Yak and Yeti Restaurant Inside Animal Kingdom Closed Today

Yak and Yeti, the table-service restaurant located at the base of Expedition Everest inside Animal Kingdom, will be closed today (Thursday July 20, 2017) for maintenance. All of the other dining locations at Animal Kingdom will be operating as normal.

Guests with reservations to Yak and Yeti today may call (407) 828-2727 to receive help booking a new dining experience.

Yak and Yeti Restaurant is a themed dining location that serves delicious dishes from various regions across Asia. This eclectic eatery offers a menu of sweet-and-sour chicken, ahi tuna nachos, pork pot stickers and Kobe beef burgers. Vegetarian options abound, as do kid-friendly choices like egg rolls, cheeseburgers and chicken tenders.

The Music of Pixar Live! Now Available for FastPass+

Hollywood Studios latest addition, The Music of Pixar Live!, has just added another option to secure your seat for what has proven to be a popular show this summer. FastPass+ are now available for each of the three evening shows.

The Music of Pixar Live! is a limited-time nightly concert series that showcases a selection of unforgettable soundtrack favorites from Cars, Finding Nemo, Monsters, Inc., Toy Story and Up. The show performed by a live orchestra, all while giant screens feature a movie montage and outtakes. The show debuted at the end of May and is scheduled to wrap up on August 27, 2017.

In addition to the newly introduced FastPass+ for The Music of Pixar Live!, guests can also secure reserved seating for one of the three nightly shows through a Dining package. Who said dining at Disney needs to break the bank? There’s no better place to find affordable eats during your Walt Disney World visit than the delightful kiosks and shops located around Epcot’s World Showcase. And to demonstrate the fact that visitors can find amazing eats at affordable prices, Disney Parks Blog released this mouth-watering video of dishes found at each of the countries around the World for around $5. Just to re-cap, the tasty treats found in this clip are as follows:

1. Churros with Caramel Sauce- From La Cantina de San Angel (Mexico). The cost of this much-loved snack is $4.25

2. School Bread – These Cardamom buns with Vanilla Creme Custard filling can be found at Kringla Bakeri Og Kafe in Norway and have become one of Epcot’s must-eat snacks. Give one a try for $3.29

3. Curry Chicken Pockets- For a treat that eats like a meal these savory pockets can be found at Joy of Tea in the China Pavilion and cost $4.50

4. Nudel Gratin – This is another savory snack that you can find at Sommerfest in Germany. Its baked macaroni with a cheese custard and costs $4.29.

5. The American Dream – Perfect for cooling off in the Summer heat this drink is comprised of frozen strawberry, vanilla ice cream and a blue raspberry slushy and can be found at Fife and Drum Tavern in the American Adventure. The cost for this beverage is $5.25.

6. Green Tea Cheesecake – This tasty dessert can be found in Japan at Katsura Grill. Visitors can grab a slice for $4.25.

7. Tangierine Couscous Salad – Another perfect dish to tide you over until dinner, the Couscous Salad can be found at Tangierine Cafe in Morocco and costs $3.99.

8. Napoleon – This delectable puff pastry with layered cream can be found at Les Halles Boulangerie-Patisserie in France and costs $4.25.

9. Victoria Sponge Cake – This traditional British pudding can be found at the Yorkshire County Fish Shop in the United Kingdom for $4.29.

Seems like everywhere we go we hear about Christmas in July and Disney Springs is no exception. Specialty Cocktails are always a great way to celebrate the Holiday Season. We decided to Celebrate Christmas in July with one of Dockside Margaritas Snowball Margaritas.

Dockside Margaritas can be found along the waterside at Disney Springs Marketplace across from the Markeplace Co Op. We love drinks with Blue Curacao and the Snowflake Margarita does not disappoint on flavor. Don’t forget to say yes to the salt as the salted rim of the cup definitely enhances the flavor.

Oh what fun it is! The Snowball Margarita, while really not particularly special, is a colorful, fun and refreshing cocktail that is sure to hit the spot while waiting in line at the Days of Christmas Store to see Santa Claus. Ho, Ho, Ho! Merry Christmas in July Chip and Company Fans! Come meet Santa Claus during the Disney Springs Christmas In July Event from July 15th-July 30th. Be sure to stop by the Days of Christmas shop from 1:00pm -10:00pm daily to meet the Jolly Old Elf himself. Disney photographers will be on hand to capture the moment you meet Santa Claus in July!

