Star Wars X State Collection

State is celebrating the latest installment of the Star Wars saga, with their newest collection. State has launched its Star Wars-inspired capsule collection in collaboration with Disney and Lucasfilm. The Star Wars X State Collection includes a range of products including backpacks, cross over bags, pouches and mini backpacks.

Today is the New Star Wars X State Collection Launch

You’ll find a collection of apparel and accessories from a galaxy far, far away with the new State collection. There are bags that tell tales of newfound friendships (like the one between Princess Leia and the Ewoks) to items inspired by our favorite droid duo R2-D2 and C-3PO. The STATE Bags x Star Wars collaboration will have you and your friends ready to explore any and all galaxies. Styles like Kane Princess Leia and Nevins Stormtrooper backpacks are equipped to carry everyday gear and books and even a laptop. The collection also includes smaller styles like cross over bags, pouches, and mini backpacks for the Younglings.

Watch a Disney Movie With... Aladdin's Jonathan Freeman voice of Jafar

In celebration of Aladdin’s 25th anniversary over the weekend, Oh My Disney today released a special episode of “Watch A Disney Movie With.. Jafar,” in which Jonathan Freeman, the voice actor who played Jafar, reveals that Robin Williams’ “Genie” was supposed to be green, that Gilbert Godfried’s parrot “Iago” had a much smaller part in the original iteration of the iconic duo, and other secrets from the sound booth.

The digital series invites fans to rewatch iconic Disney movies with the beloved film stars.

Join the quick-witted Broadway star backstage in New York City, as he unwinds common misconceptions, drastic changes and character edits from the film that changed the landscape of motion picture animation forever, including:

  • Animation Changes — Sometimes occurring on-the-spot, Freeman discusses what it was like working with legendary directors Ron Clements and John Musker, including a change of Genie’s skin from green to blue.

  • Finding Jafar’s Voice — Jafar’s sinister laugh was inspired by the voice actor’s first-look drawings of the villain’s “cruel beauty.”

  • Voice Tricks — How animators encouraged Freeman to “physicalize” his character in the sound booth using a cane and rag.

Chef Mickey’s Temporarily Relocated To Convention Center During Refurbishment

Chef Mickey's Convention Center

Starting today, Chef Mickey’s has been closed for a scheduled refurbishment until December 12th (Cast members did state that it could extend to the 13th). During this time, it will be relocating to the 1st floor of the Convention Center at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. The dining and character experience will remain the same.

The reason given for this refurbishment is that repairs needed to be made in the kitchen and Disney was unable to prepare meals for guests.

We decided to visit and give you an idea of what you can expect if your reservation for Chef Mickey’s is scheduled during the refurbishment.

Signs have been put up to let guests know that the dining location is temporarily located on the 1st floor of the Convention Center.

As you move towards the Convention Center, signs have been placed to make sure you find your way.

Toys for Tots Downtown Disney

On December 2nd and 3rd, the Disneyland Resort is giving you the chance to help those less fortunate this holiday season. Visit the Toys for Tots drive from 10 am to 5 pm at the Downtown Disney District Main Stage with a donation of a new, unwrapped toy valued at $10 or more. Disney VoluntEARS, personnel from the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves and the Anaheim Fire and Rescue will be on hand to help collect your donations.

To make it even easier, Downtown Disney District stores will host a “pop-up shop” that will help you provide those donated purchases. You also may donate at collection bins located in all three Hotels of the Disneyland Resort.

Tis’ the season…..to eat good food! There is definitely no shortage of holiday-themed sweet treats around Walt Disney World and the All-Star Resorts are no exception. At all three All-Star Resorts, you can tempt your taste buds with the Mickey Maple Cherry Santa Hat Dome Cake for $5.99 or the Christmas Tree Sugar Cookie for $5.29. One thing we love about the Walt Disney World Resort around the Holidays is seeing the amazing Gingerbread Displays.  We were excited to see The Boardwalk Inn & Villas Resort has their 2017 display up.  This year they are featuring some of the businesses along The Boardwalk.

You are sure to recognize some of your favorite Boardwalk eateries.

