Star Wars The Last Jedi Ice Cream Out On Shelves

Star Wars The Last Jedi Ice Cream Out On Shelves

May the force be with chew! For the release of the latest Star Wars film, cult ice cream makers Ample Hills unleash three custom flavors with gooey, crunchy ingredients.

When “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” was released in 2015, an avalanche of corresponding licensed foods hit market shelves. The only thing that branded products like Stormtrooper Campbell’s soup, Han Solo Pop-Tarts and R2-D2 Coffee Mate creamer had in common was their outrageous commercialism. On the other end of the spectrum were the high-quality Star Wars-branded ice creams from Brooklyn-based Ample Hills Creamery, created from scratch specifically to honor the film. The two flavors—The Light Side and The Dark Side—quickly sold out of its 40,000 pints.

To promote Star Wars: The Last Jedi, opening on December 15th, the Force is once again with Ample Hills. This year, they’ve created three flavors to tell the story: The First Order (salted dark chocolate with chocolate chunks), The Resistance (brown sugar vanilla bean ice cream, and chunks of red velvet cake, butter cake, toffee pieces, and mini-marshmallows), and The Force (sweet cream ice cream with swirls of chocolate fudge, plus white and dark chocolate Valrhona pearls).

40 Whole Foods locations in the Northeast, the FreshDirect website, Ample Hills Creamery locations in New York and New Jersey, as well as amplehills.com, will offer the ice cream. Each pint will cost you about $10 each.

Hollywood Studios’ Min and Bill’s Dockside Diner Gets Name Change

Hollywood Studios' Min and Bill's Dockside Diner Gets Name Change

For years guests have have shortened the name of “Min and Bill’s Dockside Diner”, the counter service dining location at Hollywood Studios, to just “Dockside Diner” when referring to the establishment. It now appears that Disney is following suit. The name has officially been shortened and can be seen already on Disney’s website.

It looks like only the name will change and “Dockside Diner” will continue to serve up specialty foot-long hot dogs, pulled pork sliders and tasty vegetarian fare. Dockside Diner can be found inside of the “tramp steamer” situated on Echo Lake.

Min and Bill refer to the 1930’s comedy-drama film starring Marie Dressler and Wallace Beery. It tells the story of dockside innkeeper Min’s tribulations as she tries to protect the innocence of her adopted daughter Nancy, all while loving and fighting with boozy fisherman Bill, who resides at the inn. Marie Dressler won the Academy Award for Best Actress in 1931 for her performance in this film.

Will you be upset to see the name change?

Disney Failed Trying to Hide Millennium Falcon

What seemed like a great idea by Disney at first was ruined by Google Maps!

As we all know, Disney will go to great lengths to keep secrets about their movies from fans. When it came to hiding the Millennium Falcon that will appear in next month’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi, they thought a great secret hiding spot would be behind several shipping containers near an open golf course.

Well, along came Kevin Beaumont and Google Maps to spoil their hiding spot. Beaumont was looking up Longcorss Studios on Google Maps when he came across what appeared to be the Millennium Falcon surrounded by shipping containers. Longcross Studios is located just outside of London, England and several where several popular other movies have been filmed including Thor: The Dark World and Guardians of the GalaxyIt also appears that this is where Star Wars: The Last Jedi was filmed too.

Disney has not confirmed or denied that this is indeed the Millennium Falcon but it all seems to add up!

Johnny Depp Talks Surprising Guests at Disneyland

Pirates

Pirates

Johnny Depp always dreamed of surprising Guests on Disney’s “Pirates of the Caribbean ride.” He fulfilled his dream at Disneyland Park earlier this year but it sounds like things didn’t go as he planned.

Johnny Depp said on this week’s episode of The Graham Norton Show, “I was very excited to stand stock still and then shout out [in Jack’s voice], ‘Oi, what you lookin’ at?’” he quipped. “I got no reaction whatsoever — nothing!  I then had to start describing the people I was shouting at so they knew I was real.”

He added, “It was exhausting and such a bad idea!”