Here comes Santa Claus, here comes Santa Claus, in July at Disney Springs. Wait, what? Santa is looking very festive in his summer Florida attire this week at Disney Springs as he celebrates Christmas in July. We love his red converse sneakers, white knee socks, red shorts, white gloves and festive holiday shirt.

No Holiday Chalet for Santa in July as he is on vacation after all. Stop by Disney Springs and hop in line outside the Days of Christmas shop. Here you will find a festive atmosphere complete with umbrellas to provide shade and friendly Cast Members meandering about serving up some free samples of Goofy’s Glaciers Slurpies in a variety of flavors. We loved the Blue Raspberry ones. While waiting in line, you cannot help but sing along to the Christmas songs that are being piped in for the occassion.

We are so thrilled that Santa decided to vacation at the Walt Disney World Resort in July. He is set up with a Summer Christmas in July backdrop featuring a large beach chair, ocean background and sandy colored flooring. Disney Photographers will take your pictures so be sure to wear your Magic Band and have your photos scanned to your band. You can have your Holiday pictures with Santa ready to go for those Christmas cards in December. Mark that item off your Holiday checklist!

This year, 2017, marks the first-ever Christmas in July Event at Disney Springs. Is this the beginning of an even grander, more festive event next year? Disney Couples Vacation Shirts

I’m such a sucker for anything with Stitch and Angel on it, they are probably one of my favorite Disney couples after Donald and Daisy! I totally had a case of the “awwwweee”s when I saw these Disney Couples Vacation Shirts featuring Stitch and Angel!

Not only did these adorable shirts feature Stitch and Lilo, but they came on such beautiful tees! The stitch is on a true royal blue heather tee, and the Angel is on a raspberry pink heather tee, each complimenting the matching character perfectly. Of course I had to peak at what other goodies this Etsy shop had, and found other great couples shirts, including you guessed it; Donald and Daisy!

New Pandora MagicBands Debut This Summer In Walt Disney World

Fans of the new Animal Kingdom expansion Pandora, will be excited to find two new Pandora MagicBands that have recently launched. These colorful new MagicBands feature the vibrant colors of Pandora with imagery showcasing the new land.

The new Pandora bands will be a limited edition of 5000 each, and come in complimenting decorative boxes. In addition to these beautiful new bands, new Tsum Tsum, Hercules, and Steamboat Willy bands have also popped up.

Pandora: The World of Avatar Limited Edition MagicBand 2 – Valley of Mo’ara

Explore all the wonders of Pandora: The World of Avatar at Walt Disney World Resort in the limited edition Valley of Mo’ara MagicBand 2. This design is on the new teal colored MagicBand being offered, and features the floating mountains and banshees.

The Future of Future World at Epcot

As you know, several huge announcements were made at this year’s D23 Expo. Disney released this awesome “Blue Sky” concept photo hinting on the changes that are to come to Future World. Our friends over at Inside the Magic dissected the photo and broke down what the future holds for Future World.

Let’s take a closer look:

As one would imagine, the park’s iconic Spaceship Earth will not be going anywhere. However, the area to the rear of the ride appears to be significantly reduced. It appears that the Innoventions and character meet and greet buildings will be demolished with the completion of the re-imagined Future World.

It appears that the space currently occupied by the Innoventions building will be replaced with vegetation. We also may see the the entrance to the new Guardians of the Galaxy attraction in this area. It was just announced at the Expo that this attraction would be replacing the current Universe of Energy.

On the west side of Future World, it looks like a new maze-like hedge structure and water area look to be installed in front of the Land.

The Club Cool and Mouse Gear buildings appear to be getting some extensive renovations if they are not even completely removed. Maybe we will see a completely new dining option along with a new merchandise shop.

One last thing to point out from the “Blue Sky” photo is the addition of a new water feature at the entrance to the World Showcase. It also looks like some new walkways will be added to make it easier for folks to get to the World Showcase from Future World.

