First Look at Mickey Saves Christmas Holiday Special
Live-action comedy classics. Star-studded variety programs. Beloved hand-drawn cartoons. Christmas entertainment comes in many forms… but there’s just something especially joyful about stop-motion-animated stories at the holidays. The history of these beloved shows—created by posing small puppets on scale-model sets—stretches back to television specials from the 1960s and runs through the genre’s pinnacle in 1993 with the Disney feature film Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas. Now Mickey Mouse and friends have their own stop-motion special, Mickey Saves Christmas.
Mickey Saves Christmas plugs right in to the stop-motion holiday tradition, with its storybook locations—a quaint village, a snowy forest, the North Pole, Santa’s workshop—and its Christmas Eve story line. When the lights on the roof of Mickey’s cabin go out just as Santa tries to land, a mishap leaves the jolly old elf with no toys for the children of Hot Dog Hill. So, Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Donald and Daisy Duck, Goofy, and Pluto all hop aboard Santa’s sleigh to get to the North Pole in time to make and wrap a new batch of gifts. With the elves having clocked out, it’s up to Mickey and friends to save Christmas.
Where there’s dancing, there has to be festive music, and Mickey Saves Christmas is full of fresh and catchy songs by composer Ben Zeadman and lyricist Laura Schein. “They really brought so much to this project,” Brooks says. “These are sing-along songs. You should have seen me singing along on the set, and singing through the halls of the studio, just repeating these songs over and over.”
As with the best family holiday specials, Mickey Saves Christmas will appeal to the young and the young at heart. It’s also a milestone—the longest stop-motion Mickey Mouse production to date.
Mickey Saves Christmas premieres on Sunday, Nov. 27 at 7 p.m. EST. You can catch Mickey Saves Christmas on ABC, Disney Channel, Disney Junior, and Disney XD on Nov. 27, as well as streaming it on Disney+.

Lunar New Year, Jan. 20 – Feb. 15, 2023
May health, luck and prosperity be yours! Disney California Adventure park will usher in the Lunar New Year with a joyous tribute to Chinese, Korean and Vietnamese cultures with a multicultural celebration filled with auspicious wishes for the new year. In 2023, we will be celebrating the Year of the Rabbit. The Chinese zodiac calendar plays a significant role in shaping the traditions, holidays and foods enjoyed in Asian communities all over the globe. In Chinese culture, the rabbit has the unique characteristic of waiting for an opportune moment and then leaping into action. More than any other zodiac animal, the rabbit symbolizes luck. We will also be recognizing the Vietnamese zodiac calendar during the Lunar New Year celebration, which marks 2023 as the Year of the Cat.
On-hand to celebrate during Lunar New Year will be Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse in their festive attire, plus Mulan and Mushu from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Mulan.”
The centerpiece of the celebration will be “Mulan’s Lunar New Year Procession,” a vibrant performance hosted by Mulan and Mushu, that features dozens of spirited parade performers as they honor family, friendship, and the potential for a fortune-filled new year. In 2023, the procession will be extended throughout all of Disney California Adventure along the parade route from Paradise Gardens through Hollywood Land.
The culinary landscape will also expand, with the addition of two new Lunar New Year marketplaces: Bamboo Blessings and Wrapped with Love. They will join the returning marketplaces, including Lucky 8 Lantern, Prosperity Bao & Buns, Red Spice Traders, and Longevity Noodle Co. With the return of the popular Sip and Savor pass, you may choose to taste your way through six mouthwatering food & non-alcoholic beverage selections from participating marketplaces and dining locations.* Purchase for yourself, or share with a friend!
“Hurry Home – Lunar New Year Celebration” also returns, presented prior to “World of Color.” This heartwarming nighttime water show tells the tale of a little lantern’s quest to reunite with family for the annual celebration of good luck and fortune. During the celebration, you can check the Disneyland app for showtimes.
You’ll get to enjoy even more Lunar New Year celebrations with family-friendly fun including crafts, Chinese calligraphy demonstrations and the Lucky Wishes Wall, where guests can share their hopes for the future/year ahead. Plus, additional tasty treats and festival items will be available at Paradise Garden Grill and Lucky Fortune Cookery.
Also returning beginning Jan. 20, you’ll once again get to see Raya, from the Disney Animation film “Raya and the Last Dragon.” Under a forest canopy deep in the heart of Redwood Creek Challenge Trail, you may encounter the heroic Raya, greeting new friends and visiting from the newly reunited lands of Kumandra.

