Walls up for New Avengers Campus Expansion in California Adventure

Walls Rise as Avengers Campus Expands!

The landscape of Disney California Adventure is evolving as preparations for the expansion of Avengers Campus get underway. To accommodate the construction of new attractions and a possible new restroom facility, the convenient guest walkway that once offered a seamless transition from Cars Land to Avengers Campus has been temporarily closed.

The affected pathway provided a direct route for guests moving between the nostalgic charm of Cars Land and the heroic encounters of Avengers Campus. From Cars Land, the entrance was easily located on the right, nestled between the iconic Radiator Springs Curios and the spinning fun of Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters. Upon reaching Avengers Campus via this walkway, guests found themselves near the land’s back corner, a point situated between the intriguing Ancient Sanctum and the Avengers Vault store. It’s worth noting that the Ancient Sanctum was once home to the captivating “Dr. Strange: Mysteries of the Mystic Arts” show, a guest favorite that unfortunately ended its performances last year.

avengers wall

The once-open pathway is now completely obstructed by construction walls on both ends. In a clever nod to the surrounding environments, the walls sport contrasting colors that seamlessly blend with their respective lands. Approaching from Avengers Campus, the construction barrier is a striking bright blue. On the Cars Land side, the walkway is similarly blocked by walls painted a matching bright brown, echoing the color of the adjacent fence and maintaining visual consistency.

With the direct walkway now closed due to the Avengers Campus expansion, guests traveling from Cars Land will need to take a slightly longer, but clearly marked, alternative route. This involves backtracking along the main thoroughfare towards the edge of Pacific Wharf. Once there, guests should take the wider pathway on the right, which will lead them directly into Avengers Campus.

Are you looking forward to the Avengers Campus expansion and new attractions?

New Eats Arrive at Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant

The glow of vintage televisions and the rumble of cartoon carhops recently welcomed us to the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant at Hollywood Studios. Our visit had a delicious purpose: to explore the fresh and exciting new menu items they’ve unveiled.

dine in

Stepping into the Sci-Fi Dine-In is like taking a delicious trip back to the 1950s, and the menu wholeheartedly embraces this retro vibe. You’ll find classic American comfort food gracing the offerings, from thick and creamy milkshakes to juicy burgers and crispy fries – the quintessential drive-in fare. However, even a journey through time needs a little refreshment, which is why we eagerly returned to explore the exciting new additions that have recently landed on their menu.

burger

We started our tasting with the Feature Film Burger, a frequently updated special, so remember to check with your server for the current toppings. When we visited, this $26 burger featured their signature beef blend topped with sliced corned beef, Swiss cheese, and house-made sauerkraut, all served on a pretzel bun. Our order included a side of classic fries.

The texture of the Feature Film Burger was a tale of two halves: a satisfying crispness contrasted with a slightly burnt edge on the patty. Thankfully, the toppings largely redeemed the experience. The delicate tenderness of the thinly sliced corned beef was impressive, and the sauerkraut delivered a delightful tang that left us wishing for just a little more. The unifying Thousand Island-esque sauce was a welcome addition. Our one wish for improvement would be a more pillowy and less dense pretzel bun.

chicken sandwich

Rounding out our savory selections was the tempting Fried Chicken Cordon Bleu Sandwich, priced at $22. This substantial offering features a crispy fried chicken thigh, generously topped with savory ham and melted Swiss cheese. It’s all served on a bed of peppery arugula, enhanced by their signature maple dijon sauce, and nestled within a soft brioche bun.

dessert

To bring our retro-futuristic dining experience to a sweet close, we couldn’t resist trying the brand-new Cerulean Moon dessert, priced at $9.50. This visually striking creation features a smooth chocolate mousse dome, revealing a delightful strawberry filling within. It rests upon a buttery graham cracker tart and is accompanied by a vibrant hibiscus sponge, a sprinkle of whimsical green “space dust,” and a drizzle of rich chocolate-caramel sauce.