Keep in mind this is all just speculation at this point. Disney was very careful to say during the announcement of the changes coming that this is an initial look at what may be to come but many changes can happen between now and when the dust settles on the new Future World.

Mickey Helps Surprise Siblings with Adoption Announcement

Nothing can be more magical than visiting Mickey Mouse at Walt Disney World. Well, what if you found out that you were going to be adopted by your foster parents by Mickey Mouse himself?! That is exactly what happened to 12-year-old Janielle and her brother, 10-year-old Elijah on their visit this past Spring.

Courtney and Tom Gilmour, the foster parents of Janielle and Elijah, took a trip to Orlando to visit the Star Wars convention and to see Mickey during their first visit to the Magic Kingdom.

Courtney said the kids were both the biggest fans of all things Disney so having Mickey Mouse be a part of their adoption announcement was a no-brainier. She said, “No matter what was going on in their lives they always had happy Disney related memories.” She also added,“The more I thought about it, the more I thought, ‘How cool would it be for Mickey to help up a sign telling the kids?’”

The siblings were beyond excited to see their favorite Mouse in person. Their excitement went to the next level when they were also showed the sign announcing their upcoming adoption date. As you can imagine, tears were had by all.

Courtney just recently uploaded this now viral video to Facebook of the surprise announcement. Get your tissues ready and take a look at the magic that was had:

Courtney said, “My favorite part was hearing the kids start to read the sign and seeing the pure excitement. The kids were floating afterwards and just so excited! They immediately started counting down the days to the adoption.”

As an adoptee, this might be my personal favorite of all the stories I have written. I am so happy for the Gilmour family and which them all my best. I just love that Mickey was able to be a part of this special day.

Orange County Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Darion Butler has been suspended due to accusations of substandard quality of work, destroying evidence or giving false testimony during an investigation and conduct unbecoming a fire employee.

This comes in the wake of two other firefighters being suspended that Butler supervises. Earlier this month both Glen Kiture and Christopher Huntley were caught reselling free Walt Disney World tickets.

After the Pulse terror attack in June 2016, Disney gave each first responder in the jurisdiction of Pulse four tickets to Walt Disney World to enjoy with their families. The gesture was meant to show first responders how grateful Central Florida was for their bravery. Disney let them know that the tickets could not be sold for profit.

According to investigators, firefighters Kiture and Huntley sold their tickets online. The families who purchased the tickets were told at the gate that their tickets had been flagged and were denied entry to the park.

Investigators said that Butler only suspected an issue the day before a family filed a formal complaint and a report with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office. Instead of reporting the issue through the proper channels, Butler tried to resolve the problem himself. He used Huntley’s phone and called the family pretending to be a Disney employee.

Investigators reported that Butler said, “I would like to find out your experience you had with Disney and if there was any problems with your tickets. If you would please try to contact Walt Disney World again and we will try to accommodate your again.”

Butler’s suspension begins on July 22nd.

On a personal note, please don’t be fooled by online ticket scammers. Websites that seem to be offering super low prices on Disney tickets are almost guaranteed to be scams. Unfortunately, there is no way to find out if a ticket you bought online is any good before your trip. I can’t imagine the heartache of showing up to the Magic Kingdom only to be denied entry.

Disney Villain Forever Stamps Are Now Available

The Disney Villain Stamps have arrived! I picked mine up at the post office today and I thought I would share them with everyone. They are beautiful Forever stamps so my sheet of 20 cost $9.80.

Each stamp showcases one of 10 classic Disney villains against a blue background: Maleficent (Sleeping Beauty), Honest John (Pinocchio), Cruella De Vil (One Hundred and One Dalmatians), Captain Hook (Peter Pan), the Queen of Hearts (Alice in Wonderland), Lady Tremaine (Cinderella), Ursula (The Little Mermaid), the Queen (Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs), Gaston (Beauty and the Beast), and Scar (The Lion King).

The words “USA” and “FOREVER” appear in the top right corner or bottom right corner of each stamp and the name of the classic villain and the movie in which the character appears runs along the left edge.

