Living With the Land fans will note a new hydroponics system has been installed
At Walt Disney World’s EPCOT, the iconic attraction “Living With the Land” continues to evolve and showcase innovative agricultural practices. As visitors meander through the tranquil waters of the attraction, they are taken on an enlightening journey that explores sustainable farming methods and the future of food production. Recently, “Living With the Land” unveiled an exciting addition to its vertical growing section – an all new vertical hydroponics system.

As your boat enters the final greenhouse, you can now spot the new hydroponics equipment to the right. Unlike the familiar hanging vertical growing systems nearby, this new setup is placed on the ground. Nevertheless, it seamlessly blends in with the other hydroponics systems in “Living With the Land.” The system is a simple, yet elegant, white rectangle with open sides, allowing visitors to peer inside and marvel at the rows of thriving plants.
For those unfamiliar with hydroponics, the USDA describes the practice as the technique of growing plants using a water-based nutrient solution rather than soil, and can include an aggregate substrate, or growing media, such as vermiculite, coconut coir, or perlite. Hydroponic production systems are used by small farmers, hobbyists, and commercial enterprises.
An attraction that reveals the history of farming, Living With the Land allows guests to see how Walt Disney World horticulturalists use innovative growing techniques to help feed a growing planet. Guests can get a closer look at the plants (and fish) that call Living with the Land home via the Behind the Seeds Tour.
