Stars Ralph Macchio and William Zabka Debate Over Who Was the Real Bad Guy of 'The Karate Kid'

Stars Ralph Macchio and William Zabka Debate Over Who Was the Real Bad Guy of ‘The Karate Kid’. As the Cobra Kai series stars gear up for season 3 and the shift from YouTube Red to Netflix, Ralph Macchio (Daniel LaRusso) and William Zabka (Johnny Lawrence) hosted a virtual and friendly debate over who the “real” bad guy is from the original film, The Karate Kid. In the spin-off series, we get to see a flip in the script and get a glimpse of Johnny’s side of the story on what happened during the events of the original film

In Cobra Kai, Johnny Lawrence reopens the Cobra Kai dojo and shares his story with student Miguel Diaz (Xolo Maridueña). Lawrence laments about how he lost the love of his life Ali Mills (Elisabeth Shue), to Daniel LaRusso after he moves to town and from Johnny’s perspective, seems to have a problem with him and his fellow Cobra Kai buddies after a rough first meeting. Lawrence even shares that after LaRusso pulls a prank on Johnny during a Halloween school dance, that he and his friends from the dojo go to confront Daniel. When they did, Daniel’s sensai, Mr. Miyagi (Noriyuki “Pat” Morita), joined in the fight with Johnny and his pals and causes permanent brain damage to one of the Cobra Kai students while Miyagi is defending Daniel in the scuffle. This is far from the perspective featured in the film, but has made the story more thought provoking and has fans truly wondering, “Who IS the bad guy in The Karate Kid? Is it Johnny? Or Daniel?”
