Disney and WWE have worked out a new deal that will allow Disney to stream WWE Network via Disney+ Hotstar in Indonesia. Though this may not seem important to the domestic market, this could set the precedence for more streaming deals in the future. Currently in the U.S., WWE Network content is available via NBCUniversal’s Peacock streaming service, but both Disney and WWE have reported that there are negotiations taking place regarding other territories.

The new deal means that subscribers with Disney+ Hotstar will get to stream live WWE events at no additional cost to their subscription. The WWE Network content streaming in Indonesia will be available in both Bahasa Indonesia and English. Disney+ Hotstar now accounts for 118.1 million global subscribers under the Disney+ banner, and more streaming deals are likely to help Disney reach their goal of reaching 300-350 million subscribers by 2024.
“As home of the best global and local language content, we’re excited to welcome the extensive library of content from WWE Network to the ever expanding slate of Disney+ Hotstar. With this new content on Disney+ Hotstar, we hope to expand our reach and engage even more audiences in Indonesia,” said Vineet Puri, General Manager, Indonesia, The Walt Disney Company of the new deal.

If Disney and WWE do work out an agreement for North America we would likely see the WWE content added to the Disney own and operated ESPN+ streaming service which hosts all the sporting content for Disney.
