Spaceship Earth Officially Reopens at EPCOT Following Refurbishment

Spaceship Earth at EPCOT has officially completed its refurbishment as of October 25, 2025. The flagship attraction had been closed since August 25 for routine maintenance and general upkeep.

While the ride’s official reopening date was listed as October 25, EPCOT guests were treated to an early reopening when the attraction began soft-opening a week prior on October 18.

Inside the attraction, no major story changes were implemented. However, guests will find that many sets, figures, and audio-animatronics have been refreshed. A notable and welcome change is in the iconic “Thank the Phoenicians” scene. The boats in this scene, which had been stationary for a long period, are once again moving, restoring a piece of the ride’s original kinetic energy.

Work was also completed on the exterior of the geosphere. Repainting and panel replacements are visible near the base of the attraction, including the back section that hosts the Project Tomorrow post-show.

Additionally, crews have restored a long-broken lighting effect on one of the large oval signs at the attraction’s entrance. According to sources, the matching effect on the second sign, which is still not working, will be addressed in the future even though the attraction has now reopened.

Disney and LEGO are continuing the “Frozen Fan Fest” with the release of a brand-new animated special, “LEGO Disney Frozen: Operation Puffins,” which is available to stream on Disney+ starting today.

The new special is set after the events of the original Frozen and follows Anna and Elsa as they attempt to make Arendelle castle feel more comfortable and break free from old traditions. Their plans are quickly derailed by the return of a vengeful Duke of Weselton, who enlists a flock of menacing puffins to help him take over their beloved home. The adventure features the return of fan-favorite characters Anna, Elsa, Olaf, Kristoff, and Sven.

Alongside the new special, Disney and LEGO have also introduced a new collection of Frozen-themed building sets for fans of all ages.

LEGO Disney Frozen Advent Calendar 2025: A 24-day holiday countdown that includes charming mini-builds and micro-doll figures of Anna, Elsa, Kristoff, Olaf, and Sven. After all surprises are revealed, the box transforms into a festive game board.

Magic Kingdom Water Taxi Service Makes Major Route Change for Fort Wilderness and Wilderness Lodge

If you’re sailing between Magic Kingdom and Disney’s nearby resorts, you might notice a few changes to your route. Disney has quietly adjusted its water taxi service to combine the routes for Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground and Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, creating a new shared loop that’s altering travel times for many guests.

Previously, Magic Kingdom had two separate routes—one boat traveled directly to Fort Wilderness, and another ran exclusively to Wilderness Lodge. Now, a single large boat leaves Magic Kingdom, stops first at Wilderness Lodge, and then continues on to the Fort Wilderness dock.

This change effectively eliminates the direct Magic Kingdom-to-Fort Wilderness line, increasing the one-way trip from about 20 minutes to roughly 35 minutes when factoring in the extra stop. Guests at Fort Wilderness have already reported longer waits, especially during busy evening return times after fireworks.

Why the Change?
Cast Members say the update is tied to boat capacity and accessibility. Only the larger enclosed boats can safely transport scooters, while smaller open-air boats require strollers to be folded. With the combined route, the large boats can serve both resorts at once, followed closely by smaller boats to help balance passenger loads.

A third route connecting Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Contemporary Resort, and Wilderness Lodge still exists—but that line doesn’t begin service until the afternoon.

While this setup has been used seasonally in the past, Cast Members note that it’s currently the standard operating procedure as Disney evaluates whether this configuration will work long-term.

Great Scott! “Back to the Future” co-writer and producer Bob Gale just gave fans a wild idea that could change theme park history—he’s encouraging them to launch a letter-writing campaign to bring Back to the Future: The Ride back to Universal Parks.

Gale made the suggestion during a special Universal event on October 21 celebrating the 40th anniversary of the beloved 1985 film. Screen Rant shared a clip of the moment, and fans have been buzzing ever since—especially those who still get nostalgic for Doc Brown’s Institute of Future Technology.

A Ride Ahead of Its Time
Back to the Future: The Ride first opened at Universal Studios Florida in 1991, followed by Hollywood in 1993 and Japan in 2001. Guests boarded eight-passenger DeLoreans for a chaotic chase through time after Biff Tannen hijacked Doc Brown’s original time machine. The simulator experience featured Christopher Lloyd and Thomas F. Wilson reprising their iconic roles, making it one of Universal’s most ambitious attractions of the ‘90s.

Sadly, all versions of the ride have since closed—Orlando and Hollywood in 2007 (to make way for The Simpsons Ride), and Japan in 2016 (replaced by Minion Park). But with The Simpsons contract reportedly ending in 2028 and Universal teasing nostalgia-heavy additions lately, the timing of Gale’s suggestion has fans wondering… could the DeLorean hit 88 mph once again?

Back to the Future Still Has a Home in the Parks
Universal hasn’t completely erased the ride from existence. In Florida, you can still find Doc Brown’s DeLorean and the time-traveling train displayed near Springfield, where Doc himself sometimes appears for meet-and-greets—and even brings along Einstein the dog during special events. Hollywood guests can spot the Hill Valley Courthouse Square set during the Studio Tour, while Japan has long since moved on to Minions.

The franchise is also making a big-screen comeback this fall, with the original Back to the Future returning to theaters starting October 30. Fans visiting Universal CityWalk Cinemark can catch it there, complete with an exclusive DeLorean popcorn bucket that’s sure to fly off the shelves.

