This month is the last chance for teens to apply for next year’s Disney Dreamers Academy. We shared with you this summer details about this amazing opportunity for teens ages 13- 17 years old and now want to remind you that the deadline to apply of October 31 is quickly approaching.

Disney will select 100 students for the 2018 Disney Dreamers Academy with Steve Harvey and ESSENCE magazine. The teens will receive an all-expense paid trip to Walt Disney World Resort where they will participate in immersive career workshops, ranging from animation to zoology. Each student is taught important skills, such as communication techniques, leadership qualities and networking strategies, and are inspired by celebrity speakers and special guests who share their success stories and provide insight on how to reach for their dreams.

And the program, which enters it’s 11th year, is having a huge impact. Some participants have gone on to pursue careers as authors, pilots, doctors, entrepreneurs, journalists and engineers, and even work at Disney.

Any U.S. high school student, ages 13 to 19, can apply through October 31, 2017, and selected participants will be announced in the coming months. To apply, just go to DisneyDreamersAcademy.com.

Disney Springs’ Morimoto Asia is celebrating Halloween with The Pumpkin King. This speciality drink features housemade pumpkin cider with cinnamon infused whiskey and a trick-or-treat spiked candy garnish.

Morimoto Asia opened in 2015 in The Landing area of Disney Springs. This restaurant offers an entirely new dining experience for Guests, including unique exhibition kitchens that provide behind-the-scenes views into traditions like Peking duck carving and dim sum. The restaurant’s massive, 2-story interior includes glittering 20-foot-long chandeliers, Shanghai-influenced lounges, private dining spaces and a second-level sushi bar and lounge with a separate entrance.

Disney World Alters Bus Routes for Two Different Resorts

As the multi-million construction project continues on Buena Vista Drive, Disney World is changing the Resort transportation bus routes in hopes of alleviating some congestion in the area. So far, changes have been announced for Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort and Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge.

Orlando Theme Park News is reporting that buses heading to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge from Disney Springs will bypass Buena Vista Drive completely by turning right onto Bonnett Creek Parkway, left onto Epcot Drive to World Drive South, and eventually to Osceola Parkway.

Buses heading to Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort are also making that right hand turn onto Bonnett Creek Parkway, left onto Epcot Drive to World Drive South, and then eventually onto Buena Vista Drive.

It’s unknown if any other routes will be changed in the future due to the ongoing construction.

Disney Now App Now Streaming Happily Ever After Show

Disney recently launched a new app called Disney Now that streams content from Radio Disney, Disney Channel, Disney Junior, and Disney XD. Well, you can now stream a recorded video of the Happily Ever After fireworks show in Magic Kingdom! All you have to do is view “Shows” and then click “Disney Parks Magic”. This 18-minute video shows as Season 1, Episode 1 of Disney Parks Magic, so expect more streams to find a home on the Disney Now app!

Two Disney Chefs Create Entry For ‘Orlando’s Signature Dish’ Competition

A challenge was issued by Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs for local Orlando chefs to create a signature dish that defines Orlando and expands people’s awareness of who we are as a destination. Of course Disney accepted the challenge! Chefs Bobby Rivera Otero, sous chef at Le Cellier Steakhouse at Epcot, and Jason Stricker, pastry sous chef for Epcot volunteered to craft Disney’s entry in the competition.

The idea was to create a dessert that incorporates local honey as its key ingredient. Did you know that Florida is one of the top five honey-producing states in the U.S., producing 17 million pounds of honey last year?

Chefs Otero and Jason Stricker knocked it out of the park by serving up a Local Wildflower Honey-Mascarpone Cheesecake with Orange Blossom Honey Ice Cream garnished with Fennel Pollen Meringue Kisses and an Orange-scented Cookie. You can see in the picture above that wildflower honey flecked with gold pools in an indentation on the top of the cheesecake. It’s also drizzled over the ice cream and decorated the plate.

