Walt Disney Co. Ranks High in Survey of Most Admired Companies

According to a piece in the Orlando Sentinel, Walt Disney Company ranks right among companies like Google, Apple, Microsoft and Amazon as one of the most-admired employers.

According to data compiled by Morning Consult, a polling, research and media company, Disney falls slightly behind Google on a best overall list followed by Amazon, Apple, Microsoft, Harley-Davidson, Tesla, BMW, UPS and Hershey.

In the most-admired survey, Disney also finished second when broken down by age groups including baby boomers, Generation Xers and millennials.

The 220,000 participants in the survey were asked to rate companies this past January – May and were asked if they would be “proud” to work for a list of companies. The businesses were then ranked on how many participants said they would be proud to work there.

Melissa Joan Hart to Direct Remake of Disney’s Watcher in the Woods

Melissa Joan Hart is teaming up with Lifetime to remake the 1980’s Disney cult classic, “Watcher in the Woods.” Hart will be directing the newly re-imagined movie, and Angelica Houston will star as Mrs. Alywood, a role originally played by Bette Davis.

“Watcher in the Woods” was one of Walt Disney Productions first attempts at a horror film. The original movie follows the story of an American teenager who joins her family in an English country house, and begins to experience strange and supernatural occurrences. Mrs. Alywood, the kindly caretaker, knows the dark secret behind the happenings, and prepares for the return of a girl who died 30 years earlier.

Is Disney Offering a Disney Gift Card for Declining Mousekeeping?

Today, there have been unconfirmed reports circulating that if you stay at a value resort and decline “Mousekeeping” you will be offered a $40 Disney Gift Card in exchange.

There are many details surrounding this rumor that we are unsure of at this time. We cannot confirm if this is only being offered at value resorts or all Disney resorts. We also are not sure if there is a minimum or maximum night stay involved either.

It is a common practice these days for hotel chains to offer some sort of compensation for not taking advantage of housecleaning services. They promote this practice as a way of being environmental friendly but of course, it also leads to less of a need for human resources.

We will keep you posted as soon as we hear anything confirmed by Disney. It was just this past March Disney was offering gift cards for staying at Caribbean Beach Resort during it’s extensive renovations.

Disneyland Releases Six New Collectible Cards in Celebration of Rivers of America Attractions

Rivers of America in Disneyland Park is reopening this summer, along with its surrounding attractions; including Fantasmic!, Mark Twain Riverboat and Sailing Ship Columbia, Pirate’s Lair on Tom Sawyer Island, Davy Crockett Explorer Canoes, and the Disneyland Railroad. In celebration of the reopening, Disneyland has released a set of six collector cards.

Each attraction has its own card to collect, featuring the projected date for reopening:

Tom Sawyer Island – June 16th, 2017
Fantasmic! – July 17th, 2017
Disneyland Railroad – July 29th, 2017
Davy Crockett Explorer Canoes- July 29th, 2017

The Ultimate Disney Fan Event is just around the corner. Today the Walt Disney Studios revealed an exclusive look at its unparalleled film slate for this event. The D23 Expo 2017 will take place July 14 – 16 in Anaheim, California.

At two marquee Hall D23 presentations, the Studio will give fans a behind-the-scenes glimpse at its upcoming releases, with animated films from Walt Disney Animation Studios and Pixar Animation Studios showcased on Friday, July 14, and live-action projects from Disney, Marvel Studios, and Lucasfilm taking the stage on Saturday, July 15. While the films to be featured in Hall D23 will remain under wraps until showtime, the Studio’s upcoming slate includes Pixar’s Coco; Marvel Studios’ Thor: Ragnarok, Black Panther, and Avengers: Infinity War; Lucasfilm’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi; Disney’s A Wrinkle in Time and Mary Poppins Returns; Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2; and more.

In addition, a new event has been announced for Sunday, July 16, at 10 a.m. in the D23 Expo Arena: Celebration of an Animated Classic: The Lion King. Details On Park Hopper Tickets And FastPass+ Included With Disney Cruise Line Bahamian Sailings out of New York

The Disney Magic‘s 7 and 8 night Bahamian itineraries departing out of New York will also include a stop at Port Canaveral with a Port Adventure to Walt Disney World. As part of the cruise fare a 1-Day Magic Your Way Ticket with Park Hopper option is included for each passenger. Three FastPass+ reservations per person are also included.

According to an article by the Disney Cruise Line Blog guests who have future sailings on one of these itineraries are starting to receive emails explaining the details around the included park tickets. The email explains that the Fastpass+ selections will not need to be reserved ahead of time. They will be available to use at all attractions except the two newest at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Avatar Flight of Passage and Na’vi River Journey.

The email goes on to say that complimentary transportation will be provided to take guests to Walt Disney World as early as 7:30 am and that travel time will be around 90 minutes. Disney suggests that guests not make any park reservations earlier than two hours after their scheduled bus departure time. Dining Reservations can be made up to 180 in advance.

Motorcoach transportation back to the ship will be available throughout the afternoon up until normal park closing time. This does not include ticketed holiday events.

Guests will have the opportunity to sign up online for their transportation departure time from the cruise ship and preferred park destination in the My Cruise Activities section of the online Planning Center as soon as their pre-reserve booking window opens.

Lilo’s Playhouse at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort to Offer Family Activities During the Day

Lilo’s Playhouse, is one of a handful of Children’s Activity Centers at Walt Disney World that provide parents with childcare (complete with fun-filled evening activities for the kids ) while the grown-ups enjoy an evening to themselves. Located at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort it was announced that this fun, interactive center will soon be opening its doors to all resort guests starting at 10:30am for a day packed with fun family activities.

In an article published today at wdwinfo.com it was revealed that starting on July 2, 2017, Walt Disney World Resort guests will be able to enjoy a variety of complimentary family-friendly activities including arts and crafts, video games and more. Guests should note there may be a fee for select arts and crafts workshops.

All children are required to be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

At 4:00 pm each afternoon the Playhouse will close and will re-open at 4:30 pm as a drop-off childcare center location. The cost for the evening program is $55 per child for the duration of the evening. Nightly offerings may include:

Lava Flow
Learn all about physics! Build paper mountain volcanoes then watch them explode—just like the real thing.
Ratatouille Cooking School
Join a specially trained cookie chef and learn how to make chocolate chip goodies fit for the toughest food critic—even Remy would agree.