The foodie favorite Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival will once again feature the best of what California has to offer! In addition, guests will find even more festival-inspired dishes at select restaurants throughout Disney California Adventure and special items will also be featured in the Downtown Disney District and at the Hotels of Disneyland Resort.
Family-friendly entertainment also returns to the Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival with appearances by the Jammin’ Chefs, Chef Goofy, and the “Alice’s Wonderland Bakery Unbirthday Party” show. Disney’s Strange World Dazzles with Epic Storytelling and Adventure
Walt Disney Animation Studios’ new film “Strange World” introduces audiences to a legendary family of explorers, the Clades. Searcher Clade is a successful farmer and devout family man, who, as a teenager, decided upon a different path than his infamous father Jaeger.
Searcher’s dad, Jaeger, set out to become the most famous explorer in the history of Avalonia (the fictional setting of the film). Jaeger pushed Searcher to follow in his footsteps and got lost along the way. After 25 years, Searcher has become his own man and cultivated a miraculous discovery of his own, Pando, a plant that helps power their entire civilization. When Pando and their world comes under threat Searcher is forced to channel his father’s teachings once more to save their way of life.
Starring Dennis Quaid (Jaegar Clade), Jake Gyllenhal (Searcher Clade), Gabrielle Union (Meridian Clade), Lucy Liu (Callisto Mal), Jaboukie Young-White (Ethan Clade). Original Score by Henry Jackman (Falcon and the Winter Soldier, The Gray Man, Ron’s Gone Wrong) and Directed by Don Hall. Co-Director Qui Nguyen and Produced by Roy Conli.
Searcher’s son, Ethan, helps with the farm but also wrestles with the legacy of the family business. This new adventure will bring together three generations of Clades in pursuit of a solution to the crisis that could destroy their livelihoods and legacies.
While Pando is a fictional place; the setting of Strange World is a beautiful allegory for Planet Earth, says director Don Hall. “What started everything was just thinking about my sons and the world they’re going to inherit,” he says. “How is it different from what I inherited from my dad?”
The film leans heavily into the relationships that develop between fathers and sons, particularly how they often see the world in different ways. As men, we often try to forge our own path in life, striving for independence often forgetting how much with have in common with the men who rear us.
This film finds strength in the bond that develops between fathers and sons, and the three generations of Jaegers in this film provide some of the most beautiful moments in a gorgeously animated adventure story.
Co-director and writer Qui Nguyen recalls early conversations with director Don Hall about the story. “The thing that got me was when he said it’s about fathers and sons, ”says Nguyen. “I am also a dad of two kids and I felt like that was exactly what I wanted to be doing. This is a story I needed and wanted to tell.
“We could relate to Jaeger and Searcher when it comes to our kids,” continued Nguyen. “There’s a push and pull between ambition and just being a dad. It’s something almost every artist here at Disney—anyone who’s chasing a big dream—would understand. A big reason why we do it is for them—and, man, we don’t want to lose focus of that. This is the story that I’m going through, the story that Don is going through, and the story our characters are going through.”
“Strange World” is an original action-packed comedy adventure in the spirit of pulp novels. “I always loved big adventure stories,” says Don Hall, “the specific kind of adventure story where explorers find a hidden world that was heretofore unknown to them or anybody else.
And that goes back so far into late 1800s, early 1900s—Jules Verne, H.G. Wells, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. That was sort of the birth of the big adventure story in novel form. ‘King Kong’ is a good film reference that had a group of explorers find a new hidden world. I wanted to evoke that in this movie.”
The film draws so much inspiration from the pulp novels of the early 20th century, moving from page to screen. Avalonia and lush green colors evoke the simple country life and provincial villages of yesteryear. The discovery of the plant Pando revolutionizes the landscape and quickly gives way to a utopian transformation of Avalonia that smacks of Disney Imagineering and Walt Disnesque innovation.
The true beauty of the film however lies in the subterranean Strange World that lies unknowingly below. Filled with exotic creatures and teeming with life and color, it’s where the film truly starts to find its most exciting storytelling. Without spoiling this adventure and some pretty fantastic reveals, let me say that this film is beautiful in both its storytelling and imagery.
Don Hall and the creative team behind Strange World have created a wonderful film filled with adventure that is sure to delight children of all ages. (4 out of 5 Stars)
DON HALL (Director) began his career at Walt Disney Animation Studios in June 1995 as a story apprentice on “Tarzan.” He served as a story artist on several development projects and productions, including “The Emperor’s New Groove” and “Chicken Little” before becoming head of story for “Meet the Robinsons” and “The Princess and the Frog.” Hall made his directorial debut for Disney Animation’s “Winnie the Pooh” and went on to direct “Big Hero 6,” which won an Academy Award® for best animated feature film. He then served as co-director on “Moana” and worked on several development projects before his role as director on “Raya and the Last Dragon.”