Ugh! I don’t know if I would have believed it was actually Johnny Depp himself either if I was a Guest on the ride. How cool it would have been but I don’t think I would have known what was going on at first either.

All new “Beauty and the Beast” Stage show premieres on the Disney Dream

All new “Beauty and the Beast” Stage show premieres on the Disney Dream

A tale as old as time takes the stage with “Beauty and the Beast,” a brand-new musical production inspired by Disney’s live-action adaptation of the animated classic. The show expands upon the most imaginative elements of the highly anticipated live- action and classic films to delight Disney Cruise Line guests aboard the Disney Dream.

Audiences once again fall in love with the enchanting fairytale as they embark on a sweeping journey to discover the power of transformation through true love and courage. This new production of “Beauty and the Beast” celebrates the romance, adventure and magic of the live- action film, weaving in the charm and nostalgia of the award-winning animated feature.

“Beauty and the Beast” brings the timeless fable to life like never before, featuring a style of theater that interlaces classic storytelling elements with cutting-edge technology, to create a unique, theatrical experience in the 1,340-seat Walt Disney Theatre. An innovative take on the story transforms renowned songs into spectacular, show-stopping numbers, and lavish costumes and puppetry bring a fresh perspective to beloved characters.

Re-imagining a tale as old as time

Drawing inspiration from the live-action film, the stage musical uses the scenic motif of a music box to guide spectators through the story. Set designer, Jason Sherwood (“Paint Your Wagon,” “Frozen, A Musical Spectacular”), worked in concert with video designer, Aaron Rhyne (“Frozen, A Musical Spectacular,” Broadway’s “Anastasia”), to create a transforming set that takes audiences on a magical journey through the music box, from Belle’s provincial French town to the Beast’s mysterious castle.

To bring “Beauty and the Beast” to the stage, Disney assembled an all-star creative team, led by director and choreographer Connor Gallagher (“Tangled: The Musical,” “Found”). Gallagher collaborated with writer Sara Wordsworth (“Frozen, A Musical Spectacular,” Broadway’s “In Transit”) and a talented collection of Broadway artists to create an imaginative, new approach to this iconic story.

Through a combination of high-definition projections, dynamic scenery and a little bit of Disney magic, this new interpretation of “Beauty and the Beast” creates a visual panorama that reaches beyond the stage and into the audience. Complementing the immersive set, lighting design by four-time Tony Award-nominated, Japhy Weideman, punctuates the powerful emotions of the classic tale.

Orchestrating a song as old as rhyme

“Beauty and the Beast” features songs from the original animated film’s award-winning soundtrack by acclaimed composer Alan Menken and lyricist Howard Ashman. Complementing the score, the show also includes two of the new songs created for the live-action film by Menken and lyricist Tim Rice, “How Does a Moment Last Forever” and “Days in the Sun.” Enchanting arrangements and orchestrations by Matt Castle and Frank Galgano (“Into the Woods”) bring a unique musical identity to the production.

Beloved songs like “Belle,” “Something There” and “Beauty and the Beast” received a musical makeover that reflects the show’s stylized approach, while songs like “Gaston” and “Be Our Guest” leap to the stage as joyful and exuberant production numbers.

One of the most iconic songs in the Disney canon has been completely re-imagined for the stage. “Be Our Guest” is a multi-course French dinner rooted in imagination and fantasy, as rousing choreography and dazzling visual effects fill the stage during this full-fledged spectacle.

Blurring the line between costuming and puppetry, costume designer Sarah Cubbage (Broadway’s “Skylight”) and puppet designer Jeff Conover joined forces to give life to the enchanted objects of “Beauty and the Beast.” Beloved characters like Lumiere, Mrs. Potts and Cogsworth are realized in an unprecedented way, using innovative puppetry and elaborate costumes to bring these characters to life in their true scale.

“Beauty and the Beast” debuted during the Disney Dream voyage departing Nov. 6, 2017, joining an incredible lineup of Broadway-style stage productions aboard the ship, including “The Golden Mickeys” and “Disney’s Believe.” The Disney Dream sails three- and four-night cruises to the Bahamas from Port Canaveral, Fla.
