New Tree Shaped Lights become visible at Moana’s Journey of Water in Epcot. Riding on the monorail early in the morning gives you time to see all the construction going on around Epcot from a birds-eye view. We try and make this trip weekly to keep everyone updated on the goings-on behind the Walls!
This week at the newest attraction coming to Epcot in 2023, Moana’s Journey of Water. it appears the construction on the rock walls is complete. New ferns and greenery is being installed on the tops of the rocks. Furthermore, new lamp posts have been installed that look like they may become palm trees and blend into the surroundings.
Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana – Opening Late 2023
Explore the wonders of water along an interactive trail that’s fun for all ages—based on the Disney animated film Moana.
Where Water Comes to Life
Stroll along a self-guided outdoor trail where you can play and interact with water as it travels from the sky to the ocean and back again. Along the way, learn about the importance of water and discover its playful personality—just as Moana did on her heroic voyage.
Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana is scheduled to open within World Nature—the EPCOT neighborhood dedicated to understanding and preserving the beauty and balance of the natural world.
Epcot’s Friendship Boat Receives New Paintjob. This now makes it the second transportation boat to receive a makeover. In August of 2022, we showed images of the first Water taxi to receive a new paint job in many years, and now we have seen that Friendship IV has also been repainted.
The new color scheme is a light blue top, and blue trimming. The cabin is now outlined in a solid yellow.
Turn your travel into a treat on our fleet of boats, which is an attraction.
Take in the scenery and relax with welcome breezes as you sail around Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake. Feel the wind in your hair and the magic in the air as you cruise Crescent Lake and Lake Hollywood. Water taxis and ferries sail to and from Magic Kingdom park. Most routes run on 15- to 30-minute intervals.
EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios Watercraft service is available from the following Resort hotels:
Take a relaxing trip to Disney’s Vero Beach Resort. Yes, we live in the vacation capitol of the world, but sometimes even we need to get away to recharge. We choose to try out Disney’s Vero Beach Resort, which is only a two-hour drive from the Walt Disney World Resorts, we could not have been more pleasantly surprised at how relaxing and beautiful this resort is.
Walking into Vero Beach Resort you know you are not at Disney World anymore even though it feels very familiar. While the resort itself has that Disney look and feel, there is no hustle and bustle, no one is racing for the monorail or busses, and no one is in a hurry. Other guests actually smiled and greeted you like you were part of the family.
The staff was great. Always saying hello, or good morning, or just generally striking up a conversation. They made sure we knew what activities were happening around the resort, and were quick to help out in any way. I think that maybe what stood out the most, was just how pleasant everyone was. It was exactly how you think a Disney resort is going to be.
Disney’s Vero Beach Resort
When you think about Vero Beach Resort, think of Yacht and Beach Club, or Boardwalk. With a more home-like feel. You have the ocean theme, and I would hope so, the Atlantic Ocean sits just a few feet outside the back doors, which are home to turtle nesting grounds for a few months out of the year. The resort and cast members go out of their way to make sure these protected turtles are cared for.
With one restaurant, The Wind and Wave, open for breakfast and dinner, a Quick Service, and a lounge bar, Green Cabin Room, food options are plentiful. While adult beverages are available at and outside the bar, or again at the lounge. The Green Cabin offers stunning ocean views from the second floor.
Kids will be more than happy swimming in the huge pool, with the lighthouse slide. The slide may actually be the fastest and best water slide at a Disney resort. The whole family will enjoy the activities normally offered to DVC guests, and they will also enjoy the Miniature Golf Course that guests can play for free.
Disney’s Vero Beach Resort
For those that are looking for a little fun in the sun, Vero Beach itself is beautiful. This is the Atlantic Ocean and it is a wonderful blue/green color most days. The beach is quiet and great for early morning sunrise strolls looking for shells and sea glass. When the sun comes up though, you can rent chaise lounges and umbrellas and get your tan on, while the kid’s bogey board or play in the surf.
Our final thoughts are simple. Go! Disney’s Vero Beach may just be the best Disney Resort we have ever stayed at. We needed a break and got one. Laid back, enjoyable, beautiful, and most importantly to us, friendly.

Disneyland Resort Announces $1.5 Million in Grants to Anaheim Nonprofits and Schools
The Walt Disney Company is well known for giving back to its communities. Now, the Disneyland Resort has announced $1.5 million in grants to local Anaheim nonprofits and schools.
These grants go toward programs like Avanza through Anaheim Family YMCA that prepare high school students with networking skills, resume building and interview techniques and organizations like Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orange County & The Inland Empire, which matches high school students with Disneyland Resort mentors for a glimpse into the workforce.
In total, the Disneyland Resort workforce development initiative has touched more than 10,000 lives over the last five years. $5.5 million of contributions have helped nonprofits and school districts grow their existing workforce programming and develop brand-new programs to meet residents’ unique needs. These grants support long-term collaborations with organizations like Orange County United Way and Chrysalis, and welcome new organizations to the network like Orangewood Foundation and the Community College District of North Orange County.
Anaheim’s Innovative Mentoring Experience (AIME) is one program Disneyland Resort has supported since 2019, with the Anaheim Union High School District. This program allows students from Anaheim high schools to build relationships with mentors in real workplaces (including Disneyland Resort) to experience the workforce and get a taste for potential career paths.
Just last week, Disneyland Resort President Ken Potrock presented AUHSD with funding to help grow the program and give more students an opportunity to explore future careers.
“We are so proud to continue our support of Anaheim schools and nonprofits that are championing the workforce of tomorrow,” said Potrock. “We are grateful to be part of the ripple effect of support in our community and shining a light on what these incredible organizations do.”
“While AUHSD has committed to providing our students with the technical and soft skills to be ready for life after high school, having the students work hand-in-hand with industry leaders in our own backyard propels our students to be leaders in their schools and communities and empowers them to be agents of change in their own life to better those around them,” said Ray Solorzano, AIME summer program coordinator.
From long-term mentoring to facilitating skills workshops, Disneyland Resort cast member volunteers (or Disney voluntEARs) have been allies to these incredible organizations, giving their time and expertise, while building relationships with students and adults entering the workforce. Check out some success stories from the past five years of the program:
One of the Disney VoluntEARS making a difference is Princeton Parker, associate manager, content programming and synergy. Passionate about inspiring youth, Princeton volunteered to be a part of the Speakers Bureau for the workforce development initiative, which allows him to speak to various groups about his career journey. During virtual leadership sessions with Orange County United Way, he empowered one high school student in particular, Cindy Nguyen, to have more confidence in pursuing her goals. She now works at the Disneyland Resort as a food and beverage cast member!
Another long-time Disney VoluntEAR is Kim Sims, security manager, who works with clients at Chrysalis to empower them with skills and confidence to land meaningful employment. Since Chrysalis opened in Anaheim in 2018, they have helped over 2,000 individuals find jobs. Kim has helped prepare them with everything from interview skills to help building a resume, many for the first time.
Stories like these showcase just how much incredible work is being done to inspire the workforce of tomorrow. Take a look below at how the program has made an impact in Anaheim.

It looks like according to his post that the fire started after Harmonious ended around 9:40 pm. Guests could see the smoke from the barge all over Epcot.
This is not the first time a fire has broken out during Harmonious. Back in September, a small fire was started on the roof of the American Pavilion Building from the fireworks.
