New Fountains at Sleeping Beauty Castle in Disneyland for Disney100
The Disney100 celebration kicks off today at the Disneyland Resort! As part of the celebration, there are new fountains at Sleeping Beauty Castle. These fountains got turned on a day or two before the celebration began.
There are two new fountains in the moat surrounding Sleeping Beauty Castle at Disneyland. The fountains stream from up to 18 nozzles, nearly reaching the height of guests on the bridge above.
The fountains complement the Disney100 decor on the castle and they will also light up at night during the new Wondrous Journeys nighttime spectacular.

Disney World Reverses Direction Allows Cell Phones on Tron Lightcycle Run. Today Disney released more protocols regarding lockers, Virtual Queue, Photopass, and now a small compartment located on the individual seats that will hold your phones and small personal items.
Reports came out last month on the opening date for Tron Lightcycle/ Run in the Magic Kingdom and the brand new, first-time in use Disney locker system. After initially saying no items of any kind will be allowed on the ride, Disney has reversed the course of this decision.
All items must be placed either in a locker before you board your Lightcycle or in a small compartment located on the attraction vehicle that can hold items such as cellphones, glasses, or wallets.
New to TRON Lightcycle / Run, a double-sided and digitized locker system will be used to store bags and loose items while you race your Lightcycle. Inside the attraction queue, these complimentary lockers pair directly with your MagicBand, MagicBand+, or ticket media so you can easily lock and reopen your locker with a quick tap. Guests without a MagicBand or other ticket media (such as a card) will be provided with a card to assign their locker.

In 1982, Disney made filmmaking history with TRON, the first production of its kind to mix live action with computer-generated visuals and backlit animation. This iconic film went on to inspire video games, comic books, an animated series, and the 2010 sequel TRON: Legacy—as well as this new Disney theme park attraction.

Ever since the last drop of merchandise inspired in the world’s most magical celebration arrived to shopDisney and Disney Parks, this Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary Grand Finale Sweatshirt became a must have for Disney fans.
The sweatshirt immediately sold out at the parks and it hasn’t being available on shopDisney yet, luckily we found it at Magic Kingdom for $69.99 but is going fast! According to Cast Members, it sells out almost immediately, so if you are lucky enough to spot it at the parks, definitely get it before it goes away.

The world’s most magical celebration is coming to an end and with that comes the final installment of merchandise to commemorate this big milestone. These Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary Grand Finale Minnie Ears are part of that final collection and they did not dissapoint, they are stunning!
We found them at The Emporium in Magic Kingdom for $39.99, you can also get yours online at shopDisney.
This ear headband features black padded ears with an all over pattern of EARidescent characters and park icons and a gold rim around the ears. The regular Minnie Mouse bow has been replaced with a gorgeous gold Cinderella Castle 50 charm for an extra elegant touch. We love them!

Neil Patrick Harris Returns as Barney Stinson for How I Met Your Father
Neil Patrick Harris suited up as Barney Stinson one more time for the Season 2 Premier of How I Met Your Father (Now on HULU). How I Met Your Father is a spin-off of the legen, wait for it, …dary CBS Sitcom from 2005 that ran a total of 9 seasons.
The cameo occurs when Sophie (Hillary Duff) rear-ends a car in front of her with the license plate “LGNDRY.” Out of the vehicle steps Barney Stinson who says “Duuuude” as his bumper promptly falls off. The voiceover then asks, “Who’s that?” and future Sophie (Kim Cattrall) replies, “We’ll get there soon enough.”
Neil Patrick Harris is the second character from ‘How I Met Your Mother’ to return to its spinoff. Cobie Smulders appeared in the season 1 finale of the sitcom. The Showrunners Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger plan to inject all of the original characters eventually, and we have certainly not seen the last of Barney Stinson.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Berger and Aptaker discussed their plans for future cameos and the excitement surrounding the return of Barney. When asked how Barney’s return came to fruition Berger explained:
“We’re always so excited at the prospect of having anyone from the original on. We had an idea on how to use Barney this season that was really exciting to us very early. From there, we very quickly looped in [original HIMYM director] Pam Fryman, who texted him and said, “Do you want to come hang?” Because everyone adores Pam so, so much, she got a very speedy response. We got on a zoom with Neil and pitched him our idea for it and it fell into place very quickly, which was amazing.”
As far as Barney’s continued role in Season 2, Berger quipped, “That was really truly just a little tease but we do have some really meaty stuff coming. More is coming. By the time his appearance on our show is over, people will feel really satisfied by what they’ve seen.”

