New aerial photos from Bioreconstruct reveal significant progress on the attraction, including the steel framework of what appears to be the coaster’s service building rising quickly in the construction site.

The steel structure is now clearly visible from above, showing multiple levels of framing that will eventually support the building’s walls and roof. Workers can be seen installing rows of metal roof decking across the top of the structure, gradually closing in the upper level of the building. Construction equipment and material staging areas surround the site as crews continue assembling the framework piece by piece.

The building is positioned near the back of the coaster site, tucked between existing soundstages. Based on its location and size, the structure is likely tied to ride operations, potentially serving as the service facility for the new coaster. A large construction crane towers above the site, helping crews lift steel beams and roofing materials into place.

Wider aerial shots show the massive scale of the overall construction zone, stretching across what was previously backstage space behind the park’s New York area. Large sections of cleared land, foundation work, and construction equipment mark the footprint of the future coaster.

The track layout for Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift is expected to run from the back of the park toward the waterway near Universal CityWalk, weaving through the area as part of a high-speed outdoor coaster experience. Once complete, the attraction will bring Universal’s street racing franchise to life with a launch-style coaster designed to simulate high-speed drifting, bringing the Fast & Furious franchise to life in a whole new way.

While Universal has not yet announced an official opening date, the rapid progress on structural elements suggests the project is moving full throttle as construction continues across the site.

Construction continues to reshape Animation Courtyard at Disney’s Hollywood Studios as Disney works toward transforming the area into The Walt Disney Studios, a reimagined space inspired by the real Walt Disney Studios lot in Burbank, California. In the center of Animation Courtyard, crews have paved a triangular section of sidewalks that outline a new green space. Trees were planted in this area earlier, and the fresh pavement now defines the pathways that will guide guests through the updated courtyard. Around the Disney Jr. soundstage, the new pavement also outlines future flowerbeds, with several square cutouts indicating additional trees may be planted soon. Temporary wooden structures are currently set up near the front of the courtyard and may eventually be covered with tarps to provide shade for construction crews working in the area.

Construction work is still ongoing toward the front of the courtyard, where crews appear to be preparing additional sections for paving. One square area already contains rebar ready for a concrete pour, while another nearby space has been outlined but has not yet received its structural base. These small sections suggest that paving will continue gradually as Disney refines the courtyard’s new layout and landscaping elements.

At the back of the courtyard, one of the biggest changes is happening at the former Star Wars: Launch Bay building, which will soon become the new Magic of Disney Animation experience. Inspired by the Roy E. Disney Animation Building at the real Walt Disney Studios, the attraction will feature a giant Sorcerer Mickey hat mounted between the two front columns. To make room for this iconic feature, crews have begun removing the overhang marquee from the building’s entrance. A closer look shows the raw edge where the structure once extended outward, and the building is expected to receive a full repaint to move away from the Star Wars aesthetic that previously defined the space.

Elsewhere on the structure, the theater exterior has already been painted a bright yellow color, while crew members continue painting railings along the roofline. These cosmetic updates hint at the brighter, more animation-inspired look Disney is aiming for as the courtyard shifts toward celebrating the art and history of Disney animation.

When complete, the new Magic of Disney Animation will feature character meet-and-greets, a drawing class, and an Alice in Wonderland-themed playground. The redesign is partially inspired by the Emmy Award-winning short film Once Upon a Studio, which celebrated the legacy of Disney animation.

The future coaster building is currently rising in what was previously a Cast Member parking lot near the park. Because of this location, the large construction site sits surrounded by parked cars, with a towering crane and sprawling multi-layered concrete pad forming the early footprint of the attraction. Recent photos show several sections of the foundation progressing simultaneously, with some areas covered in sand, others preparing for additional concrete pours, and multiple sections filled with intricate rebar grids.

Within those rebar sections, workers have also begun threading conduits through the framework. These conduits will eventually house electrical and mechanical systems needed to power the attraction once construction moves further along. Nearby, crews appear to be preparing additional concrete layers around structural support bolts that will anchor key elements of the show building and ride system.

