Star Wars Day at Sea Returns to the Disney Fantasy

Disney Cruise Line kicked off the first Star Wars Day at Sea of 2018 today. This special day at sea will once again give fans an incredible way to celebrate the saga’s legendary adventures during their Disney cruise vacation.

Star Wars Day at Sea, a day-long celebration, will take place on 15 weeklong Disney Fantasy sailings to the Caribbean through April. Guests will have the opportunity to sail the high seas alongside Jedi, Wookiees, droids, Stormtroopers and other iconic characters. Cruise guests will also to enjoy abroad the Disney Fantasy all the Star Wars feature films, including the newest film, Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Rey joins the Star Wars Day at Sea in 2018 with a deck show spectacular, “Summon the Force,” and Kylo Ren can be seen at the “Jedi Training Academy.” Guests will even have a chance to help Chewbacca track the Porgs that have been wreaking havoc throughout the ship!

Original Content Plus Your Old Favorites to be Included with Disney’s New Streaming Service

Earlier last year, Disney announced it would be pulling its programming from popular streaming service, Netflix, and create their own streaming service. Today, we are receiving more details on what we can expect from this new streaming service.

Ben Sherwood, President of Disney-ABC Television Group, told Variety that the new service will have about 7,000 to 8,000 of episodes from the Disney-ABC library. In addition, patrons of the new service can expect three to four original series and three to four original movies.

Already, a new series based on the popular “High School Musical” franchise is in the works. Sherwood noted that they are just about ready to sign the producers from the original “High School Musical” to bring the series to their new streaming service.

Disney has not announced a launch date for the new service. However, it should go live sometime in 2019.

Menus Now Available For Enzo’s Hideaway Tunnel Bar & Restaurant at Disney Springs

Lunch, Dinner, and Dessert menus are now available for Enzo’s Hideaway Tunnel Bar located at Disney Springs. Inspired by Florida’s true history of rum running, Enzo’s Hideaway pours Prohibition-era cocktails and serves a casual menu of hearty Roman dishes, such as the city’s legendary Bucatini alla Carbonara (hollow spaghetti with creamy egg and pancetta sauce) and Tonnarelli Cacio e Pepe (square-cut spaghetti with pecorino and black pepper). In honor of the weekly dinners Enzo hosted for family and friends, the tunnel bar hosts Sunday Supper, a family-style meal each week. Enzo’s Hideaway Tunnel Bar will be open from 11:30 a.m. to 1 a.m. daily once it opens.

An official opening date has not been announced but we expect it to be in soft opening any day now. Stay tuned to Chip and Co for the latest info as we get it!

New Background Music to Debut in Hollywood Studios

We all love the music at the parks. That’s always been a big part for me. Today, at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, new music will be debuting around the park that will “make you feel as if you’ve walked right into your very own adventure”. Throughout the park, you’ll notice that the music will complement each area’s setting and timeframe perfectly, as only Disney does best.

Upon entering the park, you’ll hear big band arrangements of many of your favorite Disney tunes. As you make your way down Hollywood Boulevard the music shifts to popular numbers from the 30s and 40s, also in the big band style. Sunset Boulevard will have vocal tracks playing that will make you want to sing along. And you just might think you’re entering an actual concert near Rock’n’ Rollercoaster with what sounds like a real crowd and live versions of classic rock songs by the original artists will be playing in the distance. You will get brassy horns from the 50’s and 60’s near Echo Lake to jazz music near the Baseline Taphouse. And if you listen closely at the newly debuted Grand Avenue, you may hear dialogue coming from the storefronts, birds chirping, traffic noises, children playing, and a retro west coast style of music inspired by present-day Downtown Los Angeles.

2018 is going to be a very exciting year for MagicBands! Earlier we brought you the news of the solid-color Millennial Pink MagicBand and a new brown design featuring the Seven Dwarfs. Today we have more announcements on MagicBands and MagicKeeper colors set to release this month.

The introduction of the MagicBand 2 design gave guests the ability to swap out the center “puck” for different colors or even pop the puck into one of Disney’s popular MagicKeeper accessories. Now guests can make even more unique fashion combinations as three new MagicKeeper colors have been introduced, pink, blue, and purple. Happy Swapping! (see image above)

The first MagicBand on our list pays homage to Mickey Mouse and has taken advantage of the swappable puck idea with a pre-customized black, red, and white MagicBand and a yellow center puck. The new “I Am Mickey” MagicBand is currently available for $22.99 wherever MagicBands are sold.

The next MagicBand on our list will make its debut on January 15th and pays tribute to the fan favorite attraction, Expedition Everest at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. It’s a red MagicBand complete with icons and patches representative of this train ride through the Himalayan Mountains. This Limited Release MagicBand will retail for $27.99 so grab it while you can before the Yeti takes them back.

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and who better to show off on your wrist but Aladdin and Jasmine enjoying a magical moonlit carpet ride. It is a teal Limited Edition MagicBand depicting the happy couple soaring over Agrabah and is now available with an edition size of 2,400 and retails for $32.99.

Rex and Trixie Toy Story Land

This was a big week for Shanghai Disneyland’s Disney•Pixar Toy Story Land. Two new friends came to play! Rex and Trixie, the two beloved dinosaur toys from the Disney•Pixar Toy Story movies, were installed at the Rex’s Racer attraction currently under construction.

