Disney Adds a Second Splash Mountain Pressed Penny Machine Due to Popularity. In the days leading up to the final ride on Walt Disney World’s version of Splash Mountain, we saw long lines for both a final drop and ride, also, we saw huge lines for the pressed penny machine. Fear that these machines would be gone when the ride closed was real.

The pressed penny machine inside Splashdown Photos sold 8 Pennies. Furthermore, you could get four more Pennies outside the queue of Splash Mountain, under the train platform. This machine had three Splash Mountain designs and one for Big Thunder Mountain. This machine has been returned, along with the machine prior to the restrooms.

There are now two Splash Mountain Pressed Penny machines for you to collect. There is no word how long these machines will be around, but with them returning, it appears Disney knows the demand is high right now.

Marvel Comics Celebrates Disney100 with Variant Covers Highlighting Mickey Mouse and More

Marvel Comics is honoring Disney’s 100th with a special monthly DISNEY100 VARIANT COVER PROGRAM featuring Mickey, Minnie, Donald Duck, Goofy, and more. Walt Disney Company is celebrating its 100 Year anniversary with special park offerings, expos and more.

Marvel’s variant cover program will celebrate Marvel’s past, present and future through the lens of “What-If” by reimagining some of its most famous cover art using iconic Disney characters. Iconic moments like the ‘Infinity Guantlet’, ‘Earth’s Mightiest Heroes’, and ‘New Avengers 1’ are but a few of the 12 redesigns planned by Marvel Comics.

Disney fans can look forward to a new variant cover each month (Also available in Black and White Versions) at their local comic book stores. The comics will also be available digitally in addition to retail locations across the U.S. Find your local comic book shop via The Comic Book Shop locator or download the Marvel Comics App for use on you personal devices. Digital Comics are available for IOS and select Andoid devices. The first available cover is Amazing Spider Man #17 which was available starting January 11.

Disney May Begin Selling Movies & Shows to Rival Platforms. Disney’s streaming division reportedly posted a $1.5 billion loss in the third quarter last year, which pushed the board to remove Chapek and bring Iger out of retirement in the hopes of righting the ship.

Now, prior to the February 8th earnings report word is spreading that Disney may be looking outside its own networks to air Walt Disney-owned intellectual property. This is not new to the Walt Disney Company if you can remember Disney Animation movies would show on the Starz networks for years prior to the creation of the Disney + streaming app.

Disney May Begin Selling Movies

Disney sources tell Bloomberg that “pressure to rein in streaming costs could result in the studio selling movies and shows to other companies.” Disney shows would use to show up on Netflix, This would be the first time shows made specifically for the Disney+ network could air elsewhere.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Construction Update from the Magic Kingdom. Might as well get used to these articles, as we will be doing a weekly report on some major changes happening at the new Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.

More new Tiana’s Foods Employee Owned Coming Soon! signs have appeared around the perimeter, along with new lighting fixtures. Let us take an image tour through some of the other changes.

Check out the return of the Splash Mountain pressed penny machine. This is the second pressed penny machine we have now seen in the area under the train prior to the bathrooms.

A lot of theming has been removed from the queue.

All the birdhouses are now gone from the tops of light poles.

Disney World Files Motion to Dismiss Annual Passholder Lawsuits

Disney is fighting back against a lawsuit that is in the courts by Palm Beach County resident Erica Kelly and Orange County resident Marilyn Paone who are suing them over the Disney World Reservation system specifically Disney changing the terms for Annual Passes.

According to Flordia Politics, “Changing the terms of their annual passes’ park access due to a pandemic, after expressly reserving the right to do so, is not plausible bad faith, injustice or an unfair business practice.”

The initial lawsuit by the Annual Passholders was filed back in October 2022 and states “Disney’s conduct is a predatory business practice, aimed at exploiting the customers who support it the most, its annual pass holders. Disney abused a global pandemic to take advantage of its own loyal customers and increase its revenue.”

The Annual Passholder Reservation still remains in place as Disney seeks to dismiss the lawsuit. According to Disney, “Kelly and Paone omitted from their complaint everything that Walt Disney Parks and Resorts did for annual pass holders during the transition to the reservation system — including, most notably, giving every pass holder the chance to opt-out and be refunded,” Disney said in court documents, noting the two women chose to continue on with their Annual Passes.

