French Market at Disneyland will be Reimagined into Tiana’s Palace
Soon the French Market Restaurant in New Orleans Square at Disneyland will be reimagined into Tiana’s Palace from Disney’s Princess and the Frog.
Tiana’s Palace will be the newest restaurant on Orleans Street. Within its peach-colored walls and fancy green wrought-iron balconies, you’ll find elegant fixtures and appointments reminiscent of Tiana’s life and friendships. The new Tiana’s Palace will have much of the same pinch of pizzazz and flair as the restaurant from the film, offering authentic New Orleans flavors inspired by Tiana’s friends and adventures in this quick-service style restaurant. While Tiana’s Palace is not a character dining location, guests may find Tiana in New Orleans Square.
The menu at Tiana’s Palace will expand on many of the current favorites served in the location, explore seasonal flavors and, of course, offer some New Orleans classics. Tiana’s Palace is sure to be a gathering place for friends and family to enjoy great food and celebrate together, just like Tiana and her father James dreamed of.
Disney Imagineers are partnering with Disney Animation artists from the original film to bring this story to life at Disneyland park. In fact, the film designers took inspiration from the exterior of the original French Market Restaurant in New Orleans Square when designing Tiana’s Palace for the movie, so this is a long-dreamt homecoming.
To begin this work, French Market Restaurant (and Mint Julep Bar) will be closed beginning February 17, 2023, and will reopen as Tiana’s Palace (alongside Mint Julep Bar with its famous mint juleps and Mickey beignets) later in the year.
Blizzard Beach will be closed this weekend due to cold creeping into Central Florida over the next few days. While it might be great for a snowman even Olaf is looking forward to the warmer weather. He loves warm hugs and summer!
The closure will last from January 13-15th with a planned re-opening of January 16th. It is a standard practice for Disney to issue closures for their waterparks during colder weather due to concern for guest safety and comfort.
New Theming Added
Disney’s Blizzard Beach originally opened on April 1 1995 and just recently underwent a partial retheming. Beloved characters from Disney’s popular Frozen movie were added throughout the already snowy-themed waterpark.
Blizzard Beach has several fun attractions for the youngest to the more daring.
Summit Plummet
Plunge 12 stories almost straight down, rocketing through a darkened tunnel and into a massive spray of whitewater after a 360-foot-long, high-speed descent. Hardcore thrill-seekers won’t want to miss this slide so steep, you can’t see where you’re going—until you’re there!
Grab your mat, take your mark, and zip headfirst on your belly to the bottom of Mount Gushmore on a 250-foot-long “toboggan” race that features 3 exhilarating dips and hills.
Disney’s Blizzard Beach is the perfect place to cool down while visiting the parks during the warmer months.
If you are visiting Walt Disney World this weekend and are disappointed by the colder weather don’t worry. Florida will be back in full operational mode with temps back in the 70s to 80s by Wednesday. Just the way Olaf likes it!

From the Big Screen to the Theme Park
In 1982, Disney made filmmaking history with TRON, the first production of its kind to mix live action with computer-generated visuals and backlit animation. This iconic film went on to inspire video games, comic books, an animated series and the 2010 sequel TRON: Legacy—as well as this new Disney theme park attraction.

Reedy Creek District discusses long-term land use at Walt Disney World. Reports have come out from yesterday’s meeting of the Reedy Creek Improvement District that the potential for a 5th Park, more resorts, and 2 water park-type parks is possible in the future. The full report should be out by February for everyone to see.
To be clear, this is not about to happen, nor is it actually being planned. This is land-use approval planning only. Some of these planning stages have been around since the last District meeting in 2020 and are in effect until 2032. This could potentially bring the total of parks to 6 Large theme parks, and 7 Smaller Parks (ESPN WWoS, Typhoon Lagoon)
Reedy Creek Improvement District (the “District”) is a progressive form of government, created in 1967 by a special Act of the Florida Legislature, the purpose of which is to support and administer certain aspects of the economic development and tourism within District boundaries. With an administration office located on Hotel Plaza Boulevard in Lake Buena Vista, the District encompasses approximately 25,000 acres in both Orange and Osceola counties, servicing 19 landowners, including Walt Disney Co. and its wholly-owned affiliates.
