Report: Disney Planning Another Round of Layoffs for Late September
The Walt Disney Company is reportedly preparing another round of layoffs before September ends. According to entertainment journalist Matthew Belloni of Puck News, additional staff reductions are expected at the end of the month, although the cuts are said to be more limited than some of the larger restructuring rumors that have been circulating around the company.

Belloni reports that the upcoming reductions are expected to focus on human resources, product and technology, and other operations-related positions. The cuts are not believed to be part of the larger Disney television division consolidation that has been the subject of recent speculation.
Disney declined to comment on the report. This would mark another round of workforce reductions for Disney in 2026. Approximately 1,000 positions were eliminated in April, with cuts affecting marketing and branding teams along with other areas of the company. Another round followed in July, when several hundred employees were impacted across Pixar, ESPN, Disney Entertainment Television, National Geographic, and other parts of Disney’s studio and media businesses. In August, Disney also reportedly offered a limited early retirement package to certain executives at the director level and above as the company continued looking for ways to streamline its operations.

The latest report comes during a period of significant change across The Walt Disney Company, including leadership changes and an increased focus on technology and streaming. For Walt Disney World guests, these reported cuts appear to be centered on corporate and operational functions rather than the resort workforce. Disney recently announced plans to add 5,000 jobs in Central Florida over the next five years as Walt Disney World prepares for a major slate of new attractions and expansion projects.
