ZIPAIR Bringing Back Nonstop Orlando to Tokyo Flights This August

The runway between Orlando and Tokyo is lighting up once again. Following the success of its inaugural flights earlier this year, ZIPAIR will return to Orlando International Airport with three additional nonstop open passenger charter flights between Orlando International Airport and Tokyo Narita International Airport this August.

The newly announced flights are scheduled for August 8, 13, and 18, continuing what has quickly become one of the most talked-about international air service additions at Orlando International Airport. The original February and March flights marked the first nonstop open passenger charter service ever operated between Florida and the Asia Pacific region, making the route a pretty historic passport stamp for Central Florida travelers.

According to the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority, the response to the first flights exceeded expectations and helped demonstrate strong demand for direct travel between Orlando and Tokyo. GOAA officials say the added flights are another step toward potentially establishing regularly scheduled service between the two destinations after more than 30 years of efforts to make it happen.

ZIPAIR operates out of Terminal C at Orlando International Airport, which has become the airport’s growing hub for modern international carriers and long-haul routes. Travelers interested in booking the August flights will need to keep their eyes peeled in mid-June, when tickets are expected to go on sale.

The announcement also comes as Orlando International Airport continues seeing major international growth. GOAA says MCO welcomed approximately 1.4 million more international visitors in 2025 compared to 2023, further cementing Orlando’s role as one of the world’s busiest tourism gateways.

In addition to the ZIPAIR news, GOAA’s Board also approved a $2.5 million roadway improvement grant during its monthly meeting. The funding, provided through the Florida Department of Transportation and Federal Highway Administration, will support traffic and roadway efficiency upgrades along Jeff Fuqua Boulevard and Station Loop Road near the airport.

The iconic “Chewie Mode”—which replaced the ship’s regular dialogue with the roaring wails of our favorite Wookiee—has officially been retired.

But don’t worry! In its place, Imagineers have hidden a brand-new Easter egg: Grogu Mode. If you want your next flight to be filled with the adorable coos, squeaks, and giggles of Baby Yoda, here is your step-by-step guide to unlocking it.

Unlike Chewie Mode, which famously required all six passengers in the cockpit to pull off a complex sequence of buttons simultaneously, Grogu Mode is much easier to unlock. In fact, the entire responsibility rests solely on the shoulders of the two Gunners!

If you and your co-gunner want to trigger Grogu Mode, follow these exact steps before your flight begins:

Take Your Seat and Buckle Up: Sit down and fasten your seatbelt immediately. Cast Members emphasize that buckling up right away helps speed up the loading process and will not affect your ability to unlock the secret mode.
Do NOT Activate Your Position Normally: Do not press the glowing orange button on your panel right away when you sit down. You have some pre-flight work to do first!
The Gunner Secret Button Press: Both the Left and Right Gunners must locate the lower-most white button on their respective panels (the button closest to your seat). Both Gunners must press and HOLD this white button down. Note: Grogu Mode will not work if only one Gunner does this!
Activate the Cockpit: While continuing to hold down that bottom white button, use your other hand to press the large, circular yellow/orange activation button to lock in your position.

Once activated, the vast majority of the mission’s regular character dialogue is overridden and replaced by the delightful sounds, babbles, and coos of Grogu. Essentially, it feels like the little green guy has taken the wheel (though you’re still doing the actual steering!).

Don’t worry if you miss out on unlocking it or find yourself assigned as a Pilot or Engineer; thanks to the new permanent update, Grogu and Mando are heavily featured in every single flight regardless of whether the secret mode is turned on. However, activating Grogu Mode dials the cuteness up to eleven with an overload of extra Grogu audio.

Beyond the secret mode, the base ride has received its biggest gameplay shakeup since opening in 2019. Hondo Ohnaka now recruits your crew to intercept a deal going down on Tatooine between pirates and ex-Imperial officers.

A major industrial hazmat emergency is currently unfolding in Southern California just a few miles away from the Disneyland Resort, forcing tens of thousands of Orange County residents to evacuate their homes and businesses.

