Be Our Guest restaraunt will be closing for a short refurbishment

Be Our Guest restaurant will be closing for a short refurbishment in August. The restaurant will be closed August 20th – 24th, 2018 and is planned to reopen to Guests on August 25th, 2018. No information at this time on why they will be closing.

As we reported a few months ago, starting July 27th, Guests will be able to enjoy a new dinner feast at Be Our Guest. There will be a prix fixe dinner menu at Be Our Guest that will offer an exciting new range of French-inspired dishes. The new three-course dinner will include a choice of appetizer and entree followed by a personal dessert platter.

Appetizers on offer will include old favorites like the French Onion Soup with some new additions like Charred Octopus with citrus-laced fingerling potatoes, pickled hearts of palm with red pepper coulis, Escargot with herb garlic butter and toasted gremolata as well as a selection of meats and artisanal cheeses such as chicken liver pate, chorizo sausage Manchego and truffle tremor.

The main course will include an eclectic array of mouth-watering entrees such as Grilled Center-Cut Filet Mignon with potato au gratin, Romano beans, Cipollini marmalade and a cherry-laced red wine reduction or the Smoked Black-Eye Pea Tortellini with roasted seasonal vegetables, tomato relish and basil-scented tomato water.

Additional options include Poulet Rouge Chicken, Saffron-Infused Seafood Bouillabaisse, Roasted Lamb Chops and Kurobuta Pork Tenderloins.

Disney has confirmed that Dinner will go up to Two Table Service Dining Credits for those on the Disney Disney Plan and that the prices will increase to $55 per adult and $35 per child for dinner.

Restaurant Marrakesh is always serving up some savory cuisine and sprightly belly dancing to transport you to the heart of Morocco. The restaurant has added some unique Moroccan specialties to the menu, such as the Pan-Seared Lamb Loin Medallions and Hummus Rosemary Pancakes. This dish comes with zucchini, olives, and toasted garlic au jus.

There are also some new appetizers on the menu, like the Mussels Casablanca (steamed mussels served with capers, tomatoes, and saffron cream sauce) and the Goat Cheese with Crispy Bread. And for dessert, try the popular Warm Beignets & Sweet Cream. These sweet beignets are fried with spiced sugar, cinnamon, and cloves and topped with toasted almonds and dark chocolate or caramel sauce.

Restaurant Marrakesh is located in the Morocco Pavilion at the World Showcase, inside Epcot.

Original ‘Winnie the Pooh’ Map Breaks Auction Record

The original sketch of “Winnie the Pooh’s” Hundred Acre Wood made history recently, as the most expensive illustration to be sold at an auction. “Winnie the Pooh” has been described as ‘the most famous map in English literature’.

The map sold at a whopping $566,000 at Sotheby’s London. The drawing by E.H. Shepard has been unseen for half a century.

Initially, the drawing was offered with an estimated $200,000 in Sotheby’s sale of English Literature, History, Science, Children’s Books and Illustrations, but obviously, the sketch quickly exceed that offer.

The five original illustrations, including one depicting a game of Pooh Sticks and another with Christopher Robin, Pooh and Piglet on the famous bridge, were sold for a combined total of about $1.2 million. “This is the first drawing you encounter in the book and is the visual guide to the entire world of Winnie the Pooh. In this group of original drawings, you can see the real skill of the artist, the skill of the strokes of his pen”.- Sotheby’s said.

The one illustration showing Christopher Robin and Pooh walking hand-in-hand to say their final goodbye eventually sold for $264,000 after being estimated at about $120,000.

“They’ve never been brought out in the U.K. or the U.S. with illustrations by anyone else apart from E.H. Shepard and that is the power, and ability of the illustrator, and why this is probably the most famous map in English literature.” Sotheby’s said.

While Sleeping Beauty Castle is still the focal point of Disneyland, several new attractions have been opened and even a new park, Disney’s California Adventure. Also, after six decades of inspiration and innovation, the resort continues to grow while its heart has remained the same.
