Lawsuit Against Rosario Dawson Dismissed by the Court

Lawsuit Against Rosario Dawson Dismissed by the Court. Back in October 2019, Dedrek Finley filed a lawsuit alleging mistreatment and discrimination by Rosario Dawson and her family during employment for the family, allegedly involving physical assault and anti-trans insults including deliberate misgendering. This came as a shock to fans since Dawson has been a very open LGBTQ+ ally and supporter. Dawson never wavered in her stance that this was a baseless lawsuit and that a decades-long family friendship has ended as a result of the filing.

According to court documents from May 21st, the Los Angeles Superior Court fully dismissed the lawsuit after the Plaintiff (Dedrek Finley) repeatedly did not respond to court requests for documentation, answers to questions, or undergo an independent medical examination aimed at reinforcing his claims of mental and physical harm. The LASC Judge ultimately ruled “The court hereby dismisses the action.

Dawson took to social media to share the update along with the hope that she and her family will finally get to move forward, sharing: “My family is pleased that this baseless suit is over. While the vast majority of the false claims had been voluntarily withdrawn last year-including every single false claim of discrimination-the court has now terminated the remainder of the case allowing us all to move forward. (1/2)”

She continued in a follow-up tweet, “That these false claims came from someone we’ve known as chosen family for decades and who we were trying so hard to help out, as we have many times in the past, was very heartbreaking. Nevertheless, we have great empathy for him and have only ever wished him well. (2/2)”