I guess we will have to wait and see if Disney is able to get the Annual Passholder Lawsuits Dismissed.

Onboard Ride Video for Tron Lightcycle Run Coming to the Magic Kingdom

A new coaster is about to open in Magic Kingdom! To help guests prepare, a ride video for Tron Lightcycle Run has been released.

TRON Lightcycle Run is finally opening on April 4, 2023. Disney shared a POV video of the attraction on their TikTok page.

TRON Lightcycle Run picks up from where “TRON: Legacy” left off, with Kevin’s son Sam Flynn having opened a second gateway into the digital world called the Grid. The first portal was established at Shanghai Disneyland with the original TRON Lightcycle Power Run.

Munchlings Almond Corn Cake Returns with Half a Portion That Costs More. Disney has returned a well-reviewed and liked sweet treat that came out during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween party. We wrote about how well we enjoyed the flavor and the texture, and truly enjoyed how much it looked like real corn.

The same flavor has returned for the next month and is available in the Hub next to Cinderella Castle. Again, we truly enjoy the flavors, the texture, and how much it looks like real corn, and now we can include the Donald Duck aspect of it.

Here is where things go off the rails a little bit and we are just bringing this to light for folks to see. The original Almond Sweet Corn Cake we reviewed cost $5.79 and looked like a full ear of corn with Candy Corn. Just about 7 inches of Almond Sweet Corn Cake. The new Munchlings Donald Duck version is literally half the size and costs almost $.50 cents more, and comes with a chocolate hat and bow.

These are the exact same cakes, just one is shorter than the other. We have written in the past about Disney wanting to change and do portion controls, but cutting something in half and then charging more seems like a bad decision. The issue is, Disney thinks we won’t notice these small changes, but when you have been planning a Walt Disney World vacation for months, all the nickels and dimes add up.

Is a Big Hero 6 Meet & Greet Coming to California Adventure

It looks like a Big Hero 6 meet and greet is coming to Disney California Adventure at the Disneyland Resort! Disney Auditions is looking for character look-alikes for the role of Hiro Hamada.

Disney Live Entertainment is excited to be seeking performers local to Southern California for the Character Look-Alike role, HIRO HAMADA. This role is based on the lead from Disney’s animated feature, Big Hero 6. Performers appear each day in character greetings before thousands of guests, signing autographs, posing for pictures, and helping to create magical moments with guests of all ages.

Seeking the following role:
HIRO HAMADA: 5’3″ – 5’5″, with a slender build, and youthful, outgoing personality. Typecast.

REQUIREMENTS:

Performers must be at least 18
Must be authorized to work in the United States
If employed, performers will be expected to adhere to Disney Look guidelines
The position requires standing, walking, and sitting for extended periods of time

The pay rate for this role in Anaheim, CA is $20.00 per hour.

This meet and greet would make sense as Pacific Wharf in Disney California Adventure is being reimagined as San Fransokyo from Big Hero 6. Disney also mentioned that there would be a place to meet Baymax when it shared the news about San Fransokyo coming to Disneyland.

Daisy Ridley Thinks a Return as Rey in Star Wars Would Be “Amazing”. Daisy Ridley is the star of an upcoming indie film called Sometimes I think About Dying. A quirky romantic drama that chronicles the lonely and routine existence of Ridley’s Fran until Dave Merheje’s Robert arrives in town and attempts to crack her shell.

But Ridley had this to say, when she spoke to The Hollywood Reporter, about the difference between being a galactic superhero and doing an indie film “The goal of any film — whether it’s made for $100,000 or $300 million — is to ultimately share something that speaks to people and tells a resonant story,” Ridley said. “So it obviously felt different because it’s sort of a smaller screening and what have you, but it’s still the same feeling.”

Ridley went on to say “I really don’t know if there are plans. I just don’t know,” Ridley says. “But ultimately, I loved my experience, I loved what I got to do and I love the people I got to work with. So, should that happen again, even once, amazing.” about a return to the Star Wars Franchise.
