New Paint Added to Old Streets of America Building Facades

New Paint Added to Old Streets of America Building Facades

Many of us have experienced moments of nostalgia as we witnessed the disappearance of the former Streets of America Building Facades.  We have been wondering when, or if, the remaining structures may be removed.  We are thrilled to announce that we noticed new paint has been added to the old Streets of America Building Facades.

But what does this mean?  To give a comparison, this is what the buildings looked like in September 2016………..

and here is what they look like now on July 1, 2017.

While we do not know what these buildings will represent, we are excited to see that these structures are likely to remain in some capacity.  Otherwise, why bother to update the exterior of the facades with fresh paint?  The Drug Store sign appears to be covered, but intact.  The Streets of America have disappeared; leaving a shell to be rebuilt, recreated and reimagined.   These new lands are yet to be seen, but exist in the minds and visions of the Disney Imagineers.

The old Drug Store facade has us particularly intrigued.  The area is now covered and appears to have scaffolding set up between that facade and the former Writer’s Stop building that is connected to the Sci-Fi Dine In Theater.

Back on May 6, 2017 we had noticed an odd tube of some sort extending between the two structures.  We wondered what in the world that could represent and now we see that the entire area is covered behind large construction tarps so we will have to wait and see. The first picture above gives a really good comparison of how the new paint has transformed the old Drug Store Building Facade.

We look forward to watching the progress, albeit from the other side of the construction walls, of Star Wars Land and Toy Story Land.  If you have not had the opportunity to visit Disney’s Hollywood Studios in recent months, then you will be amazed at the changes brought about by all the construction for these amazing new lands.  At this time, we are happy to see that there may be some remnants of the former Streets of America left behind.    For those of us who walked those Streets countless times, who built fond memories by witnessing the most amazing Osborne Spectacle of Dancing Lights, who danced along with Mulch, Sweat and Shears, who explored Honey I Shrunk the Kids Movie Set, and who truly miss all that the Streets of America represented we are hopeful that these pieces shall remain and forever represent all that was.  The new paint, added to the old existing Streets of America Building Facades, looks new and fresh.  Amazing what a bit of a paint can do to an old building!

What do you think of the new paint on the old Streets of America Building Facades?

Guests can even ask for a Mickey silhouette made with the chamoy sauce! This delicious frozen treat is priced just under $6 and it looks well worth it.

Originally introduced back in 2015 in honor of Cinco de Mayo, this quickly grew into a guest favorite. The Disneyland Resort has brought this seasonal item back but it’s only available for a limited time. Clarabelle’s Hand Scooped Ice Cream can be found in Disney California Adventure on Buena Vista Street.

Disney’s Descendants 2 Coming to DVD August 15th

Descendants 2

The Villain Kids From the hit Disney Channel Original Movie “Descendants” are Back and the Stakes are Even Higher in the Highly Anticipated Sequel! Get ready for more action, more music, wicked dance numbers, and NEW villain kids, Because Disney’s Descendants 2 is coming to DVD August 15th!

The story deepens in the music-driven sequel to the global smash hit “Descendants,” as the teenage sons and daughters of Disney’s most infamous villains — Mal, Evie, Carlos and Jay (also known as Villain Kids or VKs) — try to find their place in idyllic Auradon.

When the pressure to be royally perfect becomes too much for Mal, she returns to her rotten roots on the Isle of the Lost where her archenemy Uma, the daughter of Ursula, has taken her spot as self-proclaimed queen of the run-down town. Uma, still resentful over not being selected by Ben to go to Auradon Prep with the other Villain Kids, stirs her pirate gang including Captain Hook’s son Harry and Gaston’s son Gil, to break the barrier between the Isle of the Lost and Auradon, and unleash all the villains imprisoned on the Isle, once and for all.

Could Verizon Be Considering a Disney Takeover?

Bob Iger

Bob Iger

The Wall Street rumor mill was swirling last week with the news that Verizon Communications may be considering a takeover of Walt Disney Co.  This is a result of a piece that ran in the New York Post on Saturday.

According to the report, Verizon has already purchased both AOL and Yahoo as a part of a broader plan to improve their content offerings putting them on equal footing with AT&T (who similarly has its sights set on Time Warner.)

