Port Canaveral Parking Just Got More Expensive for Cruise Passengers
Effective October 1, 2025, Port Canaveral officially raised the daily rate for cruise parking at its terminals. This marks the first price hike for cruise parking at Port Canaveral since 2017, and the generated revenue is intended to fund necessary infrastructure upgrades due to booming passenger traffic.
Port Canaveral is a premier port for major cruise lines, and is an especially popular departure point for Disney Cruise Line.
Currently, Disney Cruise Line sailings from Port Canaveral offer a variety of itineraries, including Bahamian cruises on the Disney Wish, Disney Fantasy, and Disney Magic. These cruises frequently feature stops at Disney’s private island destinations like Castaway Cay or the newest destination, Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point.
For a truly magical experience, guests can book special themed voyages, such as Halloween on the High Seas or Very Merrytime cruises. Additionally, a special Disney Visa Cardmember offer may be available for select fall 2025 sailings.
The increase was first proposed during a commissioner’s meeting on August 20, 2025, and officially went into effect at the start of October 2025.
The previous daily cruise parking rate was $17 per vehicle. With the new changes, the rate has been raised to $20 per day (plus tax). This rate applies to both vehicles and RVs and includes the days of both embarkation and debarkation. For context, a typical 3-night cruise will now incur a parking fee of $80 plus tax (for four total days of parking).
Port officials, as reported by WFTV 9, cited record passenger volume as the direct reason for the price hike. The port has already processed 8.4 million passengers this year and expects that number to climb to 9 million next year, necessitating the increase to fund necessary infrastructure improvements and handle the booming traffic.

Motorcyclist Dies in Early Morning Crash Near Walt Disney World Resort
EPCOT Center Drive at the Walt Disney World Resort is currently closed following a fatal five-vehicle crash that occurred early Monday morning. The incident, which happened just off Interstate 4 around 6:30 A.M., has prompted an investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash involved five vehicles, including a motorcyclist who was transported to a local hospital but was later pronounced dead.
EPCOT Center Drive, which extends from World Center Drive near the EPCOT parking lot and toll plaza, remains closed while troopers investigate the crash site. Drivers are advised to use alternate routes, such as E Buena Vista Drive or Osceola Parkway, as detours.
Exclusive Mickey and Minnie Meet and Greet Announced for Disney Vacation Club Members in 2026
Disney Vacation Club is rolling out even more magic for members in 2026. Disney has confirmed that the Membership Magic Beyond program will return next year, bringing back special perks and one particularly charming offering, an exclusive meet and greet featuring Mickey and Minnie in brand-new travel-themed outfits.
The 2026 edition of Membership Magic Beyond will once again offer Disney Vacation Club Members additional benefits on top of their existing membership perks. While full pricing and package details have not yet been released, one highlight already revealed is the return of the DVC-exclusive character experience at the ImaginAtrium Member Lounge in EPCOT’s Imagination! Pavilion.
This year, guests visiting the lounge can meet Nick Wilde and Judy Hopps from Zootopia, but in 2026, they’ll be replaced by Mickey and Minnie Mouse, dressed to impress in outfits inspired by exploration and travel. Minnie’s blue dress is patterned with a map design featuring continents and dotted flight paths, complete with a matching sequined shawl and bow. Mickey will sport a matching map-patterned waistcoat with a sparkling lapel and sapphire blue trousers. Together, they’re ready for adventure, and perfect for photo ops that celebrate the DVC spirit of travel and discovery.
The Membership Magic Beyond add-on was first introduced in 2024 and was available through 2025 for a $99 fee. It gave members special ticket options, Memory Maker perks, and priority lounge access. Only eligible DVC members with at least 150 direct-purchase Vacation Points are eligible to enroll, and the package does not renew automatically; therefore, even 2025 participants will need to re-enroll to enjoy the 2026 version.
Mr. Potato Head Returns to Disney Springs — But Buzz Lightyear Is Missing
Mr. Potato Head is back at Disney Springs, but it looks like he’s flying solo this time. The beloved statue has been restored to his classic spot outside Once Upon a Toy, freshly cleaned and gleaming atop his giant Play-Doh can. However, his usual companion, Buzz Lightyear, has been removed from the opposite side of the entrance.
