Lawrence laments about how he lost the love of his life Ali Mills (Elisabeth Shue), to Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) after he moves to town and from Johnny’s perspective, seems to have a problem with him and his fellow Cobra Kai buddies after a rough first meeting. Lawrence continues to share that after LaRusso pulls a prank on Johnny during a Halloween school dance, that he and his friends from the dojo go to confront Daniel. When they did, Daniel’s sensai, Mr. Miyagi (Noriyuki “Pat” Morita), joined in the fight with Johnny and his pals and causes permanent brain damage to one of the Cobra Kai students while Miyagi is defending Daniel in the scuffle. Throughout the series, the two rivals go back and forth as Johnny tries to redeem himself, but finds it hard to let the decades long rivalry go.