QUI NGUYEN (Co-Director/Writer) is a Vietnamese-American playwright and screenwriter, who previously wrote with Adele Lim the Academy Award®-nominated Walt Disney Animation Studios feature, “Raya and the Last Dragon.”
Known for his shows “Vietgone” and “She Kills Monsters,” Nguyen is an alumnus of Marvel Studios Writers Program and has also written for “Dispatches from Elsewhere,” “The Society,” “Incorporated” and “Peg+Cat,” for which he received a 2016 Daytime Emmy. He is also a co-founder of Vampire Cowboys Theatre Company of New York City—credited for being the “pioneers of geek theatre.”

Visitors will see the theme park transformed into a winter wonderland sparkling with more than 3 million beautiful lights and the addition of NEW holiday experiences at Wild Artic Plaza during the event.
The main feature of the magical festival is the Sea of Trees – a guest favorite. The wintery, watery wonderland is back immersing guests in a sea of twinkling holiday trees that sparkle to music as they light up the water. Dazzling images come to life on more than 100 trees, including a giant glistening centerpiece that towers 70 feet above the water.
We loved seeing the “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” characters and merchandise !
During the celebration, guests will also be able to indulge in ALL-NEW delicious holiday treats, experience fabulous holiday shows and entertainment and watch an impressive NEW holiday firework show.
Ice Skating at SeaWorld Orlando
SeaWorld Orlando will be one of the few places Central Floridians can lace up and hit the ice. During the day, park guests will have the opportunity to ice skate at Bayside Stadium. Once night falls, they can sit back and relax as the pros show off what they got with “Winter Wonderland on Ice”. Christmas comes to life on a stage of ice, jewels, and lights as skaters dazzle and delight in this show-stopping, ice skating extravaganza. A sea of sparkling trees and towering fountains dancing in the background come together to create an experience the entire family will not want to miss.
Our night ended with Winter Wonderland on Ice and Holiday Reflections Fireworks show. We always enjoy the Ice show. There is something special about seeing Ice Skating outdoors in Orlando! The skaters and the show are beautifully done with some well-choreographed moments.
Celebration, guests can be dazzled by the impressive “Holiday Reflections” fireworks show that showcases an impressive fireworks display set to the sounds of the season in the sky above the Sea of Trees. It was the perfect ending to a wonderful evening.
We highly recommend SeaWorld Christmas Celebration for the whole family!
Kareem Daniel Leaves Disney Following Bob Chapek’s Departure
Kareem Daniel, Chairman of Disney Media and Entertainment Distribution, is leaving the Walt Disney Company following Bob Chapek’s departure. Kareem was a top leader under Chapek so it comes as no surprise that he is also leaving the company.
Kareem Daniel was the head of the new Disney Media and Entertainment Distribution, an organization that Chapek put in place when he was CEO. The organization was charged with the dissemination and ad sales for Disney content, including Disney+.
Iger’s vision differed from the organization’s. In 2021, Iger voiced his ideas saying, “In a world and business that is awash with data, it is tempting to use data to answer all of our questions, including creative questions. I urge all of you not to do that.”
Iger sent a note to employees today regarding Kareem’s departure from the company:
“I’ve asked Dana Walden, Alan Bergman, Jimmy Pitaro, and Christine McCarthy to work together on the design of a new structure that puts more decision-making back in the hands of our creative teams and rationalizes costs, and this will necessitate a reorganization of Disney Media & Entertainment Distribution. As a result, Kareem Daniel will be leaving the company, and I hope you will all join me in thanking him for his many years of service to Disney.”
It comes as no surprise that those close to Chapek will also be leaving the company as Iger works to “set the strategic direction for renewed growth” at Disney.
What do you think of this next departure at Disney?

Disney Board Approached Bob Iger on Friday To Replace Bob Chapek
According to a report on CNBC the move to bring Bob Iger in happened rather quickly. Starting this past Friday Disney’s Board reached out to Iger, without any other serious candidates in mind to replace Chapek as CEO.
The Board decided to replace Bob Chapek after internal complaints about Chapek’s leadership with concerns following Disney’s most recent quarterly earnings report. One of the executives to express a lack of confidence in Chapek was Christine McCarthy, Disney’s chief financial officer.
The changeover of the Bobs happened rather quickly on Sunday night and Chapek and his inner circle were caught off guard by the news as it started to break everywhere! One of the major pushbacks came when Bob Chapek sent out the memo last week about cost-cutting at Disney with layoffs and hiring freezes.