The Flying Fish is wonderfully represented with its rounded entrance and blue flying fish.  You will also spot Trattoria al Forno, which became even more popular than ever this year when the all-new Bon Voyage Breakfast was introduced.  If you have a sports fan in your family, you have likely spent some time in the ESPN Club catching a game while enjoying some adult beverages and pub-style food.  The Boardwalk Bakery is the place to visit for a sandwich and a specialty cupcake.

Look closely to see what Mickey Mouse is cooking up!

DVC Moonlight Magic is returning in 2018!

We have great news! The Disney Vacation Club Moonlight Magic event is returning to Walt Disney World & Disneyland in 2018. 

Complimentary Moonlight Magic events invite Disney Vacation Club Members and special guests to turn Disney Parks into their own personal playgrounds at the end of the parks’ operating days. While attendees may get a jump start on the fun by mixing in with the regular crowd earlier in the evening, the real magic happens after the park has closed to the public. It’s then that privileged partiers discover shorter-than-usual wait times on popular attractions, meet off-the-beaten-path characters, enjoy complimentary refreshments, let loose at dance parties and more.

Here’s a look at the confirmed 2018 Moonlight Magic schedule, including the dates on which online reservations will open for each event:

  • Jan. 11 and 28, and Feb. 6 at Magic Kingdom Park 
    (Booking begins for Members with Resort reservations on the event dates Dec 7. Pending availability, booking opens for all Members on Dec 21.)
  • March 21, April 17 and May 16 at Disney’s Animal Kingdom
    (Booking begins for Members with Resort reservations on the event dates Feb 8. Pending availability, booking opens for all Members on Feb 22.)
  • May 30 and June 11 at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park
    (Booking begins for Members with Resort reservations on the event dates April 19. Pending availability, booking opens for all Members on May 3.)
  • July 16 and Aug. 13 at Epcot
    (Booking begins for Members with Resort reservations on the event dates June 6. Pending availability, booking opens for all Members on June 20.)
  • Sept. 19 and 26, and Oct. 3 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios
    (Booking begins for Members with Resort reservations on the event dates Aug 30. Pending availability, booking opens for all Members on Sept. 13.)
  • Nov. 15 at Disney California Adventure Park
    (Booking begins for all Members on Oct. 4.)

Please note that, in order to allow as many Members as possible to enjoy Moonlight Magic, only one event date for each participating park will be available per Membership. Watch disneyvacationclub.com for additions to the Moonlight Magic event slate, as well as party hours and transportation information.

An R.S.V.P is required for these events. At least one valid Disney Vacation Club Membership Card with photo ID will be required for these experiences. Activities, entertainment, and Characters are subject to change and these events are subject to cancellation in the event of inclement weather.

Festival of Fantasy Parade

Heads up for guests visiting the Magic Kingdom this weekend. Orlando Theme Park News is reporting that there will be additional entertainment prior to the Festival of Fantasy Parade December 1, 2, and 3. Approximately 400 cheerleaders and dancers from across the United States will participate in a pre-parade march hosted by the Disney Performing Arts Festival Events.

The march will begin at 1:30 pm starting from Splash Mountain’s backstage gate in Frontierland. After the parade, the participants will be free to enjoy the rest of their day at the Magic Kingdom.

Holiday magic is everywhere at the Disneyland Resort and the Downtown Disney District this season. At Downtown Disney, Guests are invited to enjoy great shopping, festive treats, holiday-themed entertainment, and much more!

The Downtown Disney District has “decked its halls” for an over-the-top holiday experience. Planters are bursting with oversized ornaments and bright holiday lighting, and a Christmas tree sparkles in the center of the promenade. In addition, nightly entertainment throughout the holiday season includes a new caroling act, Holiday Harmony. While their sweaters may be ugly, their voices certainly are not!

  • Breakfast with Santa: At Catal Restaurant, join Santa Claus and his elves for a family-style breakfast, carolers and more! All kids will receive a Build-A-Bear Workshop teddy bear from Santa himself! (Dec. 16; Dec. 21-22)
  • Sundae Treats: Enjoy a special Haagen-Dazs holiday treat! Scoops of peppermint bark ice cream are layered with hot fudge and Oreos, and topped with whipped cream and candy piece. Also available as a milkshake!

Holiday Shopping

  • PANDORA Jewelry: If you pick up a Mickey & Minnie “Love Icons” charm at PANDORA Jewelry, you’ll enjoy a free Disney clutch with purchase while supplies last. Enjoy a gift for yourself!
