Cast from The Secret Life of Pets Films Reprise Their Roles in Universal Hollywood’s All-New Ride

Cast from The Secret Life of Pets Films Reprise Their Roles in Universal Hollywood’s All-New Ride

The voice talent behind the lovable furry stars of Illumination’s global blockbuster hits The Secret Life of Pets and The Secret Life of Pets 2 unleash their animal instincts to reprise their roles in Universal Studios Hollywood’s lively new ride, “The Secret Life of Pets: Off the Leash!,” opening in Spring 2020, which answer the question, “What are your pets really doing when you’re not at home?”

This marks the first time the ensemble cast perform the voices of their iconic characters for a theme park attraction. The film’s talent and their alter egos include Patton Oswalt as Max, Kevin Hart as Snowball, Eric Stonestreet as Duke, Jenny Slate as Gidget, Tiffany Haddish as Daisy, Lake Bell as Chloe, Dana Carvey as Pops, Steve Coogan as Ozone, Chris Renaud as Norman, Hannibal Buress as Buddy, Bobby Moynihan as Mel, Jessica DiCicco as Princess and Tara Strong as Pickles.

Adoption day is the ultimate rite of passage for every domesticated animal and the inspiration for this all-new immersive experience as guests assume the roles of stray puppies on the ultimate quest to find their forever homes.

The innovative ride will blend live, dimensional and animated characters with hyper-realistic media and projection mapping to fully immerse guests in a bustling New York City landscape.  Seated within ride vehicles that resemble cardboard boxes—reminiscent of where Katie first finds her beloved Max as a puppy—guests will travel along a track towards the Pet Adoption event and the ultimate happy ending: forever homes.

The state-of-the-art ride will employ a series of technological firsts that combine sophisticated facial recognition with enhanced gesture tracking, which helps to identify each guest as a unique stray puppy for the duration of the ride.  Every time guests experience “The Secret Life of Pets: Off the Leash!” they will likely see themselves characterized as a different stray puppy, creating a uniquely new experience with each ride.

“The Secret Life of Pets:  Off the Leash!” will be located on Pets Place, previously referred to as Baker Street, and adjacent to the popular “Despicable Me Minion Mayhem” and “Super Silly Fun Land” attractions. With the installation of all-new store front facades, Pets Place will capture the charm of a busy NY street, including an iconic NYC subway station.

With so much to see and do at Universal Studios Hollywood, an Annual Pass invites guests to experience the theme park’s thrill and adventure over and over again. Visit www.UniversalStudiosHollywood.com for more details and to save up to $60 on an Annual Pass when purchased online. Offer valid through March 2, 2020. Restrictions apply.

More information is available at www.UniversalStudiosHollywood.com. Like Universal Studios Hollywood on Facebook and follow @UniStudios on Instagram and Twitter.

In preparation for the ride’s opening, Universal Studios Hollywood is seeking energetic actors and puppeteers to impersonate the voice of Snowball. To learn more and book an audition by appointment only, please visit www.USHAuditions.com.

Disney’s Grand Floridian Citricos Restaurant is Getting a New Look

Citricos

Citricos

Walt Disney World is updating one of its iconic monorail resort restaurants. Starting in February, the Grand Floridian’s Citricos restaurant will be undergoing refurbishment.

Citricos serves Mediterranean-style cuisine and a wide selection of wine. It’s a signature dining experience at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort. Even though the refurbishment starts next month, it’s expected to take until summer 2020 to be completed. The refurbishment project will also take place over several phases throughout the year.

The Citricos bar is expected to close first in February. The dining room will continue to be open, but its menu will be modified since the bar area is closed. Then parts of the dining room will be closed for refurbishment starting in May. However, the Citricos name and Mediterranean theme should stay intact.

If you’re planning on visiting Disney World and dining at Citricos this year, then it’s best to keep this refurbishment in mind. The menu is subject to change during this period. Also, the availability for seating will change as parts of the dining room close for this project.

Are you looking forward to the changes being made at Citricos? Disney’s Grand Floridian restaurant should look quite different once it fully reopens later this year.

