If you’re the type who lives by a minute-by-minute itinerary, these updates are for you! The expanded search functionality now allows you to view availability for ALL dining locations across a date range, rather than just one location. Use the tabs at the top to navigate through different dates within your search.

Disney has also refined the time range search. Instead of broad “breakfast,” “lunch,” or “dinner” categories, a new custom time slider lets you target exact dining times, allowing you to narrow your search down to the hour, ensuring your meals fit perfectly into your meticulously planned day.

Remember: Disneyland Resort guests can book dining reservations up to 60 days in advance. Walt Disney World Resort hotel guests enjoy a perk, booking 60 days in advance for their entire length of stay (up to a 10-night stay).

For the “Go-With-The-Flow” Group: Spontaneous Dining Made Easy

For those who prefer a more spontaneous approach, letting pixie dust guide their day, the apps now offer enhanced flexibility. When searching for same-day dining reservations at Walt Disney World, you can easily join a walk-up list or place a mobile order at select table service locations that offer these options.

Improved sorting and filtering mean you can quickly narrow down options by theme park and nearby resort areas, or filter specifically by Disney Springs at Walt Disney World or Downtown Disney District at Disneyland. The store previously known as Test Track SIMporium is rebranding and will reopen as Test Track Gear Shop on July 22nd.

After your exhilarating ride, the newly rebranded Test Track Gear Shop invites you to browse a wide array of merchandise, including toy cars, pit crew caps, and pins. The new signage for the gift shop was installed concurrently with the unveiling of the new Test Track Marquee. Walt Disney Imagineering shared, “A marquee moment indeed! Installation of the new marquee at Test Track presented by @generalmotors has begun! The design echoes the attraction’s architecture, while incorporating the new logo in illuminated letters that will look amazing both day and night.”

When EPCOT’s reimagined Test Track Gear Shop officially opens on July 22nd, guests will also get to experience the new, updated version of Test Track. Cast Member previews for the reimagined Test Track 3.0 have officially started at EPCOT. These exclusive previews, which allow Cast Members and their invited friends and family to experience the attraction first, run from Friday, June 27th, through Thursday, July 10th. The highly anticipated ride is set to officially open to the public on July 22nd.

With Cast Member previews running until July 10th, the earliest we’d expect Annual Passholder, Disney Vacation Club, Golden Oak, and Club 33 previews for Test Track 3.0 to begin is July 11th.

The adventure begins with the onboard audio introducing the “road to tomorrow,” highlighting advanced driving technology and customizable vehicle features.

Astro Orbiter Reopens at Magic Kingdom

Good news for Magic Kingdom visitors! The Astro Orbiter is once again welcoming guests. Its operational status is confirmed on the Walt Disney World website and the My Disney Experience app.

The Astro Orbiter in Tomorrowland is finally back in action after being closed for refurbishment since January 13, 2025. The ride underwent a thorough off-site maintenance, where it was completely dismantled and then reconstructed. Despite weeks of testing, Disney never officially announced when it would reopen.

Although the Walt Disney World website still shows a “closed” notice, both the Astro Orbiter’s specific webpage and the My Disney Experience app now list operating hours for today, June 27, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. As of 10:05 a.m., the standby wait time was 20 minutes.

No major changes appear to have been made to the ride’s theming or experience, though the elevator shaft, which was previously orange, has been repainted a silver-gray.

Scarlett Johansson is hard at work on her movie adaptation of Disney World’s iconic Twilight Zone Tower of Terror drop ride, and she’s providing an update on the film’s progress.

Years after the project was first announced, the Jurassic World Rebirth actress revealed to Entertainment Weekly that while she can’t spill all the secrets, she and Disney are diligently refining the story for the upcoming film. The movie is based on the popular haunted Hollywood Tower Hotel attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Orlando, Florida.

“It’s a hard nut to crack. Harder than you think, because the ride itself, there’s some lore to it, but it’s… I don’t want to say thin, but it is, kind of!” Johansson explained. The ride’s plot, set in Rod Serling’s iconic Twilight Zone anthology series, sees five souls vanish after their elevator is struck by lightning.

Johansson acknowledges that the ride’s narrative “doesn’t have so much to dig into” for a full-length feature film, suggesting that its brief, mysterious nature is part of what makes it work so well as a theme park attraction. “That’s part of the mystery of the ride. It’s been a fun project to work on, because it’s a blue sky project,” she shared. “It has also proved to be a hard nut to crack. But, we’ll crack the case of it. It’s taking shape!”

This project’s continuation was confirmed by Disney after the resolution of their legal dispute with Johansson concerning the 2021 release of Black Widow. At the time, Disney stated they “looked forward to working together on a number of upcoming projects, including Disney’s Tower of Terror.”

The Tower of Terror remains one of Disney World’s most popular attractions, a towering 199-foot icon that has inspired multiple iterations globally. While the Disneyland version was revamped in 2017 to become Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! for Avengers Campus, the Florida attraction continues to thrill guests in its original Twilight Zone form. This dedication to its classic theme even led pop star Ariana Grande to make an impassioned plea on the Las Culturistas podcast last November, urging Disney to preserve the Tower of Terror in its original, beloved state for “historical preservation, spooky honor, and good, old-fashioned fun.”

While Johansson’s upcoming film is poised to be a major release, it’s not the first cinematic take on the ride. In 1997, a made-for-TV movie also titled Tower of Terror, starring Steve Guttenberg and Kirsten Dunst, was partially filmed around the exterior of the Disney World attraction, though it omitted the Twilight Zone connection.

In 1998, Take Flight closed its doors to make way for Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin. Interestingly, through all these transformations, the ride track and vehicles remained the same as the original 1972 attraction. However, with the upcoming overhaul, these will finally be replaced.

While versions of the Buzz Lightyear shooting attraction have been a staple at all six Disney castle parks worldwide, some have already evolved.