The chocolate mousse in the Cerulean Moon was rich, smooth, and intensely chocolatey, though its density might not appeal to those seeking a lighter mousse. The strawberry filling at the base offered a burst of fresh strawberry flavor. Interestingly, the hibiscus sponge cake tasted like plain cake, without any floral notes. The green “space dust” appeared to be crispy flakes with an undefined flavor.

Which of these items would you like to try at Sci-Fi Dine-In at Hollywood Studios?

New Update on SunRail Train Connecting Orlando Airport to Disney World and Universal Orlando

Sunshine on the Rails? SunRail Extension Could Bring Big Changes for Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando Travelers

Getting from the airport to your favorite Orlando theme park may one day be smoother, cheaper, and way more relaxing — if a long-awaited rail expansion finally gets the green light.

According to reporting by the Orlando Sentinel, the Central Florida Commuter Rail Commission just unanimously approved a critical $6 million feasibility study for the proposed Sunshine Corridor, a game-changing SunRail extension that would connect Orlando International Airport to the heart of the tourist corridor — including stops near Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando Resort, the Orange County Convention Center, and International Drive.

For visitors navigating Central Florida’s ever-busy highways, this could be a major win.

What Is the Sunshine Corridor?

The Sunshine Corridor is a proposed rail link that would extend east from existing SunRail tracks to Orlando International Airport (MCO) and west toward Disney Springs, International Drive, and the Orange County Convention Center — all major destinations for tourists and business travelers alike.

This route would directly benefit guests headed to Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando by providing an alternative to ride-shares, rental cars, and hotel shuttles. The expansion would also add 12 miles of track that would later support Brightline’s future high-speed connection to Tampa, further increasing accessibility for travelers arriving from both coasts.

Why This Matters for Tourists

  • Easier Airport Access: No more dealing with I-4 traffic or trying to guess which Terminal your ride-share driver is circling. Visitors could hop on a train at the airport and head straight toward their resort or convention.
  • Disney & Universal in Reach: While station stops still need to be finalized, early plans call for stops near Disney Springs and Universal Orlando — and Universal has already donated 13 acres for a future station at the Convention Center.
  • More Transportation Options: With Brightline now serving MCO and growing SunRail ridership, this extension could transform the way both locals and tourists get around Orlando.

A Long Journey to the Station

The project still has miles to go before any track is laid. The newly approved two-year study — known as a Project Development and Environmental (PD&E) analysis — will examine everything from station locations and operational costs to ridership projections and environmental impacts. It’s a mandatory step before federal or state funding can even be considered.

Estimated to cost at least $4.4 billion to build, the Sunshine Corridor won’t be cheap. But it has the backing of heavy-hitting stakeholders: the Florida Department of Transportation is contributing $2 million toward the study, Universal Destinations & Experiences is adding another $2 million, and the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District (the District that oversees the property upon which the Walt Disney World Resort is situated) has pledged $500,000.

Walt Disney World has not publicly commented on the project or its involvement in the corridor, but with Disney Springs named as a potential stop, the House of Mouse stands to gain as well — especially when it comes to easing guest arrival logistics.

What’s Next?

With the PD&E study now in motion, the next two years will determine whether the Sunshine Corridor is truly feasible — and if so, how soon the vision could come to life.

In the meantime, traffic-weary tourists and locals alike will be watching closely. If the Sunshine Corridor becomes reality, it could mark one of the biggest transportation upgrades to hit Central Florida since the opening of MCO itself.

TL;DR for Theme Park Travelers:

  • 🚆 SunRail may soon connect Orlando Airport to major tourist spots, including Disney Springs and Universal Orlando.
  • 🌞 The project is called the Sunshine Corridor, and a key $6 million feasibility study is now underway.
  • 🛫 Tourists could one day ride the rails from their flight straight to the fun — say goodbye to rental cars and gridlock!
  • 💸 At least $4.4 billion would be needed to build it, and this new study is the essential first step.
  • 🎢 Universal is all in — donating land and funding — and Disney could benefit big-time too.

Stay tuned as we track this potential transportation game-changer!

Refillable Mugs Vanish from Typhoon Lagoon: Here’s a Breakdown of What We Know So Far

If you’re headed to Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon for a day of splashin’ and snackin’, here’s a heads-up that might leave some guests high and dry: refillable mugs are currently not available at the water park.

