Road Construction To Impact Travel At Walt Disney World Resort

Guests visiting the Walt Disney World Resort through the end of May should pack extra caution when driving. Road construction will be taking place in a few different areas.

The southbound lanes of World Drive by the Magic Kingdom parking lot will be closed nightly from 1 AM to 6 AM from May 20th to May 23rd. Guests exiting Magic Kingdom will be directed around the Speedway gas station.

There will also be a permanent change in traffic patterns with the exit from the Speedway gas station to Buena Vista Drive and the Lime Garage closing on May 29th. The exit from the gas station will be through the rear parking lot. Also, drivers will no longer be able to turn left into the Speedway station from the westbound lanes of Buena Vista Drive.

Another construction area will be a temporary closure of Victory Way. On May 21st – 24th and May 29th, it will be closed from 9 PM to 6 AM. It will also be closed on May 30th from 11 PM to 6 AM.

Wine Bar George Pre-Opening Event Photo Review

Disney Springs is about to welcome another venue to The Landing Neighborhood. We were fortunate enough to attend a Wine Bar George Pre-Opening Event the evening of May 17th and experience what is in store for Guests. Here is our photo tour review of this amazing new wine-focused dining experience.

When we entered through the front doors, we immediately saw the main bar. The set-up is quite impressive with more wine bottles and wine glasses than we could count. There is table seating along the walls and bar stool seating around both sides of the bar.

Special Events at Wine Bar George in November

Speaking of wine, the options available at the Wine Bar George Pre-Opening Event were plentiful. The complete list is extensive with wines that are sure to please any taste palate. Be sure to peruse the list and ask questions as the Wine Bar George Team is very knowledgeable.

Not really a fan of wine? There are many other options available such as beer, cider and specialty cocktails like these New York Sours made with Russell’s Reserve 10 Yr. Bourbon.

Small bites from the menu were featured at the Wine Bar George Pre-Opening. From Lamb, Crispy Mac & Cheese Bites and House-Made Meatballs to Hummus, Chimichurri Skirt Steak and The Big Board we were impressed with the choices. The combination of flavors was simply magnificent. Our personal favorites were the Skirt Steak and the Crispy Mac & Cheese Bites.

The second floor hosts another bar and a variety of comfortable seating areas. We loved the outdoor porch as it provided a lovely view of the sunset over Lake Buena Vista.

Just looking to enjoy a bit of dessert with your wine? You are sure to love Wine Bar George’s flavorful version of Key Lime Pie or the soon-to-be-infamous Olive Oil Cake. Not being very fond of cakes, we were skeptical about the Olive Oil Cake. However, we have discovered a new favorite not-too-sweet treat. The Olive Oil Cake is served with Candied Olives and Lemon Mascarpone. This unique take on dessert cake is certain to leave your taste buds looking for more.

The Wine Bar George Pre-Opening Event provided us an opportunity to experience the ambiance of the space, along with samplings of the food and wines. We anticipate that this new venue is going to draw large crowds. Reservations are not currently available but keep your eye on your MDE app as Wine Bar George anticipates that they will soon have a reservation option. For now, seating will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Wine Bar George opens on May 19th at 5:00 pm and will be participating in Late Night at Disney Springs as well.

It’s time to relive the glory days! Pixar has released a fun batch of vintage toy commercials for Mr. Incredible, Elastigirl, and Frozone ahead of Incredibles 2 hitting the theaters on June 15. Each commercial shows kids playing with hero specific merchandise and even showcases theme songs for each Super. Take a look:

Orlando to Host 2022 Special Olympics

Today, Special Olympics Florida and Special Olympics North America announced that Orlando, Florida will be the host city of the 2022 Special Olympics as the Games celebrate their 50th anniversary.

The Special Olympics will run June 5 – June 10, 2022 with events taking place at the YMCA Aquatic Center, the U.S. Tennis Association campus in Lake Nona, Walt Disney World Resort, and Boardwalk Bowl.

The games will consist of 15 team and individual sports and include more than 4,000 athletes, 10,000 volunteers, 1,500 coaches, and 75,000 fans from all across the United States. And now, for the first time, the Special Olympics Caribbean program will be invited to participate in the Games.

Not only is the excitement building among athletes and fans, but there is potential for the Special Olympics 2022 Games to generate up to $61 million in economic impact for the Orlando area.

Modified Permits Filed for Tron Rollercoaster Coming to Magic Kingdom

It seem as though Disney has tweaked the plans for the Tron Lightcycle Power Run coaster coming to Magic Kingdom. Back in November, permits were pulled showing the area for the coaster would be directly adjacent to Space Mountain and behind the Tomorrowland Speedway, as you can see pictured below.

The modified permits filed yesterday called “Magic Kingdom East Side Modification” has been altered to show the area coming more into the Tomorrowland Speedway, pictured below.

The project is set to cover an impressive 3.4 acres of land.

The addition of TRON Lightcycle Power Run, modelled after Shanghai Disneyland’s wildly popular attraction, was first announced this summer at the D23 Expo. The TRON Lightcycle Power Run attraction is a coaster-style attraction where riders board a train of two-wheeled Lightcycles. It offers access to the energy, lights and excitement of TRON’s high-tech universe and is one of the most thrilling adventures at any Disney park.

Here’s a look at Shanghai Disneyland’s attraction:

Permits for this construction phase expire on December 22nd, 2022. The new attraction is expected to open in time for Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary in 2021.

The wait is over, Wine Bar George officially opens at Disney Springs at Walt Disney World this weekend. If there’s one aspect of this incredible new addition that already has us impressed its amazing offerings found at the walk-up window at the Wine Bar which is dubbed The Basket.

We were lucky enough to be given a sneak peek of the incredible items on offer for those looking to enjoy Wine Bar George on the go. One of our favorites has to be the gorgeous takeaway picnic baskets that are available for parties of 2 or 4.

For $80 for a party of two, guests get a picnic basket brimming with goodies including olives, hummus, cheese, chocolate chip cookies, a baguette, a carafe of wine and a couple of glasses. Our favorite thing about this treat is that you actually can take the basket home with you making it perfect for future picnics. There is 4 person version comes in slightly more expensive at $110.

For those heading to Disney Springs this weekend, above is a look at the walk-up window at Wine Bar George.

Here’s a look at the complete menu where guests can enjoy everything from Wines on Tap to sweet treats, sandwiches and boxes of lite bites!