More Details Revealed on the Opening of Tron Lightcycle Run. Disney’s newest coaster, Tron Lightcycle/ Run, in Disney’s Magic Kingdom, will open on April 4th, 2023. Disney just announce the Virtual Queue system and the new locker protocols.
We are counting down the days to the ultimate race across the Grid when TRON Lightcycle / Run presented by Enterprise opens at Magic Kingdom Park on April 4.
Before you board your very own Lightcycle and enter this race as the newest member of Team Blue, here are the top 4 things to know:
1. JOIN TEAM BLUE VIA THE VIRTUAL QUEUE
When TRON Lightcycle / Run opens it will use a virtual queue, allowing guests the opportunity to experience the attraction later in the day and enjoy all that Magic Kingdom Park has to offer while they wait to enter the Grid. Guests with a valid ticket or pass and a theme park reservation for Magic Kingdom Park on the same date will have the opportunity to request to join the virtual queue via the My Disney Experience app*. A standby queue will not be available.
Stay tuned to disneyworld.com/virtualqueue for details about when and how guests will be able to request to join the virtual queue for TRON Lightcycle / Run.
Guests may also have the option to purchase individual – or à la carte – Lightning Lane entry in the My Disney Experience app*. On the day of their visit, Team Blue recruits with a valid admission and a park reservation for Magic Kingdom Park on the same date may visit the Disney Genie Service Tip Board in the app to choose an arrival window and make their purchase before joining the high-speed race against Team Orange. Guests may check the app on the day of their visit for pricing and availability.

