Disney Parks Unveils Major App Updates: Booking Dining Reservations is Easier Than Ever!

Dreaming of that perfect Disney meal? Good news! Disney is making it simpler than ever to snag those coveted dining reservations at both Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort. Recent updates to the Disneyland app and the My Disney Experience app (as well as on Disneyland.com and DisneyWorld.com) are designed to streamline your vacation planning, whether you’re a meticulous planner or a go-with-the-flow adventurer.

As Disney continues to listen to guests, they’ve made updates at Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World to make planning your vacation simpler. Now, it’s easier than ever to find dining reservations for whatever you’re craving on a whim or visit that bucket list location you’ve been dreaming about for your next Disney trip.

These enhancements build on existing guest-favorite features, ensuring a more seamless and intuitive experience for everyone. Here’s a breakdown of the exciting new functionalities:

For the “Bucket-List” Dining Spot: Find Your Dream Reservation

Have that one specific restaurant you absolutely must visit, like Cinderella’s Royal Table or Space 220? The apps now make it incredibly easy to see all dates with available reservation timeslots at any individual restaurant on a handy calendar. Simply select your desired dining location and party size, and a calendar view will pop up, indicating available dates with a green dot. This allows you to plan your entire vacation around that elusive reservation. For Character Dining experiences, look for the clear Mickey icon and label on available reservation times.

For the “Plan Every Detail in Advance” Family: Master Your Itinerary

If you’re the type who lives by a minute-by-minute itinerary, these updates are for you! The expanded search functionality now allows you to view availability for ALL dining locations across a date range, rather than just one location. Use the tabs at the top to navigate through different dates within your search.

Disney has also refined the time range search. Instead of broad “breakfast,” “lunch,” or “dinner” categories, a new custom time slider lets you target exact dining times, allowing you to narrow your search down to the hour, ensuring your meals fit perfectly into your meticulously planned day.

Remember: Disneyland Resort guests can book dining reservations up to 60 days in advance. Walt Disney World Resort hotel guests enjoy a perk, booking 60 days in advance for their entire length of stay (up to a 10-night stay).

Disney Character Dining

For the “Go-With-The-Flow” Group: Spontaneous Dining Made Easy

For those who prefer a more spontaneous approach, letting pixie dust guide their day, the apps now offer enhanced flexibility. When searching for same-day dining reservations at Walt Disney World, you can easily join a walk-up list or place a mobile order at select table service locations that offer these options.

Improved sorting and filtering mean you can quickly narrow down options by theme park and nearby resort areas, or filter specifically by Disney Springs at Walt Disney World or Downtown Disney District at Disneyland. For guests utilizing the Disney Dining Plan at Walt Disney World, there’s even a convenient filter to show locations that accept credits and how many you’ll need.

Cool new feature alert for Walt Disney World guests: Get a visual sneak peek of the restaurant’s ambiance and menu options with the new media gallery! Look for the ring around a location’s thumbnail photo to open the gallery.

Whether you’re celebrating the Disneyland Resort 70th Celebration or enjoying all the fun of Cool Kid Summer at Walt Disney World, these app updates make it easier than ever to tailor your dining experience to your family’s unique style. Stay in-the-know with Disney Eats for the latest culinary news, and be sure to download the Disneyland app or My Disney Experience app when you’re ready to plan your next magical meal!

“Monstruos 3: The Ghosts of Latin America” Creeps into Halloween Horror Nights 2025 at Universal Studios Hollywood

The fog is rising, the legends are stirring—and the spirits of Latin America are ready to haunt once more. Universal Studios Hollywood just summoned its first original haunted house for Halloween Horror Nights 2025, and it’s the third chilling chapter in a fan-favorite saga: Monstruos 3: The Ghosts of Latin America.

This terrifying trilogy returns with a vengeance, bringing three legendary spirits out of the shadows and into your nightmares. The official teaser says it best:

“One wails. One bites. One beguiles.”

Brace yourself for a face-to-face encounter with:

  • La Llorona – The weeping woman whose mournful cries echo through the dark
  • La Muelona – The monstrous man-eater with a jaw full of fangs and no mercy
  • La Siguanaba – A deceptive spirit who lures with beauty… then horrifies with her true face

All three are summoned by none other than La Muerte herself, beckoning guests into a cursed journey through folklore most terrifying.

A Haunting Legacy

The original Monstruos house debuted in 2023 with “The Monsters of Latin America,” including La Lechuza, Tlahuelpuchi, and El Silbón. Its 2024 sequel, Monstruos 2: The Nightmares of Latin America, introduced El Charro, El Cadejo, and El Cucuy. This year’s house continues the haunting lineage—and if past screams are any indicator, Monstruos 3 will be a must-scream experience.

The Monstruos series proved so popular, it eventually made the jump to Universal Studios Florida for Halloween Horror Nights 33. No word yet if this year’s installment will creep its way east, but horror fans across both coasts are keeping a watchful eye.

