George Lucas Joins Writing and Production Team for Disney+ ‘Star Wars’ Series. Star Wars fans were elated to hear and see George Lucas make an appearance on set for The Mandalorian, and now it seems George has been invited to come back into the fold of the Star Wars Universe! According to IMDb, George Lucas will be penning the script for 2-episodes of the upcoming Star Wars Disney+ original series, Andor.

The new Andor series “Follows the adventures of Rebel spy Cassian Andor during the formative years of the Rebellion and prior to the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Diego Luna will reprise the role of Andor, which he originated in the 2016 film. The rousing spy thriller will explore tales filled with espionage and daring missions to restore hope to a galaxy in the grip of a ruthless Empire.”

Currently, the series is slated to include 12-episodes, with at least 2-episodes written by Lucas. The Andor Star Wars series is expected to premiere exclusively on Disney+ in 2022, an official release date has yet to be announced by Lucasfilm.
