associated with the spooky season throughout Walt Disney World’s downtown shopping district.  Here’s just a highlight of the eerily delightful treats waiting for you!

Costumes:  Searching for that last-minute Halloween costume? Disney Springs has you covered.  You’ll find everything here from superheroes to rebels, pirates to princesses.  So where can you find the best selection? Tren-D is a fantastic place for older kids (and the kids at heart) to find the latest Disney-bounding looks.  The Dress Shop at Cheery Tree Lane also offers an eclectic range of dresses including “Pirates,” “Cinderella,” Minnie Mouse,” and “Haunted Mansion” themes. Guests with small kids may also want to pay a visit to World of Disney, Super Hero Headquarters, and Star Wars Galactic Outpost for an out-of-this-world array of costumes and accessories.

Photo Locations: Guests looking for that perfect Halloween-inspired selfie or family photo should seek out one of four Halloween themed backdrops you’ll find on the premises.  Guests can choose from a giant “Mickey” pumpkin or the “Shopped Til I Dropped” gravestone (pictured).  Visitors should also be on the lookout for PhotoPass photographers will be roaming around Disney Springs with Halloween props!

Special Entertainment: Heading to Disney Springs after sundown? Then be sure to visit the Disney Springs promenade for family-friend DJ Dance Parties taking place near Once Upon a Toy. From October 21 – 30th, stilt walkers will even be on hand to add to the fun.

The Polite Pig has recently announced the launch of a refreshed, new menu! The Polite Pig is a modern barbecue restaurant in Disney Springs featuring a variety of wood-fired smoked and grilled items inspired by the best seasonal food that Florida has to offer.

These are actually the first ever engravable products that Disney has ever done, how amazing is that? There is a rose gold Minnie Mouse, and a black Mickey Mouse with jeweled ears. Rose gold has been very popular with Disney addicts lately, so this is sure to be a hit!

There is a third dangle charm, that is a Pave Mickey with a silver tone, which I feel adds a simple yet charming bit of bling to a Keeper.

In addition to the new charms, there is also a new Keeper! This Keeper is Minnie Mouse themed, with a soft blush pink color, and a rose gold Minnie bow clasp. I really liked the original reversible Mickey Mouse band, and didn’t know how they could make an even better one when I heard there was a second Keeper. I have to say they really impressed me with the Minnie Mouse version, it’s absolutely dazzling! With all of these beautiful new options, I can’t wait to see the designs that designers come up with!

Re-imagination of ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ Movie, ‘Gigantic’ Shelved by Disney – Pixar Studios

If you were looking forward to the 2020 release of one of Disney’s next animated original movies, Gigantic, we have some sad news to pass along. Today, Disney – Pixar Studios announced the project has been suspended indefinitely.

The project was originally announced at the D23 Expo in June 2015 to much fanfare. Songs by Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez, who wrote many of the songs for Frozen, were supposed to be featured in the Jack and the Beanstalk reimagination. The movie was originally scheduled to be released in 2018 but was pushed back until November 2020. After today’s announcement, it is now unknown if the film will ever be produced.

Ed Catmull, president of Walt Disney and Pixar Animation Studios, released this announcement, saying,“It’s impossible to know when we begin a project how the creative process will unfold, and sometimes, no matter how much we love an idea or how much heart goes into it, we find that it just isn’t working. With Gigantic, we’ve come to that point, and although it’s a difficult decision, we are ending active development for now.”

Catmull did go on to say, “We are focusing our energies on another project that has been in the works, which we’ll be sharing more about soon, now set for Thanksgiving 2020.” Additional details about this new project are still unknown.

Halloween Isn’t Complete Without a ‘Spooky Spokey-Cone Macaron’ from Disneyland!

Disneyland has done it again! Recently, we have reporting on several new delicious food items to come out of the West Coast Parks. Today, we have another one to share and your Halloween won’t be as magical unless you try one. Tonight, I introduce you to the “Spooky Spokey-Cone Macaron!”

Inspired by the traffic cones in Cars Land at Disney’s California Adventure Park, the “Spooky Spokey-Cone Macarons” are triangle-shaped instead of being the traditional circle shape. The macaron is filled with marshmallow buttercream and just for Halloween, it also includes candy corn.

You can find your “Spooky Spoke-y Macaron” at the Cozy Cone Motel right in Cars Land.

If you can’t make it to Disneyland in time for Halloween, have no fear! The traditional “Spokey-Cone Macaron” is available year-round minus the candy corn. The “Spokey-Cone Macaron” has just undergone a spooky makeover for Halloween like several other of your Disneyland favorite food items!

Every night during Halloween time at Disneyland you can investigate something sinister at Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark attraction. A transmission has been received from The Collector’s assistant Apheta,  which seems to indicate something scary has happened inside The Collector’s Fortress. Take a look at the video below and see if you can figure out what it is!

Today Marks the End of Siemens – Walt Disney World Parks and Resorts Partnership

As we reported back in June, Siemens announced that they would be ending their 12-year partnership with Walt Disney World Parks and Reports. Today, October 10, 2017, marks the official end of that partnership.

Siemens was the title sponsor of Spaceship Earth and Illuminations at Epcot. In addition, they also sponsored it’s a small world at Disneyland Park. A new sponsor has not been named for these attractions and it is not known if/when one will be.

It’s not hard to tell that Spaceship Earth is in need of a refurbishment. Many were worried that with the absence of a corporate sponsor, that the attraction might not receive the touchups it needs. However, after the D23 Expo, it’s no secret that Disney is really focusing their resources on Epcot – especially Future World. So, maybe a Spaceship Earth overhaul is also in the works for another phase of the Epcot’s reimagining.

Rumors online have also been pointing to changes coming to Epcot’s popular nighttime show, Illuminations. With the absence of Siemens as it’s corporate sponsor, it’s interesting to see what changes might come to it as well.