Terry Jones, Member of Monty Python, Dies at 77

Monty Python co-creator, Terry Jones has passed at age 77.  Jones is survived by his wife and three children.

In 2016, Jones’ family announced that Terry had been diagnosed with a form of dementia that had robbed the actor and writer of his speech.

Though the disease took his voice, it could not erase his amazing legacy as an actor, director, writer, and author. Of course, known for his work with Monty Python, Terry was also the writer of numerous books and shows that specialized in history. Disney fans will know of his work directing, writing and starring in the 1996 film, Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride. His screenplay writing also extended to the 1986 classic, Labyrinth, giving Muppet and Bowie fans a classic to treasure to this day.

Fans, friends and surviving Python members have expressed sadness and fond memories throughout the day.

On Twitter, Eric Idle wrote, “Thank you all for your kind thoughts and messages of support for our dearly beloved brother Terry. It is a cruel and sad thing. But let’s remember just what joy he brought to all of us”.

John Cleese also spoke in memory of his dear friend on Twitter, saying – “Just heard about Terry J. It feels strange that a man of so many talents and such endless enthusiasm, should have faded so gently away… Of his many achievements, for me, the greatest gift he gave us all was his direction of ‘Life of Brian’. Perfection. Two down, four to go”.

Terry Gilliam spoke out on Facebook saying, “HE WAS A VERY NAUGHTY BOY!!…and we miss you. Terry was someone totally consumed with life.. a brilliant, constantly questioning, iconoclastic, righteously argumentative and angry but outrageously funny and generous and kind human being… and very often a complete pain in the ass. One could never hope for a better friend. Goodbye, Tel.”

Terry’s writing partner, Python member, and good friend, Sir Michael Palin visited often after the diagnosis. Palin is quoted as saying that Jones was, “one of the funniest writer-performers of his generation”.

Luckily, fans are left with hours of entertainment created and provided by the comedy legend. He will be missed by all.

There will be 30 sailings along four enchanting European Rivers: Danube, Rhine, Rhone, and Seine. Select departures are reserved exclusively for families traveling without children, including Food and Wine and Oktoberfest-themed cruises, and festive holiday sailings wrap up the extended river cruise season.

New for 2021, guests aboard Rhine River voyages can travel to Papenburg, Germany, for an inside look at the construction of the fifth Disney Cruise Line ship, the Disney Wish.

Advance booking begins Jan. 27, 2020 for all previous Adventures by Disney Guests, or Jan. 28, 2020 for Disney Vacation Club Members, Golden Oak Club Members, and Disney Cruise Line Gold & Platinum Castaway Cay Club Members. General booking begins Jan. 29, 2020.

Family Vacations in the Heart of Europe
Sailing with AmaWaterways, a premier luxury river cruise line, these all-inclusive vacations are filled with active, immersive experiences curated by the family travel experts at Disney. New on the Rhine River itinerary is a unique excursion to Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany, where the newest Disney Cruise Line ships are being built. Guests who book this activity will go behind-the-magic at the building docks on a privately guided hard-hat tour led by a Disney Imagineer. This intimate, limited-capacity experience will be available at an additional charge on all 2021 departures.

Danube River sailings visit eight unforgettable destinations in Germany, Austria, Slovakia, and Hungary, where adventurers roam medieval ruins, scale treetop rope bridges and marvel at the rolling hills made famous in “The Sound of Music.”

Rhone River vacations through the south of France transport guests to sun-soaked Provence, a region celebrated for its colorful culture, charming villages, lush vineyards, and world-renowned cuisine. Interactive excursions include an art workshop inspired by Vincent Van Gogh, a private truffle-hunting experience and tasting, and kayaking beneath a 2,000-year-old Roman aqueduct.

Seine River cruises celebrate the magnificence of rural France with visits to picturesque provincial towns, the historic beaches of Normandy, Monet’s House and Gardens, the dramatic cliffs of Etretat, and Paris – the “City of Lights.”

The Budapest Escape can be added to Danube River sailings as the perfect land complement to the Central European tour by water.
