Oogie Boogie Bash Costume Tips and Dress Code

One of the perks of Oogie Boogie Bash is the opportunity for everyone to dress up in costume. You’re invited to get creative, devise a devious disguise or bring out your villainous side – just make sure to follow the costume guidelines.

Going out in full glam? A talented team of Disney stylists at Tenaya Stone Spa in Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa can complete your look with makeup and hair stylings inspired by classic Disney characters and princesses.

If themed shirts and sweaters are more your style, check out the Halloween merch, such as the Mickey Mouse Family Halloween Collection and The Haunted Mansion Collection.

Tip: Pack a sweater for when the breeze adds extra chills. Comfortable shoes are also highly recommended.

Treat Trails and Character Encounters

Kids and kids-at-heart can collect treats – including M&M’S, SKITTLES, SNICKERS and more – at 12 treat trails! But be warned, you’ll encounter villains and other legendary misfits along the way.

Cast members are available at every Treat Trail to offer alternative options for guests looking for allergy-friendly and no-sugar-added treats.

You can also meet Disney characters dressed in Halloween outfits and some friends making rare appearances at special greeting locations around the park.

“Frightfully Fun Parade”

Scheduled to perform 7:45 p.m. and 10 p.m. on party nights

The Headless Horseman of Sleepy Hollow, Jack Skellington from Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas, happy haunts from the Haunted Mansion and more take to the streets of California Adventure during the “Frightfully Fun Parade.” It’s a wicked gathering you can only witness during Oogie Boogie Bash.

Bookable for an additional fee, the Oogie Boogie Bash Dessert Party includes preferred seating for the “Frightfully Fun Parade,” delectable treats, beverages and a collectible enamel pin. As the parade processes through the park, dig into freeze-dried fruit with gummy worms, a blueberry ooze cake, mini cupcakes and more. Advanced reservations are highly recommended.

Villains Grove at Redwood Creek Challenge Trail

Villains Grove at the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail is a walkthrough of surreal scenescapes inspired by iconic Disney Villains. Mystical lights, sights and sounds immerse you in the auras of Dr. Facilier, Frollo, Scar and other best-loved baddies.

Shorter Ride Wait Times

It’s a great opportunity to experience popular ones like Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark!, Toy Story Midway Mania! (which currently has some special nods to the 70thCelebration) and Incredicoaster.

Before the party officially starts, delight in food and drink available during regular park hours. There will be so many seasonal options to try beginning Aug. 22, from a pumpkin pie churro to an achiote half-chicken.

Carnival of Carnage Returns to Universal Studios Hollywood for Halloween Horror Nights 2025

Step right up… if you dare. Universal Studios Hollywood has pulled back the curtain on its latest scare zone for Halloween Horror Nights 2025: Carnival of Carnage—a twisted midway where the only prize is pure terror.

Carnival of Carnage Scare Zone Announced for Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood

According to Universal’s description, guests will wander into a “seedy sideshow where murderous clownz make your horrified screams a part of the show.” Expect creepy circus tents, dark carnival energy, and clowns who are far more interested in chainsaws than balloon animals.

Carnival of Carnage has a long and gory history in Halloween Horror Nights lore. The name was first used for a Hollywood show in the ’90s and early 2000s, before becoming the subtitle of the 17th HHN at Universal Studios Florida in 2007—an event led by HHN icon Jack the Clown. Its return to the streets of Hollywood brings that legacy full circle.

This scare zone joins an already fearsome lineup alongside Murder of Crowz, Chainsaw Clownz, and Noche de Brujas. Haunted houses for HHN 2025 include Poltergeist, Fallout, WWE Presents: The Horrors of the Wyatt Sicks, Five Nights at Freddy’s, Terrifier, JASON UN1V3RSE, Scarecrow: Music by Slash, and Monstruos 3: The Ghosts of Latin America.

Halloween Horror Nights 2025 at Universal Studios Hollywood kicks off soon, and tickets are already on sale. With Carnival of Carnage now confirmed, it’s clear the midway will be the last place you’ll want to linger—unless, of course, you’re the main act.

New permits hint at updates coming to the entrance of Space Mountain at Magic Kingdom

Looks like Space Mountain in Magic Kingdom is getting a little TLC, or maybe a whole new welcome mat. A newly filed construction permit suggests that changes are on the horizon for the attraction’s entrance area, though Disney hasn’t officially announced any updates.

Related: Disney is Looking for Short Characters Performers for Walt Disney World

The permit, filed August 11, 2025, lists MLC Theming, Inc. as the contractor for “General Construction” at the address for the Space Mountain entrance and exit building—not the massive show building that houses the coaster itself. MLC Theming is no stranger to Disney projects, with a résumé that includes scenic painting, rock work, and themed facades. They’ve previously been linked to projects at The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure, The Haunted Mansion, and the Frontierland area.

While the filing doesn’t spell out exactly what’s being built, the work could range from a simple new sign to more elaborate theming upgrades. Given MLC’s specialty in immersive design, fans might dare to hope for something more visually striking to complement Tomorrowland’s retro-futuristic vibe.

Elephant Foot X-Rays: How Disney Vets Keep Giants on the Move

At Disney’s Animal Kingdom, the well-being of every animal is a top priority, and that includes ensuring the largest residents—the African elephants—are comfortable and healthy. A key part of their annual health check-up is a detailed radiograph, or X-ray, of their feet. This practice is crucial, as an adult elephant can weigh between 6,000 and 13,000 pounds, making healthy feet essential for their mobility and comfort.

A Partnership Built on Trust

What’s truly remarkable about this process is that the elephants voluntarily participate in their own care. This is a testament to the powerful bond and trust built between the elephants and their keepers. Through positive reinforcement and patience, keepers train the elephants to step into a radiograph station and position their feet so the veterinary team can capture detailed images.

“Watching Stella calmly lift a foot or lean in just the right way for an X-ray, it’s pretty amazing,” says Bridget, one of the elephant keepers. “It shows how much trust we’ve built over time, and how much they understand what we’re asking. We’re partners in their care.”

This bond allows the veterinary team to examine bone alignment, growth, and other vital details to create personalized care plans for each elephant.

Inside the Vet Hospital

While the elephant foot X-rays happen backstage at their habitat, the park’s on-site veterinary hospital is fully equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including X-ray, CT, and ultrasound equipment. Guests can even get a live look at some of these procedures for smaller animals by visiting Rafiki’s Planet Watch.

So, the next time you see an elephant gracefully moving across the savanna, remember that behind that serene image is a dedicated team of keepers and veterinarians, a deep bond of trust, and meticulous care to ensure every step is a healthy one.

Elephant Feet Facts

  • Tiptoes: Elephants actually walk on their tiptoes! They have a hidden cushion of fat in their feet that acts as a natural shock absorber.
  • Toenails: Each foot has five toes, but not all of them have visible toenails. Front feet typically have five, while back feet have four.
  • Built-in Radar: Their sensitive soles can detect vibrations from miles away, helping them sense distant thunder or the footsteps of other elephants.

Ultimately, the story of the elephants’ foot x-rays is about more than just a medical procedure. It’s a powerful demonstration of the incredible bond between caretakers and the animals they serve. Through a blend of dedicated science, meticulous trust, and unwavering compassion, the team at Disney’s Animal Kingdom ensures that every step their giants take is a healthy and comfortable one, reinforcing their commitment to the well-being of all the animals in their care.

Frank the Disneyland ‘Porch Potato’ Passes Away

Frank, the Disneyland “Porch Potato,” Has Passed Away

Frank, a beloved Disneyland guest, passed away earlier this month. Fondly nicknamed the “Porch Potato” by fellow park-goers, he was a familiar and friendly face to many.

IMG

Frank was lovingly nicknamed the “Porch Potato” because he spent so much of his time relaxing on the Palm Parlor porch on Main Street, U.S.A. in Disneyland. He was also known to many as the “Mayor of Main Street.”

His family announced his passing on the @porch__potato Instagram page, sharing that “He brought joy to us all with fist [bumps], high fives and enough stories for a million lifetimes.” They have asked fans and friends to share their memories of Frank using the hashtag #porchpotatofrank to celebrate his life and 80th birthday this month.

IMG

Disney Experiences chairman Josh D’Amaro paid tribute to Frank on his Instagram story, sharing a photo of the two of them with Frank wearing a “Mayor of Main Street” sash. D’Amaro wrote, “So sorry to hear about the passing of Frank, Disneyland’s Porch Potato. You will be missed.”

In a comment on the Porch Potato Instagram page, D’Amaro also said, “One of my favorite things about walking down Main Street was seeing Frank. I feel so lucky to have spent time on the porch with him on our 70th anniversary and so sorry to hear of his passing.”

In a touching tribute, guests at Disneyland Park have left flowers on the railing of the Palm Parlor porch in honor of Frank.

Disney Celebrates 170000th Wish on Its 70th Birthday

Every wish is special, but this one marked a significant milestone: Disney’s 170000th wish. This incredible achievement was celebrated on Disneyland’s 70th anniversary, a fitting way to honor the park’s history of making dreams come true.

att RKMIyMM hoUqzBmAJZbeDQWFSPDTpCDuunboo

While undergoing treatment for leukemia, 13-year-old Madison (Maddie) read The Imagineering Story and watched Behind the Attraction on Disney+. This inspired her wish: to meet the Imagineers who bring the parks to life, and one day become an Imagineer herself.

What Maddie didn’t know was that her wish would be the 170,000th Disney wish granted with Make-A-Wish… just in time for Disneyland’s 70th anniversary.

To share this momentous occasion, Make-A-Wish America President and CEO Leslie Motter and Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro met with Maddie at Walt Disney Imagineering headquarters and surprised her with the news and a plaque commemorating her milestone wish.

att YjyxXIueFCLtwNGmIJ QHkpxQnrIcAqSPnDws

After the momentous kick-off, Maddie and her family received a full tour and VIP treatment, including meeting with Imagineers who work on ride technology, Audio-Animatronics figures, Disney Live Entertainment, and many other disciplines.

She also got an exclusive viewing of historical sketches, artwork and archives at the Imagineering Resource Center before wrapping up the day meeting none other than Baby Groot!

att vxosFoeToYlZiIIKUSefFKvDFEZs lzRavhVc

One of Maddie’s favorite moments of the day was a Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance panel hosted by five Imagineers that worked on the attraction: Asa Kalama, John Larena, Greg Johnson, Ugo Okwumabua, and Chris Mais.

Madison learned about the creation of the attraction, the technology that brings the entire experience together and other behind-the-scenes tidbits. As an aspiring future mechanical or electrical engineer (not to mention a huge Star Wars fan), this experience, alongside her visit with Imagineers inside our Ride Studio, were true highlights of Day 1.

Day 2 began with a bang… or, rather, a rev of the engine! Maddie and her family were up bright and early to meet Imagineer Emily (Emo) O’Brien, who was the principal interior designer for Cars Land at Disney California Adventure Park for a walkthrough of Radiator Springs Racers, the attraction Maddie was most excited to experience at Disneyland Resort!

From there, Maddie headed to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, where Josh and Thomas Mazloum, Disneyland Resort President, brought along a few unexpected friends… Oskar and Red, two of the BDX Droids!

Madison later had the chance to ride Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance with two of the Imagineers she met at the panel the previous day, and Imagineer Nick Ross, former project manager for Milennium Falcon: Smugglers Run.

att QCfToEziwmImAfMevRjUJMcNsevsOoR Qos

Day 2 wrapped with Madison participating in The Celebrate Happy Cavalcade, where she was honored as Disney’s 170,000th wish kid! The final moment culminated in a tour of Walt’s apartment – leaving the family to enjoy an evening of 70thAnniversary parades and spectaculars.

Before beginning her wish trip, Maddie shared with us that she hoped to meet as many Imagineers as possible and ask them to sign her copy of The Imagineering Story by Leslie Iwerks, a book about the history of Imagineers that she read throughout treatment. Imagineers were definitely up for the challenge and came together to execute tenfold.

Throughout her two-day visit, Maddie not only had her book signed by each Imagineer she got to meet throughout her time at Imagineering and Disneyland, but Imagineers from both the Glendale and Anaheim campuses each compiled an additional autograph book full of well wishes, notes of inspiration, sketches, signatures and more.

To top it all off, Leslie Iwerks herself met with Maddie in Cars Land on the second day of her wish to say hello and sign the cover of Maddie’s copy of The Imagineering Story.

Disney is proud to be the world’s largest wish granter for Make-A-Wish, granting a wish every hour of every day. Since the very first official wish was granted at Disneyland Resort nearly 45 years ago, Disney has now helped fulfill 170,000 wishes globally with Make-A-Wish, delivering happiness when it’s needed most to wish kids and their families around the world. Disney is thrilled to continue making wishes like Madison’s come true.
