A few days, news broke that Marvel is currently shopping a new TV package deal to Netflix, Amazon, and WGN, that would see the studio really upping their game on television. The package is said to include four new TV shows, and one new miniseries. Whoever buys in will have a sixty episode commitment, but at the moment it’s not known if it’s a sixty episode commitment per episode, or if it’ll be sixty episodes between the four new shows.
While we don’t know exactly what characters are involved in the package, speculation is running rampant that this may an a Marvel Knights series, featuring DareDevil, The Punisher, Luke Cage, and the Heroes for Hire, all of which would show the Marvel in a brand new light. While we’re used to seeing the more superhuman side, which we’d still get here, we’d get in on a smaller scale, involving mafias, drug dealers, and the darker underbelly of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I’m under the impression the shows will all be a build up to the eventual miniseries, much like ‘The Avengers’, which sees all the characters coming together against one foe. My money is on all the heroes coming up against The Kingpin, a formidable villain that could take all these characters to come together and bring down. I’m really hoping that ends up being the case, because it would make for a great series.