Some of the rebar sections include unusual recessed areas with angled sides, though their exact purpose remains unclear at this stage of construction. Other completed slabs are currently being used as staging zones for building materials, while additional sunken sections hint that more foundational work is still to come as Disney continues assembling the backbone of the attraction.

The upcoming Monsters, Inc. coaster is inspired by the iconic door vault sequence from the original film and will be Disney’s first suspended coaster and vertical lift coaster. The attraction will anchor the back of the new Monstropolis land currently replacing the former Muppets Courtyard area at Hollywood Studios.

Site Preparation Underway in Hollywood Studios for Monsters Inc Coaster

Disney first revealed the attraction model and track layout during the 2024 D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, giving fans an early glimpse at how guests will race through the massive door vault alongside Mike and Sulley in a high-speed adventure through the monster world.

With foundations steadily expanding and infrastructure being installed, the early stages of construction are well underway. While the doors may not be flying across the vault just yet, the groundwork is clearly being laid for one of the most ambitious attractions coming to Walt Disney World in the next few years.

The transformation of the former Muppets Courtyard at Walt Disney World is continuing as Disney steadily reshapes the area into the future home of Monstropolis at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. New aerial photos from @bioreconstruct reveal ongoing demolition, structural work, and preparation happening across the land as the next chapter of Pixar storytelling begins to take shape.

One of the most noticeable changes comes from the former Gonzo’s Royal Flush restroom area, where additional sections of the façade appear to have been removed since the last update. The demolition is most visible along the side that sits adjacent to the former PizzeRizzo building, suggesting crews are continuing to clear back layers of the original structures to prepare for the upcoming redevelopment. Nearby, the area around the former Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano is now surrounded by construction activity, with equipment, beams, and building materials staged throughout the site. Several windows near the entrance to the restaurant have also been boarded up, a common step when structures are being prepped for either major refurbishment or removal.

More changes can be seen near the former entrance to MuppetVision 3D, where piles of construction materials now sit in front of the building. Aerial views also reveal the outlines of roof elements that were removed from several buildings earlier this year, leaving behind clear “footprints” where those structures once stood. Elsewhere in the courtyard, the façades surrounding the former toy store building have been stripped down to their framing and wrapped in protective plastic to shield them from the elements during construction. The toy store façade itself appears largely intact for now, though a doorway and window have been boarded up.

Over by PizzeRizzo, the patio seating area remains filled with construction materials, while the space just outside the patio hints at upcoming infrastructure work. Several new lighting fixtures that resemble streetlamps are staged nearby, with both curved and straight post designs visible. Crews have also dug four square holes in the ground outside the patio, likely preparing for concrete footings that could support new lighting or themed elements as the Monstropolis makeover progresses.

Disney announced plans to replace the Muppets Courtyard area with a Monstropolis-themed land inspired by Pixar’s Monsters, Inc., bringing guests into the bustling monster city made famous in the beloved films. While Disney has not yet shared a full construction timeline for the project, progress like this shows that the transformation is well underway.

For longtime fans, the construction marks the end of an era for the Muppets at Hollywood Studios. But if these early changes are any indication, the monsters are slowly clocking in for their shift… and Monstropolis may be creeping closer to reality.

Steering this new solo adventure is Jorge R. Gutiérrez, the visionary director behind The Book of Life and Maya and the Three. With deep roots in Mexico City and Tijuana, Gutiérrez brings a unique cultural lens and a decorated history—including multiple Emmy wins—to the project, making him the ideal filmmaker to reimagine this classic character for modern audiences.

A brand-new replacement shuttle system is set to launch, providing reliable transportation for guests staying at local hotels and traveling to the Disneyland Resort area.

For decades, the ART shuttle system has been a staple for millions of Disneyland Resort guests, providing essential transit between local hotels and the Toy Story parking lot. However, facing persistent financial deficits, the Anaheim Transportation Network (ATN) is set to permanently cease operations after March 31, 2026. The wind-down process actually began on February 9, as the City of Anaheim initiated the search for a sustainable replacement.

Stepping up to fill the gap, the City of Garden Grove and the GGTID are launching a brand-new transportation service for Disneyland Resort guests. Starting the last week of March, the new shuttles—operated by the Parking Company of America—will provide all-day transit between the Disneyland Resort hub and 10 key area hotels:
