Disney Considering Lupita Nyongo for Live-Action ‘The Princess and the Frog’
Rumors surfaced online that Disney is developing a live-action remake of The Princess and the Frog. Now there are continued rumors that Walt Disney is considering filling the role of Tiana with Academy Award winning actress Lupita Nyong’o.
Nyong’o is no stranger to working with Disney, and has portrayed “Nakia” in both Black Panther films and “Maz Kanata” in all three of Disney’s Star Wars sequels. Lupita Amondi Nyong’o is a Kenyan-Mexican actress, producer, and author who quickly rose to international prominence for her exceptional talent, inspiring performances, and dedication to social issues.

After completing her studies at the Yale School of Drama, Lupita made her feature film debut in 2013 with a groundbreaking role in “12 Years a Slave,” directed by Steve McQueen. Her portrayal of Patsey, a slave facing unimaginable hardships, earned her critical acclaim and numerous awards, including an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress, making her the first Kenyan and Mexican actress to win an Oscar.
Beyond her acting career, Lupita Nyong’o is an outspoken advocate for social and humanitarian causes. She has used her platform to address issues such as racial inequality, representation in the entertainment industry, and body positivity. Her powerful speeches and candid discussions have inspired many and sparked important conversations around these subjects.
While Nyong’o would be perfect for the role, there is no confirmation of her casting and we should consider this a rumor, albeit one we hope is based in truth.