That’s right — the beloved souvenir mugs that once let guests sip unlimited drinks all day long are nowhere to be found. Not only are the refill stations gone, but even the machines themselves have been blocked off. If you’re planning to bring a mug from a previous visit, unfortunately, you won’t be able to reactivate it or fill it up.

Disney Discontinues Refillable Mugs at its Water Parks

These refillable mugs have been a staple at Typhoon Lagoon for years, offering a one-time purchase for unlimited fountain drinks, with the option to reuse them on future visits. Their sudden disappearance comes just as the water park reopened on May 1 following its seasonal refurbishment — and while Stitch was on hand to greet guests and cause a little mayhem, the mugs were most definitely not.

So… Is This Change Permanent?

At this time, Disney has not confirmed whether the removal of refillable mugs is a temporary change or a permanent policy shift. There has been no official announcement, so we’re keeping our ears to the ground (and our eyes on the drink machines) for any updates. Whether this is due to an equipment refresh, staffing adjustment, or a broader change in beverage service strategy remains to be seen.

What’s Still Available?

Good news for collectors (and thirsty guests): the Miss Tilly Sipper Cup — themed after Typhoon Lagoon’s iconic shipwreck centerpiece — is still available! And yes, it still includes unlimited refills for the rest of the day of purchase. So if you’re craving that tropical splash of Powerade or soda between lazy river loops, this is your best bet.

As of now, there’s no word on whether Blizzard Beach will resume refillable mug service when it reopens on May 21. When both parks are running at the same time for the first time since 2019, it’ll be interesting to see if the refillable option floats back into the lineup.

Until then, if you’re visiting Typhoon Lagoon, plan to purchase drinks à la carte — or pick up a Miss Tilly sipper to hydrate in style.

Surf’s Up, Stitch! The Blue Alien is Making a Splash at Typhoon Lagoon This Summer

Hang ten with Experiment 626! As Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon reopens its gates this Thursday, May 1, there’s one extra-special reason to soak up the sun and ride the waves: Stitch is back, and he’s ready to cause some good old-fashioned tropical mayhem!

That’s right, everyone’s favorite mischief-making alien has traded his space suit for a lei and is popping up for surprise appearances at Typhoon Lagoon throughout the summer season. You’ll find him chilling (or rather, thrilling) near the Surf Pool outside The Board Room, which just got a fresh coat of vibrant paint, making it the perfect selfie station. With the beachy vibes, bright colors, and a splash of outer space chaos, it’s a must-stop spot for Stitch fans.

Say Aloha to Summer Fun with Stitch

Whether you’re team “ohana means family” or just love a good photo op with a character who knows how to party, spotting Stitch at Typhoon Lagoon is a highlight you won’t want to miss. He rocks a colorful lei and brings tons of personality — be prepared for some hugs, hijinks, and maybe even a shaka or two.

Keep your camera ready because Stitch’s appearances are unscheduled and spontaneous, just like the little guy himself. And trust us: nothing says “best vacation ever” like a beach day photobombed by a blue alien.

Make a Splash Beyond Stitch

Of course, there’s a tidal wave of fun waiting beyond character sightings! Typhoon Lagoon is bursting with thrills like Crush ‘n’ Gusher, Miss Adventure Falls, and the heart-pounding Humunga Kowabunga. If you’re more into chill than thrill, float your worries away down Castaway Creek or soak up the sun on sandy shores. And the little adventurers in your crew? They’ll be busy giggling and splashing in Ketchakiddee Creek, built just for them.

Don’t forget to fuel up! From barbecue chicken flatbread to indulgent chocolate chip ice cream sandwiches, this isn’t your average water park menu. And yes, the fan-favorite Waterparks Sand Pail Sundae is back and ready to be devoured.

Glow Wild This Summer with H2O Glow After Hours

Starting May 23 through September 13, Typhoon Lagoon heats up after dark with the return of H2O Glow After Hours! These neon-lit, DJ-spinning, snack-filled nights are perfect for night owls and party animals. Bonus: kids get in for just $42.50 — that’s half the adult price!

