Hand Sanitizing Stations Have Popped Up at Walt Disney World

If you have avoided the flu this flu season, consider yourself lucky! I’m sure everyone reading this has had the flu themselves or at least no someone who has. I also know that the flu epidemic has people a little on edge about visiting Walt Disney World right now, rightfully so. I am happy to report that Walt Disney World has taken one step to keep us all healthy by installing hand sanitizing stations.

While hand sanitizing stations have been standard on Disney Cruises for years, this is the first time in a while (if ever) we have seen them at Walt Disney World. We first spotted this one above at Hollywood Studios on Saturday afternoon. Since then, we have heard that are all over the Parks including the entrances and exits to the Parks and of course, dining locations.

It’s hard to know at this time if the sanitizing stations will be a permanent feature at Walt Disney World or if they are just out during this rough flu season. As a parent, I would love to see them stick around for good!

Why Are There No Be Our Guest Dinner Reservations Available Beginning in July?

The internet was all abuzz this weekend on why Disney has pulled dinner reservations for Be Our Guest in July. There are some who were able to make their Advanced Dining Reservations for early July. But, after confirming with Disney, all Be Our Guest dinner reservations are unavailable after July 1, 2018, at this time.

I do not have the official reason why Guests are having trouble finding dinner reservations for Be Our Guest, but I do have some ideas.

One of the popular theories that I have seen floating around is that Be Our Guest might be re-classified as a signature dining restaurant. This would mean that it would count as two table service credits if you have a Dining Plan. Currently, the only other signature option at the Magic Kingdom is Cinderella’s Royal Table. If you have dined at Be Our Guest for dinner in the past, you know the Beast is there. Maybe, if it became a signature option, they would add Belle too?

Another idea is that Be Our Guest might be closing for renovations. Some online reports indicated that the renovations will last unitl December. This might sound unlikely as reservations for breakfast and lunch are still available. (I was able to make a lunch reservation for my client who is traveling in July this week with no problems.) However, there has been chatter of expanding the kitchen at Be Our Guest. It is possible that they would just work on the renovations in the evening so Guests could enjoy breakfast and lunch at Be Our Guest during the day. Dinner hours for Be Our Guest are still listed on the official Disney World website.

Another thing to keep in mind is that Be Our Guest recently switched over to paper products for breakfast and lunch. This might play into the refurbishment theory.

Finally, another thought is that Disney will just release Be Our Guest dinner reservations later on. It is not uncommon for Disney to release additional dining reservations inside of a Guest’s 180-day arrival window. (It is also common for FastPasses to be released inside a Guest’s 60-day arrival window!)

Keep following along as if/when we receive official word from Disney, we will be sure to sure to pass it along! There is still no word on what will become of the reservations that were able to made for dinner already in July but we have heard they will be honored. We will bring that to you too if something changes!

Broadway Star Alton Fitzgerald White will be Holding Book Signings at Disney World

Broadway star, Alton Fitzgerald White, will be making several special appearance at the Walt Disney World Resort in the upcoming days.

White, who starred as Mufasa in Disney’s The Lion King, with an unparalleled 4,308 performances, will be at WDW signing his hit new book, My Pride: Mastering Life’s Daily Performance. This book is equal parts memoir and motivation as Alton explores the inspiring ways he triumphed over adversity. He offers insightful advice for mastering daily performance no matter what path you take.

Alton’s schedule is as follows:

January 29th from 11:30am-12:30pm: Epcot, Heritage Manor Gifts in the American Adventure pavilion
January 30th from 11:00am-12:00pm: Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, Discovery Trading Company
January 31st from 700pm-8:00pm: Disney Springs Marketplace, Art of Disney
February 5th from 11:30am-12:30pm: Epcot, Heritage Manor Gifts in the American Adventure pavilion

These events are first-come, first-serve and Cast Members will be on hand distribute a limited number of wristbands at each signing location. Arriving early is in your best interest!

You will also be able to experience Alton on live on stage with fellow Broadway star, Kissy Simmons. Kissy is best known for her performances as Nala in The Lion King. The two will appear together at the America Gardens Theatre as part of the Epcot International Festival of the Arts Disney on Broadway Concert Series January 26-29 and February 2-5. Shows will be at 5:30pm, 6:45pm and 8:00pm.

Shanghai Disney Resort Shares the Joy with Hundreds of Local Children

If there is one thing I love, it’s the stories of Disney’s VoluntEARS and all the good they do in communities around the world!

About 250 children and their caregivers visited the Shanghai Disney Resort last week as a part of the Resort’s “Share the Joy” initiative, which supports children and communities in need.

A special ceremony, lead by resort leaders and Disney VoluntEARS, welcomed everyone to the park. The ceremony also included leaders from the Shanghai Children’s Foundation, a local non-government organization dedicated to caring for children in need.

Not only did the children get to experience all that Shanghai Disneyland has to offer as far as world-class attractions and entertainment, they also go an exclusive look at Chinese New Year offerings such as a performance of Shanghai Swing and visits with “God of Fortune” Pluto in Mickey Avenue.

They were then treated to a special Chinese New Year lunch in Wandering Moon Restaurant, where Disney VoluntEARS hosted traditional Chinese New Year activities with the children. Plus the main mouse himself, Mickey, and Minnie, made a surprise appearance.

Everyone went home with special gifts selected from the resort’s New Year merchandise collection.

A Wrinkle in Time Barbie Dolls

The talented Ava DuVernay and Storm Reid gave a first look at the gorgeous new dolls from the upcoming movie, A Wrinkle in Time. On Instagram and Twitter they both excitedly revealed the new A Wrinkle in Time Barbie Dolls inspired by Mrs. Who, Mrs. Which, and Mrs. Whatsit.

Storm Reid described the dolls as “incredible, strong, and fierce”, and they really do capture those feelings perfectly. These are actual Mattel Barbie Dolls, created for the new A Wrinkle in Time movie. I’m so very excited, and I would have given ANYTHING for Mrs’s Barbies as a young girl when I fell in love with this series as a child (yes there’s a whole series!).

Splitsville Luxury Lanes Announces Delay For Grand Opening In Disneyland’s Downtown Disney

Splitsville Grand Opening

Splitsville Luxury Lanes, the highly anticipated luxury bowling alley coming to Disneyland’s Downtown Disney District, has just announced that they will be postponing their opening day. Originally scheduled for Monday, January 29 in the old House of Blues location, it now appears that the Grand Opening ceremony has been delayed with no future official opening date announced at this time.

Splitsville Luxury Lanes gave the update that, “We are postponing the previously announced January 29 opening date. We have a few more tests and adjustments to make before we open our doors in the Downtown Disney District at the Disneyland Resort. But don’t worry, it won’t be long before you will be able to “Roll in and Rock out” at Splitsville Luxury Lanes!”
