‘Loki’ Writer Michael Waldron Hired to Pen the Script for Kevin Feige’s ‘Star Wars’ Movie. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige is set to produce a new Star Wars film with Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy. Feige was offered the project after a meeting in early 2020 between Disney Studios chief, Alan Horn, Lucasfilm President, Kathleen Kennedy, and Marvel Studios President, Kevin Feige.
“We are excited about the projects Kathy and the Lucasfilm team are working on, not only in terms of Star Wars but also Indiana Jones and reaching into other parts of the company including Children of Blood and Bone with Emma Watts and Fox,” Horn said in a statement to THR. “With the close of the Skywalker Saga, Kathy is pursuing a new era in Star Wars storytelling, and knowing what a die-hard fan Kevin is, it made sense for these two extraordinary producers to work on a Star Warsfilm together.”
It was currently unknown how far in the creative stage the pair were for the untitled project, but this week it was announced that Marvel Studios ‘Loki‘ series writer and Emmy-winner Michael Waldron has been signed on to pen the script for the Feige and Kennedy led project.
Currently no release dates or production schedule has been released for the film as it is still in pre-production, though Waldron’s addition to the staff shows that there is a high chance the film will premiere within the next few years. It is still too early for any casting announcements, but both Chris Evans and Brie Larson have thrown their hats into the ring to star in the new Star Wars story. The studio has also not announced who will be directing the title, but we have a feeling the film may be directed by a director from The Mandalorian, which seems to be a trend of Lucasfilm at the moment.