It’s time to get your Wookiee hugs ready! This year’s Disney Jollywood Nights at Disney’s Hollywood Studios will include a special guest from a galaxy far, far away — Chewbacca himself, dressed in his traditional red Life Day robes for the very first time at Walt Disney World.

Disney made the announcement with a teaser video on Instagram showing Chewie donning his crimson robe and clutching his glowing Life Day orb, a symbol of family, joy, and harmony on his home planet of Kashyyyk. The Star Wars holiday, celebrated annually on November 17, will line up perfectly with one of this year’s Jollywood Nights event dates, making it the ideal time to honor the beloved Wookiee tradition.

This marks the first time guests can meet Chewbacca in his Life Day costume, making the encounter one of the most anticipated additions to this year’s event lineup.

A Galaxy of Holiday Fun
Disney Jollywood Nights runs on select nights from November 8 through December 22, transforming Hollywood Studios into a retro-glam winter wonderland. This year’s party adds several new offerings, including:

The holidays are officially in sight, and Walt Disney World just gave us our first gift of the season—park hours through the end of 2025, including Christmas week and New Year’s Eve!

December is one of the busiest (and most magical) times of year at Walt Disney World, and now we know exactly when each park will open its gates to the holiday crowds.

Walt Disney World Posts Holiday Park Hours Through the End of

Magic Kingdom
Most December days are scheduled from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., with Early Entry beginning at 8:30 a.m. On Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party nights, the park will close at 6:00 p.m. for day guests, with the party running from 7:00 p.m. to midnight on December 2, 4, 5, 7, 9, 11, 12, 14, 16, 18, 19, and 21. For New Year’s Eve weekend, Magic Kingdom is currently listed from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m. both December 30 and 31—perfect for catching the iconic “Fantasy in the Sky” fireworks show.

EPCOT
EPCOT’s schedule runs 9:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. most days, with Early Entry from 8:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. Deluxe resort guests will get Extended Evening Hours until 11:30 p.m. on December 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29. For New Year’s Eve, the park will go big once again, staying open until 1:00 a.m.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Most days are listed 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. with Early Entry at 8:30 a.m. Jollywood Nights will return on December 1, 6, 10, 13, 17, 20, and 22, with event hours from 7:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. The park will also ring in 2026 with a midnight close on December 31.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom
Typically open 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. with Early Entry starting at 7:30 a.m., Animal Kingdom will also feature a few Extended Evening Hours nights until 8:00 p.m. on December 3, 10, 17, and 24.

What to Expect
Just like last year, guests should plan for extended hours to be added in mid-December as crowd levels rise. In 2024, Magic Kingdom regularly opened at 8:00 a.m. and stayed open until 11:00 p.m. or later during Christmas week, and similar adjustments are likely again this year.

EPCOT’s hours are already matching last year’s, but Hollywood Studios could see earlier openings, and Animal Kingdom tends to stretch into the evening once Christmas week begins.

Looks like the Big Top is getting a little extra pixie dust! Walt Disney World has filed two new construction permits for Storybook Circus at Magic Kingdom—home to Pete’s Silly Sideshow and Big Top Souvenirs.

The permits, filed under addresses 1272 and 1274 Magic Kingdom Drive, specifically name Birdair, Inc. as the contractor. If that name sounds familiar, it’s because Birdair specializes in tensile structures like canopies and fabric roofs—exactly the kind of material used for the colorful circus tents that anchor this corner of Fantasyland.

While the permits list only “general construction” as the scope of work, this likely points to a refresh or full replacement of the tent coverings. After years of Florida sun and rain, the once-vibrant blues and reds of the Big Top have definitely seen brighter days.

Both permits are valid through December 31, 2026, giving Disney plenty of time to complete the work. There’s been no official announcement yet regarding any closures, but given recent updates like the newly replaced banners at Pete’s Silly Sideshow, this could be part of a phased spruce-up for the entire area.

For now, Storybook Circus remains open for guests looking to grab a treat at Big Top Souvenirs or meet beloved pals like Minnie, Daisy, Goofy, and Donald in their circus-ready outfits. But don’t be surprised if you start seeing scaffolding or partial closures soon as Disney gives the Big Top a well-deserved encore performance.

Third Death This Month at Disney World Resort Confirmed By Authorities

Officials have confirmed that a guest passed away at Disney’s Contemporary Resort on Thursday, October 23, marking the third guest death reported at the Walt Disney World Resort this month. The three events are all seemingly unrelated.

Emergency personnel were seen at Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort on Thursday, though details were not immediately available.

On Friday, a representative for the Orange County Medical Examiner’s office confirmed to Entertainment Weekly (EW) that a guest, identified as Matthew Cohn, died on October 23. According to EW, Cohn experienced a medical emergency. The representative stated that Cohn’s “examination is not yet complete, therefore the Cause of Death and Manner of Death have not been determined.”

This is the third guest death confirmed by authorities at the resort in recent weeks.

On October 14th, a guest named Summer Equitz died at Disney’s Contemporary Resort in what the Orange County Sheriff’s Office ruled as an apparent suicide. At the time, officials noted that, contrary to social media reports, a Monorail was not involved in the incident.

On October 21, at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground, a man in his 60s experienced a “medical episode” and was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The Sheriff’s Office stated there were no signs of foul play in that incident.
