New Animal Kingdom Guidemap Officially Erases The Boneyard

It’s official, Dino-Diggers: The Boneyard has gone extinct at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. A brand-new guidemap for the park has been released, and the long-running play area in DinoLand U.S.A. has been completely removed from the park’s offerings.

The updated map, now available to guests, reflects the recent closure of The Boneyard. Where colorful slides and rope bridges once entertained budding paleontologists, the area is now simply covered with trees on the paper layout. The only remaining attractions in DinoLand U.S.A. are DINOSAUR and Restaurantosaurus, signaling just how close this land is to extinction.

The map’s cover features a new animal spotlight: the goats that were added to Kilimanjaro Safaris back in 2020. Inside, the “Alive with Magic” section highlights experiences across the park like Rafiki’s Planet Watch, animal trails, Wilderness Explorers, and live shows. Disney even slipped in a pointed reminder that this year is the last to experience DinoLand U.S.A. “before it goes extinct.”

On the back, the map sticks with the usual fare — park rules, payment options, and guest services information. But the real standout is what’s missing. The Boneyard has vanished not only from the illustrated pathways but also from the official attraction list. Guests unfolding the map will only see a leafy section where the playground once stood.

While The Boneyard’s closure is bittersweet for many families who loved its climbing nets and fossil dig pits, its removal is another sign that change is on the horizon. Disney has already hinted at what’s next for the land, with plans to transform DinoLand into something entirely new. For now, though, the guidemap makes it clear: the dig site has been retired, and DinoLand is counting down its final days.

New Walls Go Up as Disney Closes The Boneyard in Dinoland USA

New walls are now up throughout Dinoland USA at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. They are a result of the permanent closure of The Boneyard.

A long maze of construction walls now leads to the DINOSAUR attraction at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. This change follows the official closure of The Boneyard yesterday, September 1. The walls are part of the ongoing transformation that will eventually see Dinoland, U.S.A. become the new Tropical Americas land.

Following the closure of The Boneyard on September 1, construction walls were quickly installed overnight. The updated park map now reflects this change, and the Wilderness Explorer kiosk is also now located behind the walls.

The green construction walls feature yellow butterflies and funny sayings, as well as clear directions to the DINOSAUR attraction and the Asia section of the park.

Think about it: before every shelf was stocked with a thousand different Mickey toys, Walt and Roy Disney had a really high bar for what their characters could look like. That’s where a woman named Charlotte Clark came in. Starting in the 1930s, her handmade Mickey dolls were the gold standard for quality and character likeness. Walt and Roy loved them, but Charlotte and her small team could only sew so many by hand. To meet the demand for authentic Disney dolls, the brothers got creative. In 1932, they partnered with a New York company to create sewing patterns based on Charlotte’s designs, so fans could make their own.

And now, you can get the best of both worlds! This collectible set, retailing for $79.99, brings that early, classic design right to your home. It’s a fantastic way to own a piece of that legacy, a tangible connection to the early days of Disney merchandise and the incredible attention to detail that started it all. If you’re a serious collector or just love the timeless look of vintage Disney, this is one set you won’t want to miss. Head over to the Disney Store online to grab yours before they’re gone!

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Harambe Market to Change Menu to Hamburgers and Chicken Nuggets

Walt Disney World has confirmed a series of significant changes for Disney’s Animal Kingdom as the park prepares for its upcoming Tropical Americas expansion. These updates include the permanent closure of DinoLand U.S.A., a strategic menu shift for Harambe Market, and an altered refurbishment schedule for Kali River Rapids.

Harambe Market to Change Menu Following DinoLand U S A Closure

The final day for much of DinoLand U.S.A. will be February 1, 2026, with the area closing permanently on February 2. This closure will include the popular DINOSAUR attraction, along with Restaurantosaurus and The Dino Institute Shop. The Boneyard play area was the first to permanently close in September, and construction walls are now up, marking the beginning of the land’s transformation.

In response to the closure of Restaurantosaurus, Harambe Market will be changing its menu to accommodate guests. The dining location will close for a refurbishment sometime this winter to prepare for a new menu that will include popular American fare like hamburgers and chicken nuggets, with these new options becoming available in early 2026.

The closure will also impact the operating schedule of Kali River Rapids. The popular water ride will alter its annual winter refurbishment schedule and will now be closed from October 6, 2025, until sometime before the permanent closure of DinoLand U.S.A. This strategic shift is designed to ensure guests still have access to a major thrill ride during a key phase of the park’s transition.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Changes Annual Refurbishment Plan for Popular Water Ride

Kali River Rapids is set to adjust its usual winter refurbishment schedule in response to the impending closure of DinoLand U.S.A. The popular water attraction will be closed to guests from October 6, 2025, until sometime before the permanent closure of DinoLand U.S.A. in early 2026.

Kali River Rapids Refurbishment Schedule Altered Due to DinoLand U S A Closure

This change in schedule is directly related to the new Tropical Americas expansion that is set to replace DinoLand U.S.A. The new land is expected to feature experiences themed to the film Encanto and a new Indiana Jones attraction. By shifting the Kali River Rapids refurbishment to the fall, Disney can ensure guests have at least one of the park’s major thrill rides available during a key phase of the construction, strategically managing guest flow and attraction availability during the transition.

Kali River Rapids Refurbishment Schedule Altered Due to DinoLand U.S.A. Closure

The change marks a shift from the ride’s traditional refurbishment timeline, which has historically taken place after the busy holiday season, from January through March. This new schedule accommodates the closure of DinoLand U.S.A., including the DINOSAUR attraction, which will officially have its final day of operation on February 1, 2026.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Announces Final Day of Operation for DINOSAUR, Restaurantosaurus, and More

Disney has confirmed the permanent closure date for what remains of DinoLand U.S.A. to make way for the upcoming Tropical Americas expansion at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The land’s final day of operation will be February 1, 2026, with a complete closure set for February 2. This will include the popular DINOSAUR attraction, Restaurantosaurus, and The Dino Institute Shop.