Copper Creek Villas & Cabins Grand Opening Event Review

The newest addition to the Disney Vacation Club, Copper Creek Villas & Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, opened to guests on July 17th. We were on hand to tour the Villas, the Cabins and the Boulder Ridge Cove Pool. We participated in group-style interviews with Disney Leaders and we witnessed the official Grand Opening Ceremony officiated by Mickey Mouse. Here is our review of the Copper Creek Villas & Cabins Grand Opening Event.

The Deluxe Studios Villas can sleep up to 4 people. These lovely accommodations feature a queen-size bed, queen-size sleep sofa, kitchenette, flat screen television and full bathroom. Each studio also has either a private balcony or patio.

One-Bedroom Villas are beautifully appointed with a King-size bed in the private bedroom, queen-size sleep sofa, full kitchen, stacked washer and dryer, walk-in shower, bathtub, large wardrobe, flat screen television and outdoor patio or balcony. These lovely Villas sleep up to 4 people.

The grandest of all the Villas is the Three-Bedroom Grand Villa. These stunning Villas feature a large dining area as well as breakfast bar seating at the island. Grand Villas also feature a full kitchen, walk-in closet, king-size bed in the master bedroom, two queen-size beds in each of the other two bedrooms and a queen-size sleeper sofa. With the ability to sleep up to 12, the Grand Villas are certainly the place to gather with family. The master bathroom has a beautiful soaker tub as well as a walk-in shower. We love the wood and tile floors throughout the Villas. The carpet-free atmosphere is allergy-friendly and environmentally friendly too! Look for the in-mirror television in the master bathroom and watch for morning and evening light features through the geode glass window that connects the master bedroom and bathroom.

We left the Boulder Ridge Villas Building and headed over to the Cascade Cabins. We could not help but admire the beautiful views throughout this Resort.

The grounds of the Copper Creek Villas & Cabins also feature great Grill areas. Imagine being able to relax with the family, while grilling outdoors, after a busy day at one of the Walt Disney World Parks.

As you approach your Cascade Cabin be sure to look for all the fun elements that have been added. Each cabin has a stone marking with the cabin number. Atop you will notice that each cabin has its own lantern; and every one is different. Animal footprints in the walkway lead you to your cabin and your front porch will feature a really cool wood-stump bench.

As you enter your Cabin you will notice a wood mantel mounted to the wall. But more importantly, take some time to admire the wood stump art feature wall. Be sure to take note of the gorgeous lighting fixture suspended from the ceiling. The hall closet houses a high chair and port-a-crib if you happen to be travelling with your little one.

The Cabins have two bedrooms and sleep up to 8 plus 1 Infant in a port-a-crib. The master bedroom has a king-size bed and fully equipped master bathroom to include a bubble-jet tub. The second bedroom features a queen-size bed plus a pull-down twin bed and a lovely window seat with large storage drawers underneath. The main living area has a queen-size sofa sleeper and a sleeper chair. The cabins have 2 full baths plus one 1/2 bath, washer and dryer, and double-sided gas fireplace (our absolute favorite feature). The kitchens are fully equipped with full-size appliances, a table for 8 plus a small island with stools for seating. The wood features throughout adhere to the Pacific Northwest theme throughout the resort.

The outdoor screened porch overlooks the water. You will not mind having a Resort day when you have this hot tub, picnic table, rocking chairs facing your gas fireplace and these views!

The new Boulder Ridge Cove Pool highlights the Crane from the former Backlot Tour’s Catastrophe Canyon. There is a waterfall feature and the pool is handicap accessible. You will find Cabanas poolside and are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. The pool is a nice place to relax and cool off, or just catch some of the Florida Sunshine available most days at the Walt Disney World Resort.

Walt Disney was very fond of trains as many of us already know. The Imagineers incorporated Artwork featuring acknowledgments to the Carolwood Pacific Railroad; which was the miniature that Walt had in his back yard. Another fun point to make here is that all of the Villas and Cabins do have Hidden Mickey’s. It’s all in the details!

The Grand Opening Ceremony itself was filled with lively music, a few jokes, some really good speeches about this magnificent resort and the one who started it all, Mickey Mouse himself when he officially opens the Copper Creek Villas & Cabins with a pull of the Train Whistle. After the Grand Opening Ceremony we were treated to Frozen S’mores and they were delicious.