In Buzz’s place, guests will now find a set of decorative flower pots, adding a bit of greenery where the Space Ranger once stood. While there’s no official word yet on whether Buzz is being refurbished or permanently retired, many fans are hopeful that he’ll make a triumphant return soon to rejoin Mr. Potato Head in welcoming shoppers.
The Mr. Potato Head figure, which was removed in July for maintenance, looks better than ever after a likely repaint and cleaning. A few small details remain unfinished — including a missing bolt on the back of his Play-Doh base — but overall, he’s back to being a top-tier photo op for visitors strolling through the Marketplace.
With other recent touch-ups around Disney Springs, including refreshed Aurora and Cinderella statues near World of Disney, it’s clear Disney is keeping its icons camera-ready. For now, guests can once again snap a photo with the world’s most famous spud — even if his spacefaring pal is taking a little break from duty.
Even though Epic Universe just opened earlier this year, Universal is already looking to the future — and thanks to stunning new aerial photos by @bioreconstruct on X, we now have a clear view of the park’s two massive expansion pads that hint at what could be next for this already groundbreaking destination.
In the first image, we can see the large cleared area just beyond the dome-topped buildings and lush gardens of Celestial Park, the heart of Epic Universe. This site sits behind the park’s hub and across from the lagoon area, perfectly positioned for a potential future addition to the central park district. While it’s currently bare, the location offers plenty of room for expansion.
The second aerial shows the larger of the two pads, located between Super Nintendo World and Dark Universe. This stretch of land is already serviced by backstage roads and utilities, making it prime real estate for a future “world.” Fans have been quick to point out that the massive Chronos Tower entrance gate at the front of Epic Universe includes two empty circles among its land medallions. These blank spots line up symbolically (and geographically) with the two expansion areas seen in @bioreconstruct’s photos.
So what could fill these spaces someday? Rumors have swirled about a Legend of Zelda-themed expansion to Super Nintendo World, which would make perfect sense given its proximity. Others have suggested that the opposite pad could be home to a “Wicked”-themed land, especially with Universal Pictures’ major two-part film adaptation arriving in theaters in 2025 and 2026.

A new report from Bloomberg suggests the internal search for Bob Iger’s successor as Disney CEO is rapidly narrowing.
Earlier this year, the competition was believed to be among four high-level executives: Josh D’Amaro (Chairman of Disney Experiences), Dana Walden (Co-Chairman of Disney Entertainment), Alan Bergman (Co-Chairman of Disney Entertainment), and Jimmy Pitaro (Chairman of ESPN and Sports Content). D’Amaro had already been reported to be in the “pole position” among this group.
However, the field has since become smaller. Pitaro has reportedly indicated he is no longer interested in the role, and in its latest update, Bloomberg describes the contest as a “two-horse race” primarily between D’Amaro and Walden, with Bergman now viewed as a “long shot.”
Despite the official succession process being ongoing, Bloomberg reports that Josh D’Amaro remains the most likely outcome. The article highlights a moment where CEO Bob Iger reportedly “bristled” after a dining partner suggested D’Amaro “will do a great job when he’s appointed CEO.” This incident underscores a key finding: a “growing consensus” among many Disney executives, former executives, and industry leaders who now believe D’Amaro “will succeed Iger” when the new CEO is named early next year.
Josh D’Amaro remains a leading candidate for the CEO role largely because his division, Disney Experiences, is the company’s biggest moneymaker. Through the first nine months of fiscal 2025, the division’s profit reached $8.12 billion, which is one-third more than Disney’s combined earnings from TV, film, streaming, and sports operations. D’Amaro’s purview is also driving future growth, as it includes the upcoming Disney theme park in Abu Dhabi and the company’s significant $1.5 billion investment in Epic Games (creators of Fortnite).
Josh D’Amaro is also favored for his deep “understanding of Disney’s culture,” having been with the company for decades—a contrast to Dana Walden, who joined in 2019 following the Fox acquisition. Internally, D’Amaro is gaining momentum: attendees described his vision for the company’s future, presented alongside the other three divisional leaders, as “especially inspiring.”
The search for Iger’s replacement is being led by Morgan Stanley Chairman James P. Gorman, who was later elected Chairman of Disney’s Board. Disney plans to officially announce the successor in early 2026, allowing for a smooth, year-long transition period before Bob Iger’s contract concludes in December of that year.