The Walt Disney Company marks its 100th anniversary in 2023, and the Disneyland Resort will celebrate the milestone with new experiences and entertainment, décor, specialty treats and more throughout the year, beginning Jan. 27, 2023. Disney100 celebrates Disney storytellers, creators and fans around the world who, together, spark the magic and wonder of Disney. This celebration will bring new experiences with beloved Disney characters along with heartwarming new stories to delight guests and audiences around the globe.
While Disney Parks around the world will commemorate the 100th anniversary, the heart of the celebration is rooted at the Disneyland Resort. The festivities at The Happiest Place on Earth begin on Jan. 27 with the grand opening of Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway and the debut of all-new nighttime spectaculars by Disney Live Entertainment: “World of Color – ONE” and “Wondrous Journeys.” More magic will arrive throughout 2023, including the return of the “Magic Happens” parade on Feb. 24, reopening of Mickey’s Toontown on March 8 and new developments at the Hotels of the Disneyland Resort coming later this year. New attractions and entertainment celebrate Disney stories
All-new experiences debuting on Jan. 27 immerse guests in beloved Disney stories and draw inspiration from the history of The Walt Disney Company.
The all-new, family-friendly attraction Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway makes its Disneyland Park debut. Inside the El CapiTOON Theater in Mickey’s Toontown, Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway transports guests into the wacky and unpredictable cartoon world of Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse, where they board a train engineered by Goofy and embark on a zany, out-of-control adventure with surprising twists and turns.
To experience Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, guests will be required to join the complimentary virtual queue*, which is accessible only via the Disneyland app.** Upon its grand opening, there will not be a standby line for this attraction. The virtual queue enrollment times will be twice daily, at 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. PT.
More information on the virtual queue system is available at Disneyland.com. Guests may also get quicker entry to this attraction with the purchase of an individual Lightning Lane arrival window, subject to availability.
“World of Color – ONE” at Disney California Adventure Park celebrates the storytelling legacy started by Walt Disney a century ago, illustrating how a single action, like a drop of water, creates a ripple that can grow into a wave of change. Featuring a new original song, “Start a Wave,” this new nighttime spectacular brings some of the most courageous, loving and inspiring characters to life in new ways. This is the first Disneyland Resort nighttime spectacular to feature characters, music and moments from Walt Disney Animation Studios, Pixar Animation Studios, the Avengers and Star Wars in the same production.
Guests will be able to access viewing areas for “World of Color – ONE” through the virtual queue* system available only via the Disneyland app. Distribution for the complimentary virtual queue will begin at noon, daily, subject to availability. More information is available at Disneyland.com. If the virtual queue reaches capacity, guests can check in with a cast member at the Paradise Bay viewing area shortly before “World of Color – ONE” begins for walk-up viewing options. Joining the virtual queue is not required, but it is highly recommended as walk-up viewing options for each performance are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
“Wondrous Journeys” at Disneyland Park features nods to every Walt Disney Animation Studios film over the last century and a new song, “It’s Wondrous.” Filled with artistry, music, storytelling and heart, the nighttime spectacular builds upon the park’s state-of-the-art projection effects to turn Main Street, U.S.A., Sleeping Beauty Castle, the façade of “it’s a small world” and the Rivers of America into an artist’s canvas. On select nights, “Wondrous Journeys” goes even bigger with the addition of sparkling fireworks.
MagicBand+ builds another dimension of storytelling to “World of Color – ONE” and “Wondrous Journeys,” with dancing lights and vibrations synchronized to both spectaculars.
A new exhibit, The Disney Gallery Presents: Disney 100 Years of Wonder, will be on display at Disneyland Park. Inspired by Walt’s vision for Disneyland to be where his films come to life in the real world, the exhibit pays tribute to Disney films that became Disneyland Resort attractions, park experiences that later inspired Disney films and the rich traditions they both share. Guests will see artwork created by original Disney animators for some of Walt’s early films, alongside artwork concepted by original Disney Imagineers to recreate those stories in the park – in addition to an animator’s desk, a model of a multi-plane camera and more.
Disney100 offerings at The Happiest Place on Earth
Disneyland Park, Disney California Adventure Park, Downtown Disney District and the Hotels of the Disneyland Resort will be adorned in platinum-infused décor – including platinum statues and medallions scattered across the resort. Later in 2023, MagicBand+ will interact with and add more dazzle to select décor.
Walt Disney’s original Sleeping Beauty Castle will be dressed in elegant platinum banners and bunting, accented by a magnificent cabochon, two majestic water fountains in the surrounding moat and a wishing star shining on the tower above. At Disneyland Park, Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse and their pals will don new,sparkling outfits designed to reflect the optimism and creativity that are at the heart of everything Disney.
Guests can savor a century of magic through more than a dozen specialty food and beverage items, such as the platinum trifle and old-fashioned cream soda, and novelties like the Disney100 Mickey Mouse sipper and platinum Mickey Mouse balloon bucket.
Disney fans can also bring the magic home with commemorative Disney100 merchandise and collectibles released throughout the year, including the Disney100 Platinum Celebration Collection, special MagicBand+ designs,collectible medallions and pressed pennies.
The Disney100 celebration extends to the Downtown Disney District with platinum décor, fun photo opportunities and special menu items at select dining locations.
The “Magic Happens” parade makes its highly anticipated return to Disneyland Park on Feb. 24. Led by Mickey Mouse and his pals, the daytime spectacular celebrates moments of magic from Walt Disney Animation Studios and Pixar Animation Studios films as they are brought to life with grand-scale floats, artistic costumes and an energetic musical score.
Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway will be joined by additional new experiences and returning favorites when the reimagined Mickey’s Toontown reopens on March 8, 2023. The beloved land will feature more play activities and attractions than ever before, in addition to grassy play spaces for guests of all ages to unwind. Interactive play areas such as CenTOONial Park, Goofy’s How-To-Play Yard and Donald’s Duck Pond create more opportunities for families and young children to play together inside Disneyland Park, and guests will be able to enjoy classics like Mickey’s House, Minnie’s House and Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin once again.
In the spring, guests are invited to experience seasonal offerings and returning fan-favorite events at the Disneyland Resort. Disney California Adventure Park is ringing in the Year of the Rabbit with the Lunar New Year celebration through Feb. 15, and the Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival returns March 3 through April 25.
Alongside the Disney100 anniversary celebration, the Hotels of the Disneyland Resort will debut new developments later this year. Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel will become Pixar Place Hotel, which weaves the artistry of Pixar into a comfortable, contemporary setting. The Villas at Disneyland Hotel – a new, 344-room tower – will immerse guests in decades of animated classics through a blend of contemporary designs and timeless artworks inspired by Disney Legends.