And yes, Stitch has been known to light up the night too, so keep your eyes peeled during these special evenings. After all, who parties harder than Stitch?

Double the Water Park, Double the Fun

This summer brings even more splashy goodness: Blizzard Beach reopens May 21! For the first time since 2019, guests can choose between two incredible Disney water parks. Whether you prefer tropical paradise or a snowy slope (in the middle of Florida, of course), you’re covered.

Even cooler? If you’re staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel in 2025, you’ll get free water park admission on your arrival day. Now that’s a warm welcome!

Ready to Ride the Wave?

From Stitch sightings to glow parties and double water park action, Typhoon Lagoon is the place to be this summer. Grab your swimsuit, your appetite, and your favorite alien plushie, and get ready for a summer that’s as unforgettable as Stitch’s laugh.

Add Some Sparkle to Your Day with the New Mickey and Minnie Kendra Scott Necklaces!

Guess what just dropped at the Disney Store? Seriously cute new necklaces from Kendra Scott featuring our main mice, Mickey and Minnie! You know how Kendra Scott does that whole delicate but still makes-a-statement vibe? Well, they’ve totally nailed it with these.

First up, there’s the Mickey Mouse Elisa Necklace. This one’s going for $90, and it’s got that classic Kendra Scott Elisa shape, but with a super fun twist. One side of the pendant has Mickey’s name etched on it, which is just adorable. But wait, there’s more! The other side has this iridescent dichroic glass stone, which basically means it shifts colors and looks all kinds of magical.

It hangs on a pretty 14k gold satellite chain that even has little Mickey icons with sparkly crystals on it. They’re saying it’s a “statement piece,” and I can totally see that, but it also seems like it would be perfect for layering if you’re into that look. Plus, they’re all “it’s unique like you,” which is a sweet touch, right?

Then there’s the Mickey and Minnie Mouse Strand Necklace, and this one’s a little less of a pendant style and more of a delicate strand. It’s priced at $80 and features a whole line of Mickey and Minnie icons in these really pretty sparkling shades of blue, pink, and yellow. They’re calling them “nano gems,” which sounds fancy! The chain is also 14k gold, and it looks like it would be super easy to wear on its own for a subtle pop of Disney love or as a base for layering with other necklaces.

They say it’s a mix of “elegance and whimsy,” and honestly, that sums it up perfectly. It’s the kind of necklace that would just add a little bit of happy to any outfit.

Seriously, if you’re a Disney fan and love a bit of sparkle, you might want to check these out. They seem like the perfect way to add a touch of Disney magic to your everyday look without being over the top. Go snag yours before they disappear!

First up, we’ve got the Lilo & Stitch Hula Stitch Floral Convertible Tote Bag, and it’s seriously calling my name. For $79.90, this isn’t just any old tote. The main part of the bag feels like woven raffia, which just screams “beach day vibes.” But the real showstopper is the front pocket – it’s got Stitch himself doing the hula! He’s even got a little grass skirt (it’s appliqued!) and flowers embroidered all around him. And get this, the sides have more of that grass detail, and the back pocket has Nani and Lilo getting their groove on!

Plus, it’s a convertible, so you can rock it with the top handles, as a backpack, or sling it over your shoulder with the crossbody strap. Talk about versatile!

Then there’s the Lilo & Stitch Hula Group Floral Bucket Crossbody Bag, and this little cutie is priced at $59.90. It’s also got that cool raffia texture and features Stitch, Lilo, and Nani all doing the hula on the front! They’ve got their grass skirts and, of course, those adorable embroidered flowers. This one’s a bucket bag with a drawstring closure, a little handle on top, and a removable crossbody strap. Seriously, can you picture this as your go-to bag for hitting up the Disney parks? I totally can!

Both of these bags are BoxLunch exclusives, so you know they’re gonna be special. If you’re dreaming of sunny days, Hawaiian tunes, and a little bit of Disney magic, you HAVE to check out the Lilo & Stitch Hula Floral Collection. Trust me on this one – you won’t regret it! Go snag yours before they sell out!