Two Disney Chefs Create Entry For 'Orlando's Signature Dish' Competition

Chef Otero, who has been with Disney for over 12 years, knew Chef Stricker was the perfect partner for this collaboration as he had grown up with a grandfather who was a beekeeper in Texas. “The flavor profile of the different honey varieties makes it a versatile ingredient for both sweet and savory dishes.”

Now through Nov. 9, Orlando residents and visitors will have an opportunity to vote to determine the finalists. A judging panel will select the winning dessert that will be announced Dec. 7. If you would like to try this amazing dessert for yourself you can enjoy it at Le Cellier Steakhouse.

Movies Anywhere makes its debut today launching with The Walt Disney Studios as one of its participants. Movies Anywhere enables consumers to manage and watch their personal digital movie collections across studios, retailers and platforms. The best part is that both the app and website are free!

Movies Anywhere creates an unparalleled digital entertainment experience by bringing together the libraries of five Hollywood studios for access across four digital retailers and several popular in-home entertainment systems and mobile devices.

With The Walt Disney Studios, encompassing Disney, Pixar, Marvel, and Lucasfilm, on board alongside Sony Pictures Entertainment, Twentieth Century Fox, Universal Pictures, and Warner Bros. Entertainment, Movies Anywhere offers over 7,300 movies at launch.

Have plans to visit Disney’s Aulani Resort in Hawaii? Are you a fan of Morimoto Asia Restaurant at Disney Springs? If so, you are in luck! It was just announced that Morimoto is opening two new restaurants on the island of Ohau, about 30 minutes away from Aulani!

Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto, a Japanese master chef known for his innovative and signature style of cuisine, will open two restaurants at the all-new Alohilani Resort Waikiki Beach that will officially debut in December 2017. Morimoto Asia Waikiki is set to open this winter while Momosan Waikiki is targeting a 2018 opening.

“I look forward to having Morimoto Asia Waikiki and Momosan Waikiki at Alohilani Resort Waikiki Beach, especially since the island of Oahu is a very special place to me,” said Chef Morimoto. “The stunning views of the beach and water combined with the two distinct dining options that we will offer provide true culinary destination experiences.”

Morimoto Asia Waikiki, the resort’s signature restaurant, will showcase Chef Morimoto’s unique take on Pan-Asian cuisine. The dinner-only menu will feature a variety of flavors representing China, Korea, Japan, Thailand and other regions of Asia, all with Morimoto’s creative touch. Signature dishes that present Chef’s spin on his favorite Asian flavors will include Peking duck, sticky ribs, lo mein, Korean kalbi, dim sum and traditional wok fry dishes such as kung pao chicken and Thai lobster chow fun. Located on the second floor of the resort, Morimoto Asia Waikiki will bring an interactive culinary experience to Waikiki Beach, courtesy of a glass-encased exhibition kitchen that will offer a behind-the-scenes glimpse into culinary preparations and traditions, and outdoor lanais with views of the world famous beaches and sunsets of Waikiki.

For a fun and casual breakfast, lunch and dinner experience at street level with indoor and outdoor dining options, guests can experience Momosan Waikiki, Chef Morimoto’s ramen and yakitori concept. At Momosan Waikiki, noodles are front and center with an array of flavor-forward ramen varieties to choose from, including tonkotsu ramen, Tokyo chicken ramen, tantan and tsukemen. The restaurant will also serve playful small plates and signature appetizers including tetsunabe pork gyoza, crispy mimiga (Japanese fried pig ears), buta kimchi and Chef Morimoto’s signature take on garlic shrimp; innovative salads and classic izakaya style rice dishes; and yakitori including salmon and duck. The menu will showcase 20 sake options, six of which are Morimoto signature sake, red and white wines, draught and bottled beer including Japanese-style lager, three Morimoto signature beers in collaboration with Rouge Ales, and a rotating local Hawaiian brew. This will be Chef Morimoto’s second Momosan location, with the first location opened in New York City in 2016.
