New Adventureland Spirit Jerseys Have Arrived at WDW

Adventureland Spirit Jerseys

Not too long ago we talked about new Disney Attractions inspired Spirit Jerseys featuring popular rides from Adventureland, and Fantasyland heading to the Disney Parks soon. We’ve been anxiously awaiting their debut, and it looks like the Adventureland Spirit Jerseys are the first to arrive!

Yo ho yo ho, Pirates of the Caribbean fans will fall in love with this swashbuckling Spirit Jersey. Inspired by the iconic Pirates of the Caribbean ride, this jersey features black and red stripes around the bodice and sleeves. The front has the Pirates logo, and the back has “Walt Disney World” written in a piratey kind of style. This will also be available at Disneyland, with Disneyland written on the back in the same style.

The second Adventureland inspired jersey, is from the Enchanted Tiki Room! This jersey is a beautiful jungle leaf green, with a print featuring all of our favorite crooning bird friends from the iconic attraction. The print wraps around the bodice and sleeves of the shirt, and features Fritz on the front. The back says Walt Disney World written just like the ride’s logo. This jersey will also have a Disneyland counterpart, just like the Pirate’s one.

We found both of these fabulous Adventureland Spirit Jerseys available at Mickey’s Star Traders located in Tomorrowland at Magic Kingdom. Which one is your favorite?

Flame Tree Barbecue Adds Two New Menu Items – Review

Flame Tree Barbecue Adds Two New Menu Items

Flame Tree Barbecue Adds Two New Menu Items

Flame Tree Barbecue has added two new menu items at Animal Kingdom.  When spending the day at Disney’s Animal Kingdom,  Flame Tree Barbecue is a great place to grab a bite to eat.  While I was enjoying an afternoon at the park, I stopped in for a delicious lunch.

Smokehouse Chicken Salad – $10.99

Some salads around the parks can be pretty blah, but the Smokehouse Chicken Salad was great!  Mixed greens are piled high with pulled chicken, cornbread croutons, dried cranberries, diced granny smith apples, smoked cheddar, and crispy onion straws.  The barbecue ranch dressing was good, but I needed just a little more. I ended up just using a combination of their bbq sauces to dress the salad, and it was delish!  The combination of sweet and savory was excellent.  I loved the cornbread croutons with the dried cranberries and diced apples.

Salted Caramel Apple Crisp Cupcake – $5.99 or One Snack Credit (Disney Dining Plan)

Okay, okay this is my new favorite Disney cupcake!  Not too sweet, the flavors are out of this world.  The vanilla cake is full of apple pie filling, swirled with caramel buttercream and bits of streusel crumbs on top.  Finally, they add a salted-caramel drizzle with an apple chip.  I am living for the streusel crumbs with that caramel buttercream.

Disney is Reportedly Developing a New Port in the Bahamas

New Disney Cruise PortDisney Cruise Line fans may have much more to look forward to soon! The Nassau Guardian is reporting that Disney has just been given the go-ahead for a brand new cruise port at Lighthouse Point, South Eleuthera as it expands it’s ports of call in the Bahamas. Over the next three years, they will add 3 new cruise ships to the islands.

A member of the Bahamian Economic Council reportedly released a statement stating that “Negotiations will now begin on a Heads of Agreement, which will detail the scope of the project, the obligations of the Disney Cruise Lines Island Development Ltd. and the obligations of the government of The Bahamas. The negotiation of the Heads of Agreement will commence immediately. When concluded, it will be presented to Parliament in keeping with the government’s commitment to transparency and accountability.”

While a backlash is expected due to environmental concerns concerning the new port, Disney is reportedly giving 190 acres to the Bahamian Government for the creation of a national park.

Additionally, the proposal will create an estimated 150 local jobs and create additional tourism and entrepreneurial opportunities in the new port.
We can’t wait to see this story develop and see exactly what Disney has in store for the island!

Footgolf Family Fun at Disney’s Oak Trail Golf Course

Footgolf Family Fun at Disney's Oak Trail Golf Course

Footgolf Family Fun at Disney's Oak Trail Golf Course

Footgolf is fun for the whole family at Disney’s Oak Trail Golf Course.  I had the privilege of bringing my family for our first ever game of footgolf at Walt Disney World’s Oak Trail Golf Course. There is a reason why it is called “the happiest place on turf.”

