Disney Vacation Club released new artist renderings of the European inspired, Disney designed Riviera Resort.
The Riviera Resort will be the 15th Disney Vacation Club resort on Disney property. It is slated to open sometime next fall, and we couldn’t be more excited! We are glad to finally get a glimpse of what it will be like.
The resort is inspired by Europe’s Mediterranean coastline, Walt Disney was enamored with during his trips to Europe. One of his most beloved trips to Europe was one that he took with his wife Lillian in 1935. His brother Roy and Roy’s wife Edna traveled with Walt and Lillian, and the trip served as a profound inspiration on Disney storytelling for decades afterward. The castles, villages, art and architecture in Europe found their way into Disney films long after Walt’s trip was only a memory.
Disney Riviera Resort will be located near Epcot and will connect with areas on the Walt Disney World property with a new skyway transportation system.Disney Skyliner, the all-new gondola transportation system was announced as well. The gondola system will give guests a whole new view of the Walt Disney World property, taking guests soaring through the skies the transportation will including the following resorts:
- Disney Riviera Resort
- Disney’s Art of Animation
- Pop Century
- Carribean Beach
with connections to:
- Hollywood Studios
- International Gateway at Epcot
The Disney Riviera Resort is estimated to open in Fall 2019 and will be the 15th Disney Vacation Property. Stay tuned to Chip & Co. for more details on this Disney Vacation Club Resort, and Disney Skyliner transportation system.