With Iger’s return, the Board’s overall goal is to stabilize the Walt Disney Company and give some “hope and optimism to the organization.”

Walt Disney Stock Jumps 7% so far this morning as Bob Iger resumes Control as Walt Disney CEO. Last night news broke when The Walt Disney Company announced that Bob Iger would assume immediate control as CEO. Ending the tenure of Bob Chapek.
When the Dow Jones opened this morning Disney Stock jumped back up by 7%, staying over $100 per share as of this writing. The news of Bob Iger coming back as CEO apparently buoyed the falling Disney stock that closed last Friday under $100, coming off the highs of over $200 per share at the stock’s highest.
Walt Disney Stock had fallen over 40% and the fourth quarter report put light on some of Disney’s failings. Bob Chapek took the fall and last night he was replaced by Bob Iger who was previously the Walt Disney Company CEO for 15 years.
Robert A. Iger returned to The Walt Disney Company as Chief Executive Officer on November 20, 2022. Mr. Iger previously served as CEO and Chairman of The Walt Disney Company from 2005 to 2020, then Executive Chairman and Chairman of the Board through 2021.
Over his 15 years leading Disney, Mr. Iger was the steward of one of the world’s largest media companies and some of the most respected and beloved brands around the globe. His strategic vision focused on three fundamental pillars: generating the best creative content possible; fostering innovation and utilizing the latest technology; and expanding into new markets around the world.
Mr. Iger built on Disney’s rich history of unforgettable storytelling with the acquisitions of Pixar (2006), Marvel (2009), Lucasfilm (2012), and 21st Century Fox (2019), and the landmark opening of Disney’s first theme park and resort in mainland China, Shanghai Disney Resort; and the release of a number of record-setting films including Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame, Disney’s Frozen and Frozen 2, and the groundbreaking movie Marvel’s Black Panther. Always one to embrace new technology, Mr. Iger made Disney an industry leader through its creative content offerings across new and multiple platforms, including the highly successful launch of the Disney+ streaming service in November 2019 and ESPN+ in 2018.
Disney’s exceptional entertainment experiences, widely diverse content, and unique skill in managing businesses in an integrated manner led to strong results. During Mr. Iger’s tenure, The Walt Disney Company was recognized as one of the “Most Reputable Companies” in both America and the world by Forbes magazine (2006–2019); one of the “Best Employers” in both America and the world by Forbes magazine (2019 and 2018, respectively); one of the “World’s Most Admired Companies” by Fortune magazine (2009–2021); and one of the “World’s Most Respected Companies” by Barron’s (2009–2017).
Mr. Iger was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Disney in October 2005 and was elected Chairman in 2012. In February 2020, he assumed the role of Executive Chairman and directed the company’s creative endeavors until his retirement in December 2021. From 2000-2005, Mr. Iger served as President and Chief Operating Officer. He officially joined the Disney senior management team in 1996 as Chairman of the Disney-owned ABC Group, and in 1999, was given the additional responsibility of President, Walt Disney International. In that role, Mr. Iger expanded and coordinated Disney’s presence outside of the United States, establishing the blueprint for the company’s international growth today. As Chairman of the ABC Group, Mr. Iger oversaw the broadcast television network and station group, cable television properties, and radio and publishing businesses, and also guided the complex merger between Capital Cities/ABC, Inc. and the Walt Disney Company. During Mr. Iger’s years with ABC, he obtained hands-on experience in every aspect of the television business—including news, sports, and entertainment—as well as in program acquisition, rights negotiations, and business affairs. He began his career at ABC in 1974.
Mr. Iger has been named TIME’s Businessperson of the Year (2019); one of Forbes magazine’s “World’s Most Powerful People” (2018); one of the “Top Gun CEOs” by Forbes magazine (2009); one of Fortune magazine’s “25 Most Powerful People in Business” (2006, 2007); one of the “Best CEOs” by Institutional Investor magazine (2008, 2009, 2010, 2011); MarketWatch’s “CEO of the Year” (2006); and “CEO of the Year” by Chief Executive magazine (2014).
Mr. Iger was inducted into the Television Academy Hall of Fame in January 2020, and the Broadcasting and Cable Hall of Fame in 2015. He currently serves on the boards of the 9/11 Memorial & Museum, Bloomberg Philanthropies, Perfect Day and Genies; and served as chairman of the capital campaign for the new Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles. He was previously a member of the Apple board of directors (2011-2019).
In September 2022, Mr. Iger was recognized as an Honorary Knight Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire by Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II for his services to the UK / US relations.