Pricing

  • $17 plus tax per person- Walt Disney World Resort Guests, Annual Passholders, Disney Vacation Club Members, & Military
  • $22 plus tax per person – Other Guests

Schedule

  • Wednesday – After 3 pm
  • Saturday – After 3 pm
  • Sunday – After 3 pm

Disney’s Oak Trail course is located next to the Shades of Green military resort.  Be sure to have your ID with you, as you will need to show the guard at the entrance.  Upon entering, the golf course signs are clearly marked to direct you to the parking area. With a super easy check-in at the pro shop, we were off to grab our soccer balls at the equipment rental stand.  Each soccer ball is numbered, and your numbers are noted as you sign the paperwork.  Once the paper was signed, our golf cart “coach” pulled up and off we went to the Oak Trail course.

The Mickey shaped sand trap welcomes you to the Oak Trail course.  The cast member easily explained to us how the game works.  Footgolf is just kicking the soccer ball across the green into the hole, and each hole has a certain number of kicks aka par. It is nice they have a practice green because we needed to practice. I did not want any Lucy from Peanuts moments LOL! My toddler was anxious to get started, so off we kicked!

Nine of holes of laughter and smiles.  The course was well marked, moving around from hole to hole.  In the distance between kicks, you could hear the Magic Kingdom train, the Luau at the Polynesian resort, and the Ticket & Transportation boats. It was relaxing.  We have done our fair share of mini golf at Disney World, which is busy and boisterous.  Footgolf is the total opposite. My kids absolutely loved it. They wished the course was longer.  If both my toddler and tween like it, that is saying something! Not to mention my husband even got a birdie, so he thought he was “Mr. Pro.” Times like this you do not care about the score, you care about seeing your kids smile.  Footgolf was so much fun!

Overall Thoughts

Never having played golf let alone footgolf, my family had a total blast! It was a wonderful way to spend an early evening.  We even saw some deer and turkeys on the course.  I did, however, lose to my husband and son, so I will never live that down LOL! A rematch will be needed soon. To find out more about Disney Golf and to reserve your tee time, click here.   Have you enjoyed the golf courses while visiting Walt Disney World? Pumpkin-Filled Churros at Storybook Circus – Review

Pumpkin-filled Churros at Storybook Circus - Review

Pumpkin-filled Churros at Storybook Circus - Review

Come one and all to the Storybook Circus and enjoy the new pumpkin-filled churros! Fantasyland in Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom got a little sweeter with the latest addition of pumpkin-filled churros. The Storybook Circus pretzel cart has welcomed this new treat to the menu, so I just had try to it!

There is just something about a churro at Walt Disney World. It is oh so magical. The hot and freshly fried dough is dusted with cinnamon-sugar and then filled with delectable pumpkin filling. My churro was pumpkin spice and everything nice. At $6.25, it is an excellent use of one snack credit if you are on the Disney dining plan. Just be sure to get to the cart early, as they sell out fast!

Lion King Stars Working on New Live Action Film

Lion King Stars Working on New Live Action Film

While working on the new CGI/Live-Action version of The Lion King, director Jon Favreau posted a picture on Instagram of some of the cast.  Favreau appears alongside Donald Glover (adult Simba), Seth Rogen (Pumbaa), and Billy Eichner (Timon) in the photo.

The director gives no indication of what they were recording in the booth, but the characters do share some memorable scenes in the original, including the song “Hakuna Matata.”

Favreau seems to have found a niche, previously directing the live action/CGI version of Disney’s The Jungle Book.  He has also been working with Disney as in the Avengers franchise in several capacities, as executive producer of the Iron Man and Avengers films, director of Iron Man and Iron Man 2, and in front of the camera as Tony Stark’s driver Happy Hogan in the Iron Man and Spiderman movies.  Most recently it was announced that he is creating a live-action  Star Wars series, The Mandalorian, for Disney’s new streaming service.

The Lion King hits theaters in July 2019.

Flavors of fall abound in this delicious treat! This lovely little cupcake can be found at the Flame Tree Barbecue at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

Sink your teeth into the soft vanilla cake with apple pie filling. Beautifully topped with creamy caramel buttercream icing. A salted caramel drizzle balances the sweet perfectly. Streusel crumbs and a house-made apple chip adorn the top of this little piece of heaven in a cupcake.

In the season of all things pumpkin spice, the diversion into another beloved fall flavor is a welcome change. I know when I am at the Animal Kingdom in November I will make a plan to enjoy one. Or, maybe two!

The Flame Tree Barbeque is a great location for lunch as you enjoy the Animal Kindom.  Located on Discovery Island. Quick Service / Mobile orders available. Typical Barbeque fare- featuring smokehouse meats and chicken dinners. Sides of baked beans and coleslaw. Fresh salads available too!