Rex and Trixie Arrive At Toy Story Land in Shanghai Disneyland

Rex’s Racer is one of the three major attractions coming to Disney•Pixar Toy Story Land, which is the first post-opening project of Shanghai Disney Resort and will become the theme park’s seventh themed land. Guests visiting Disney•Pixar Toy Story Land will feel as if they’ve been shrunk down to the size of their favorite Toy Story toys for laughter and fun with family and friends in the backyard of Andy, the boy from the hit films. Woody, Buzz and their Toy Story friends will come to life and play in this fully immersive land.

After opening, Rex, Andy’s insecure Tyrannosaurus toy, will invite guests to climb into RC Racer for a thrilling ride on the U-shaped track with help from his Triceratops friend, Trixie. With Rex at the controls, RC Racer, with guests aboard, zips forward and backward at ever increasing heights and exhilarating speed.

The other two attractions, Slinky Dog Spin and Woody’s Round-Up, will allow guests to take a seat inside Slinky Dog’s springy spirals and race around a wavy roundabout, or climb aboard the carts pulled by a herd of ponies rounded up by Sheriff Woody. As the ponies start a little square dance, they will swing their carts to and fro in time to the lively music.

The new themed land will also feature a uniquely themed character greeting area, Meeting Post, and immersive shopping and dining experiences, Al’s Toy Barn and Toy Box Café. Disney•Pixar Toy Story Land is set to open on April 26, 2018.

Those looking to justify the cost of a Disneyland Annual Passports have another delicious reason to give it a go. Disney unveiled this week a brand new popcorn bucket exclusively for passholders.

The buckets were shared by Instagram user disney.doll.aimee and feature Sleeping Beauty Castle in the background and the always lovable Donald Duck. The buckets can be found at both theme parks. They retail for $15 and are eligible for $1 refills through until March.

This Friday, January 12, a brand new multipurpose arena at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex will have its grand opening at Walt Disney World. The moment will be marked with streamers, a high-energy cheerleading routine featuring Minnie Mouse and an official ribbon-cutting.

The grand opening ceremony, part of the 20th-anniversary celebration of ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, will showcase the new multi-purpose sports and entertainment arena, which continues the growth and expansion of the 220-acre Disney sports venue, widely regarded as the leading facility for youth sports in America.

ESPN Wide World of Sports executives and longtime partners from AAU and Varsity will be on hand to officially dedicate the 300,000-square-foot indoor venue, which will host its first event this weekend – the UCA and UDA College Cheerleading and Dance Team National Championship, which runs through Sunday.

In the coming months and years, the 8,000-seat arena, one of the largest in the nation designed specifically for cheer and dance events, will host a variety of major indoor sports events, everything from basketball to volleyball to gymnastics to wrestling, and even
some e-sports events.

The launch of the arena, the third indoor competition venue at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, marks another milestone for the Disney sports facility, which opened in 1997 and pioneered a new type of sports vacation experience where athletes at all levels and
ages can pursue their sports dreams.

Over the last two decades, Disney has expanded its sports business with a relentless growth strategy centered on enhancing existing events, developing new and more diverse events such as tournaments, competitions and entertainment and creating additional sports
experiences that exceed the expectations of guests in a way that only Disney and ESPN can.

CONFIRMED: Signature Services Including Extra FastPasses Offered for Disney World Club Level Guests

rld Resort hotels Walt Disney Woare eligible for “Disney Signature Services” including extra FastPasses.As a Travel Agent, I am frequently asked how one can receive extra FastPasses or even pay for extra ones. Previously, there was no way for any Walt Disney World Guests to receive extras over the three per person, per day. Until now! Beginning Friday, January 12, 2018, Guests staying in Club Level rooms or suites at select Walt Disney World Resort hotels are eligible for “Disney Signature Services” including extra FastPasses!

To qualify for the extra FastPasses, Guests must purchase a 3-day or longer theme park ticket or an annual pass and a theme park extra for $50 plus tax per Guest per day as part of a new, limited pilot program and will receive the following:

Three additional FastPass+ selections per day. FastPass+ attractions and entertainment experiences, the number of selections you can make and available arrival windows are limited.
The opportunity to reserve these three additional FastPass+ selections in more than one theme park when a valid Park Hopper option is also purchased with the ticket.
A booking window of up to 90 days in advance for these three additional FastPass+ selections and the ability to book them at multiple top-tier attractions. Guests may not repeat the same FastPass+ attraction during a single day.
Preferred viewing location for nighttime spectaculars, one per day, including Happily Ever After at Magic Kingdom Park, Illuminations: Reflections of Earth at Epcot, Fantasmic! at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Rivers of Light at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park. Advanced reservation is required and availability of each nighttime spectacular preferred viewing location is limited.

All theme park Guests with valid theme park admission continue to receive up to three FastPass+ selections at a single park per day at no extra charge, as well as additional day-of in-park selections that may be reserved and redeemed one-at-a-time after those initial three selections are redeemed.

This included adventuring down Volcanic Vertical and Tubestone Curl water slides. They were even lucky enough to meet Stitch in the Waikolohe Valley!

This Actor and Golden Globe-winner sure knows how to have a good time!
