Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover Goes Quiet as Carousel of Progress Reimagining Begins

With Walt Disney World’s beloved Carousel of Progress officially closed for its extensive reimagining, guests riding the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover will notice a subtle but meaningful change. The familiar narration that plays as the attraction glides past Carousel of Progress has now been muted.

Previously, the PeopleMover narrator would point out Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress as the ride traveled through the show building, highlighting the classic attraction as a showcase of technological progress and innovation. Now, as the theater undergoes its largest transformation in decades, that section of the narration has been removed entirely, with no replacement audio filling the silence.

The change comes just one day after guests said goodbye to the attraction’s longtime 1994 version on July 5. Disney has already begun work on the highly anticipated reimagining, which will dramatically shift the show’s timeline. Instead of beginning around the turn of the 20th century, the updated production will start in the 1960s, marking the most significant overhaul since the attraction first debuted at the 1964 New York World’s Fair.

For longtime Disney fans, the missing narration is a small reminder that Tomorrowland is entering a new chapter. While the PeopleMover itself continues to offer the same relaxing grand circle tour above Tomorrowland, passing by Carousel of Progress now comes with an unexpected moment of silence as Disney prepares to write the attraction’s next act.
