Marvel’s Werewolf by Night Review

Marvel Studios is getting into the Halloween spirit this year with ”Werewolf By Night.” The Marvel Studios Special Presentation is now streaming exclusively on Disney+.

The special is a tribute to the classic horror and brings monsters to the center stage. The special is filmed primarily in black and white, too. Inspired by horror films of the 1930s and 1940s, the chilling special aims to evoke a sense of dread and macabre, with plenty of suspense and scares along the way as we explore a new corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Marvel’s Werewolf by Night Review

Personally, I’m a lifelong fan of both Universal Monster movies and Marvel Comics, so I’ve been curious about this project while it was in development. The special leans heavily into the monster movies of yesteryear, creating the feeling of a scary throwback, but with a Marvel twist.

Overall, it’s a fascinating special! The characters are intriguing and creepy (but not too scary!) The decision to make it black and white is quite fitting as a tribute to classic monster films. We highly recommend this show and hope to see more specials like this one!

On a dark and somber night, a secret cabal of monster hunters emerge from the shadows and gather at the foreboding Bloodstone Temple following the death of their leader. In a strange and macabre memorial to the leader’s life, the attendees are thrust into a mysterious and deadly competition for a powerful relic-a hunt that will ultimately bring them face to face with a dangerous monster. Among them is Jack Russell aka Werewolf By Night (Gael García Bernal) and Ulysses’ estranged daughter Elsa (Laura Donnelly).

We are certainly eager to see more of these kind of stories since Marvel Comics have given us wonderful horror characters over the years! Seeing a story involving the supernatural side of the MCU is delightful this spooky season.