Scarlett Johansson Provides Tower of Terror Movie Update

Scarlett Johansson is hard at work on her movie adaptation of Disney World’s iconic Twilight Zone Tower of Terror drop ride, and she’s providing an update on the film’s progress.

Years after the project was first announced, the Jurassic World Rebirth actress revealed to Entertainment Weekly that while she can’t spill all the secrets, she and Disney are diligently refining the story for the upcoming film. The movie is based on the popular haunted Hollywood Tower Hotel attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Orlando, Florida.

“It’s a hard nut to crack. Harder than you think, because the ride itself, there’s some lore to it, but it’s… I don’t want to say thin, but it is, kind of!” Johansson explained. The ride’s plot, set in Rod Serling’s iconic Twilight Zone anthology series, sees five souls vanish after their elevator is struck by lightning.

Johansson acknowledges that the ride’s narrative “doesn’t have so much to dig into” for a full-length feature film, suggesting that its brief, mysterious nature is part of what makes it work so well as a theme park attraction. “That’s part of the mystery of the ride. It’s been a fun project to work on, because it’s a blue sky project,” she shared. “It has also proved to be a hard nut to crack. But, we’ll crack the case of it. It’s taking shape!”

tower

This project’s continuation was confirmed by Disney after the resolution of their legal dispute with Johansson concerning the 2021 release of Black Widow. At the time, Disney stated they “looked forward to working together on a number of upcoming projects, including Disney’s Tower of Terror.”

The Tower of Terror remains one of Disney World’s most popular attractions, a towering 199-foot icon that has inspired multiple iterations globally. While the Disneyland version was revamped in 2017 to become Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! for Avengers Campus, the Florida attraction continues to thrill guests in its original Twilight Zone form. This dedication to its classic theme even led pop star Ariana Grande to make an impassioned plea on the Las Culturistas podcast last November, urging Disney to preserve the Tower of Terror in its original, beloved state for “historical preservation, spooky honor, and good, old-fashioned fun.”

Tower-of-Terror-Movie-Cover-1

While Johansson’s upcoming film is poised to be a major release, it’s not the first cinematic take on the ride. In 1997, a made-for-TV movie also titled Tower of Terror, starring Steve Guttenberg and Kirsten Dunst, was partially filmed around the exterior of the Disney World attraction, though it omitted the Twilight Zone connection.

Fans eagerly await further details on Scarlett Johansson’s ambitious new vision for the Hollywood Tower Hotel, hoping it captures the chilling charm and mystery of the beloved ride.

Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin is set to close on August 4, 2025, for a significant overhaul. The attraction is expected to reopen in 2026 with exciting updates, including a new show scene and character, enhanced ride vehicles, and improved gameplay.

Disney initially announced this overhaul in March, revealing details about the new character: a robot named Buddy. Buddy will assist guests with target practice before they launch into space, adding a fresh element to the adventure.

att CKJNsVcmipYvLwDTVEv eIbsLUEcaDcGnKwPnQ

The updated ride vehicles will feature a fresh Star Command-inspired look and come equipped with video monitors displaying real-time scoring and “other exciting features.” Guests will also find new handheld blasters that boast always-on lasers for improved aim, along with lights, sounds, and haptic effects for a more immersive experience.

att C mpfhOMFQzlWDMcUcMWqKSLDnmYryivHc

These exciting updates follow closely on the heels of Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin receiving new projectors.

The attraction has a rich history, originally opening in Magic Kingdom in 1972 as If You Had Wings, sponsored by Eastern Air Lines. After Eastern Air Lines withdrew sponsorship in 1987, it transformed into If You Could Fly. Two years later, with Delta Air Lines as the new sponsor, it became Delta Dreamflight. Subsequent name changes saw it become Dreamflight and then Take Flight after Delta’s sponsorship ended. Throughout all these iterations, the attraction consistently explored the fascinating history of air travel.

In 1998, Take Flight closed its doors to make way for Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin. Interestingly, through all these transformations, the ride track and vehicles remained the same as the original 1972 attraction. However, with the upcoming overhaul, these will finally be replaced.

While versions of the Buzz Lightyear shooting attraction have been a staple at all six Disney castle parks worldwide, some have already evolved. Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters at Hong Kong Disneyland closed in 2017 to become Ant-Man and The Wasp: Nano Battle!, and the Tokyo Disneyland version also closed its doors in 2024. The upcoming updates to Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin are expected to be similar to what was implemented in Ant-Man and The Wasp: Nano Battle!

The attraction is slated to reopen later this year, though Disney has not yet announced a specific return date. While the planned work is described as standard maintenance with no major changes to the ride experience officially revealed, unofficial sources suggest we might see upgrades to the video display screens in the vehicles and new projection systems installed.

att QkXIZlJqVzzsWsgeGmIEEBgPPpEjyunWkWo

Spaceship Earth remains EPCOT’s iconic centerpiece, inviting guests on an illuminating journey through the history of human communication within its signature geodesic sphere. This upcoming downtime for refurbishment follows similar short-term closures in previous years, which were used to refresh the attraction’s lighting, ride systems, and show scenes.
