Lead Actress Announced for ‘National Treasure’ Disney+ Live-Action Series. Lisette Alexis has been announced as the series lead for the highly anticipated Disney+ live-action series based on the hit film franchise, National Treasure. Filming for the upcoming National Treasure live-action series is set to begin in January 2022. Currently, the new Disney+ series has been ordered for 10-episodes, with the potential for multiple seasons to follow.
Alexis will be playing, “a DREAMer [named Jess Morales] in search of answers about her family–who embarks on the adventure of a lifetime to uncover the truth about the past and save a lost Pan-American treasure,” according to a report from Deadline.
Jerry Bruckheimer has returned to produce the National Treasure series with original franchise writing duo Marianne and Cormac Wibberley. Mira Nair (Queen of Katwe) is set to direct the pilot episode. Casting for the series has yet to be announced.
