Things in the Star Wars universe have officially reached fever pitch with the release of the Star Wars: The Last Jedi trailer last night. (You can find the trailer here).  As we inch ever closer to the cinematic opening on December 15th, there are no shortage of ticket giveaways, discounts and special promotions to help you get in on the fun. Here’s a quick rundown of current offers and where you’ll find them.

Opening Night Events:  Fans hoping to be there the minute the film comes out will be pleased to know that three events will be running on December 14th and these are as follows:

  • An Opening Night Fan Event
  • The Force Awakens and Star Wars: The Last Jedi Double Feature
  • Star Wars Marathon featuring all eight movies.

Each o these events will include exclusive content, Star Wars collectible cards and special concession items. Tickets are NOW ON SALE, so Star Wars fans should contact their local cinemas for further details.

Star Wars Sundays with IMAX at AMC: Each Sunday from December 17th – January 7th, guests who purchase a ticket to see Star Wars: The Last Jedi in IMAX at AMC Theatres will receive an exclusive print from artist Dan Mumford, (while supplies last) with a new poster being revealed each week.

Star Wars Saturdays with IMAX at Regal – If you have a Regal Cinema in your area then be sure to check out their special Saturday Star Wars events.  Each week from December 16th – December 30th, the first 500 guests who attend Star Wars: The Last Jedi at IMAX at Regal Cinemas will receive an exclusive collectible ticket featuring unique artwork with new art being revealed each week

Offer at Alamo Drafthouse:  Guests who purchase advanced tickets can add exclusive Star Wars: The Last Jedi collectibles to your ticket purchase including a commemorative all-Star Wars issue of Birth.Movies.Death, and three incredible Mondo-designed glasses. Available for a limited time only.

Atom Tickets: Moviegoers purchasing Star Wars: The Last Jedi movie tickets via the Atom Tickets app or at atomtickets.com will be able to buy official Star Wars merchandise and could have it shipped to their homes in time for the film’s opening weekend.

December Sailings Announced for Walt Disney World's Ferrytale Fireworks Cruises

One of Disney’s most sought-after dessert parties is making a welcome return just in time for the Holiday Season.  Disney’s Ferrytale Fireworks: A Sparkling Dessert Party will be running on select dates in the lead-in to Christmas.  The dates are December 1, 3, 8, 10 and 15.

This dessert party has always been a fan favorite offering unforgettable views of Magic Kingdom’s evening fireworks display from the iconic General Joe Potter ferryboat as it sails along Seven Seas Lagoon.  To add to the magic, guests booking the cruise as part of your December visit are in for a real treat as the cruises coincide with the dates for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party.  This means the Dessert Party will be showcasing the Holiday Wishes Christmas-themed fireworks.

And did we mention the food? Chefs from the resorts around Seven Seas Lagoon prepare an amazing array of delightful goodies.  The menu will include seasonal specialities like holiday cookies and peppermint cheesecake, as well as hot cocoa with a variety of toppings.  Alcoholic and Non-Alcoholic specialty drinks are also on offer including our favorite the Ferrytale Punch.

In addition to the amazing views and delectable treats, the event will also include festive and fun activities like a Glow-in-the-Dark Scavenger Hunt, where you’ll search for Hidden Mickeys throughout the Ferryboat.  For a special holiday treat, guests will also receive a pair of “Mickey Vision” viewing lenses which will bring a holiday touch or two to the evening fireworks display.

The cost to attend Ferrytale Fireworks: A Sparkling Dessert Cruise is $99 per adult and $69 for children (ages 3-9) which includes tax and gratuities.  A discount of 10% is also offered to Annual Passholders and DVC members.  Bookings should be made well in advance and can be made either via My Disney Experience or by calling 407.WDW.DINE.  The cruises depart from the Transportation and Ticket Center with boarding starting 75 minutes before the evening fireworks display.  The cruise lasts approximately 90 minutes.

Those hitting the parks in January are also in luck as the party will run on Fridays and Sundays throughout the month and will be showcasing the “Happily Ever After” Fireworks display.

Disney's Port Orleans French Quarter Will Begin Room Refurbishments Early 2018

Room refurbishments for Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter will take place in the first half of 2018. The freshening up of rooms is scheduled to begin on January 6 and will wrap up in May 2018.

Each room will undergo a “soft goods” refurbishment. This updating will include new flooring, curtains and bed linens. The rooms will also receive updated technology including new TVs and USB chargers.

During this room refurbishment, it is possible that Guests may see or hear construction, but noise should not be heard from Guest rooms between dusk and 9:00 am. All amenities including dining, merchandise and recreation locations will be available.

And after working for nearly six years to bring this story to life, we were all so excited to see ‘Coco’ on the side of an airplane.”

Fires Around Anaheim, California Cast Dreary Skies in the Disneyland Resort

Earlier today, a brush fire broke out in Anaheim Hills, California and has been rapidly growing. The fire has spread from 25 acres to approximately 2,000 acres within 3 hours. While the Disneyland Resort in nearby Anaheim is not being threatened by the fire at this time, guests in the park have been sharing photos of the eerily orange skies as smoke and ash from the fire move into the area.

New Thor: Ragnarock Featurette Released Featuring Cate Blanchett as Hela

Anticipation is building for Marvel fans with  Thor: Ragnarok scheduled to open in cinemas across the country on November 3rd.  To help whet your appetite until November, Disney has released a Thor featurette providing viewers with insights into what goes into making a great villain, in this case, Hela, played by Oscar-winner Cate Blanchett.

In the latest film in the Thor franchise, Thor is imprisoned on the other side of the universe and without his mighty hammer.  He must get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarok, the destruction of his homeworld at the hands of the ruthless Hela.

Thor: Ragnarok is directed by Taika Waititi and returns Chris Hemsworth starring as Thor and Tom Hiddleston reprising his role as Loki. They are joined by Cate Blanchett, Idris Elba, Jeff Goldblum, Tessa Thompson and Karl Urban, with Mark Ruffalo and Anthony Hopkins.

The Chew, ABC’s hit daytime talk show, arrived at Walt Disney World last week to film 5 episodes during the 2017 EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival. We were lucky enough to attend one of the shows and wanted to share some of the photos we were able to grab.

The cast of The Chew, Mario Batali, Carla Hall, Clinton Kelly and Michael Symon, all came out and greeted the crowd. At one point they had banshees from Animal Kingdom’s Pandora perched on their shoulders.

The show included a hilarious game of Food Pyramid and a video of two Chew super fans enjoying Walt Disney World.

During the show actor/author Chris Colfer joined Mario Batali to cook up a tasty chicken dish.

Chris Colfer is best known for his role on “Glee” as Kurt Hummel. He has also written a children’s series called “The Land of Stories” which Colfer is also in pre-production for directing the film versions. It is interesting to point out that this is Colfer’s first time at Walt Disney World and we can bet it won’t be his last.

Make sure you tune in for all of The Chew’s EPCOT episodes. They begin airing tomorrow on ABC, check your local listings for the time. Our episode will air on Wednesday, October 11th!