The incident initially began on Thursday, May 21st, at the GKN Aerospace facility located on Western Avenue in Garden Grove. Emergency crews responded to reports of an overheated 34,000-gallon storage tank containing methyl methacrylate—a highly flammable chemical commonly used to manufacture plastics, resins, and various aerospace components. While the tank is not at full capacity, authorities estimate that roughly 6,000 to 7,000 gallons of the volatile chemical remain trapped inside.

Despite around-the-clock efforts by fire crews to cool the exterior of the structure, malfunctioning valves and compromised systems have caused internal pressure and temperatures to rise to critical levels.

Orange County Fire Authority Division Chief Craig Covey gave a stark update during a news conference, explaining that the manufacturer’s technical representatives believe a catastrophic failure is inevitable. Officials are currently preparing for two possible outcomes: either the tank cracks and the chemical leaks safely onto the ground where hazmat teams can neutralize the vapors, or the built-up pressure causes the tank to rupture violently.

While initial, smaller evacuation orders were briefly lifted when conditions seemed to stabilize on Thursday, the situation rapidly deteriorated on Friday, May 22nd. This prompted officials to reissue and significantly expand the evacuation zone. The current orders now impact approximately 40,000 residents across several neighboring communities, including Garden Grove, Anaheim, Buena Park, Cypress, Stanton, and Westminster.

At its closest point, the established evacuation boundary sits roughly four miles away from the Disneyland Resort. Because the resort is outside of the active danger zone, Disneyland Park, Disney California Adventure, and the Downtown Disney District are not under evacuation orders and currently remain open. Disney has not issued an official statement regarding the situation, and it remains to be seen if shifting conditions will have any impact on weekend park operations.

Local health officials have warned the public that breathing in methyl methacrylate vapors can cause severe irritation to the eyes, skin, nose, and respiratory tract. Three official emergency shelters have been established for displaced residents at Savannah High School in Anaheim, the Garden Grove Sports & Recreation Center, and the Cypress Community Center.

California Governor Gavin Newsom has officially declared a state of emergency for Orange County to help clear the way for immediate state resources and funding. The declaration will allow state emergency management officials and hazmat specialists to work directly alongside local crews as they scramble to handle the volatile facility and secure the surrounding neighborhoods.

Remembering Fallen Heroes

Although Disneyland was honored to celebrate and welcome our nation’s greatest heroes over Memorial Day weekend, it is equally important to pause, reflect, and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

One of the most meaningful ways Disney recognizes the fallen is through Missing Hero Tables. This powerful exhibit represents the service members who never returned home: the fallen, the missing, and those held as prisoners of war. Because of their sacrifice, we are able to enjoy the freedoms we cherish today.

At Disneyland Park, one of the many Missing Hero Tables on display throughout the resort during Memorial Day weekend was displayed at Tiana’s Palace. This table was reserved to honor the brave and selfless military members who gave their lives in service or remain missing in action or still waiting to find their way back home.

Toy Story 5 Banners and More Added to Disney Springs Ahead of Release

Toy Story 5 Takes Over AMC at Disney Springs Ahead of June Release

The toys are back in town at Disney Springs, and this time they have completely taken over the AMC Dine-In Theatres. New Toy Story 5 banners, signs, and themed displays have appeared all around the AMC location ahead of the film’s June 19 theatrical release.

Massive vertical banners featuring Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Jessie, and the franchise’s mysterious new frog-shaped tablet character now hang high on both sides of the theater entrance, while additional signage has been installed across the building exterior.

One of the biggest additions is a large Toy Story 5 themed photo op located right outside the AMC theater. The display features Woody, Jessie, Buzz, Forky, Rex, Hamm, Bullseye, and more surrounding the green tablet character with the message “Hi! Let’s play!” Guests can also pose beside a smaller matching sign nearby featuring additional character artwork and the movie’s release date.

The AMC entrance itself has also received a huge hanging banner showcasing the full toy lineup, making the theater impossible to miss while walking through Disney Springs at night.

Disney and Pixar are still keeping much of the movie’s plot under wraps, but the promotional art continues teasing a technology-focused story involving the new device character. Judging by Woody and Jessie’s nervous expressions, the gang may be heading into another playtime crisis.

With the movie premiering June 19, the new displays are already becoming a popular photo stop for Pixar fans visiting Disney Springs.