However, the rumor has been met with much skepticism from Wall Street insiders who argue that the money needed by Verizon to make such a deal would require them taking an a huge level of debt.

It has also been suggested that though there are portions of Walt Disney Co that would be particularly appealing to Verizon (namely ABC, ESPN, Pixar, and Star Wars) the company would have little interest in acquiring the theme parks both in the States and abroad.

Another counter to this is that rumors have also been circulating that Disney is looking to make acquisitions of its own including a potential buyout of Netflix Inc. which boasts both a large distribution network and a massive library of digital content.

It will be interesting to see how this story plays out in the weeks ahead.  Readers are encouraged to keep watching this space for the latest updates.

This is the Only Original Attraction Still In Operation at Frontierland at Disneyland

Disneyland

If you were thinking Mark Twain Riverboat, you are correct! The Mark Twain Riverboat is the only opening day attraction in Frontierland at Disneyland that is still open.

Guests on the Mark Twain Riverboat cruise around the Rivers of America on a scenic half-mile adventure into the wilds of old America aboard a steam-powered paddler around the. Board the 19th-century-inspired Mark Twain riverboat nestled in the heart of Frontierland and embark on a relaxing sightseeing voyage around Pirate’s Lair on Tom Sawyer Island.

Disneyland

During this charming, 14-minute journey into America’s early frontier, sharp-eyed explorers can observe a menagerie of sights along the river’s edge, including everything from the Disneyland Railroad to a peak of the Haunted Mansion.  Along the way, guests listen to lively narration by iconic American author Mark Twain as he details a time when traveling was as much about new discoveries as it was about transportation.

Did you know that The Mark Twain is a working reproduction of the historic vessels that ferried people up and down the mighty Mississippi? An actual working steam engine converts the water from the Rivers of America into steam that in turn powers the large paddle that propels the boat.

Have you ever taken a ride on this famous riverboat? Did you know you were riding on a piece of history?

The Mark Twain Riverboat is currently closed for refurbishment with an expected reopening date of July 29.

Today, we are getting our first look at the logo for the annual Epcot International Food and Wine Festival in Walt Disney World. Absolutely Adorable Disney Autograph Book Bags with Matching Book and Pen

Disney Autograph Book Bags

One of my family’s favorite things to do at Disney is visit the characters! We love to have an autograph book with us to remember the moment with too. The regular ones at the parks really don’t change very often, so I’m always on the hunt for something different, like these delightful Disney Autograph Book Bags on Etsy by nickaroo5055.

These handmade Disney autograph book bags come with a matching autograph book and pen! I’m all about coordinating so this is so perfect to me. The book measures 6 x 4 1/2 inches and has 30 blank card stock pages. It is a hard cover book and both sides of the pages can be written on, for 60 spaces! I love to tape in a picture of the meet and greet on the page opposite of the autograph.

The autograph book bag has a 43 inch strap, and can also be used for the added function of  holding your Disney pin collection. So cute, AND multi-functional? I think I’m already in love! The strap is also adjustable, which is great to help size down for the little kiddos.

There’s already so much to keep track of at Disney trying to keep track of snacks, drinks, camera, and everything else you have to bring along… so why not let your kids help out with their own autograph book bag? This neat little bag not only looks great, it’s so useful! There’s also tons of themes and characters to choose from! I loved them all, but chose some of my favorites to share!

Would you take one of these Disney Autograph Book Bags with matching book and pen to the Disney parks with you?

Now for what I think is the most exciting new headwear reveal, the new Interchangeable Bow Collection that’s coming to Disney Parks this fall! This new style ear headband is more than an accessory, it’s a collection! You start with the mouse-eared headband that comes with a removable sequin-covered bow. This starter headband contains three spaces where an interchangeable bow can be attached using a clip.

New Disney Headwear Coming to the D23 Expo's Disney Dream Store

For those of us that love to wear different ears through out out trips, this band is perfect. You just need one ear headband, and you can switch out with different bows for a new look each day! For the Disney Dream Store debut there will be six Disney character-inspired bows sold separately, which can be easily attached to the starter headband.
