Disney+ is Raising Subscription Costs Beginning this Spring. During the 2020 Walt Disney Company Investor Day event, Disney announced there would be a price hike for subscriptions “sometime in Spring 2021”. Now, the popular streaming service has announced the new price increase will be implemented after March 26, 2021.
The current cost of a Disney+ monthly subscription is $6.99/month, with an increase to $7.99/month after March 26th. It is currently unknown when the price hike willl apply to the Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ bundle, currently listed at $12.99/month. Likely we will see the same price difference added to the bundle price as well, making the cost of the bundle $13.99/month at a to be determined date.
Disney+ issued an email to active Disney+ subscribers stating:
“You are currently subscribed to Disney+. Beginning March 26, 2021, the price of a Disney+ subscription will increase from $6.99/mo. to $7.99/mo… You will see this new rate take affect on or after March 26h on your bill, unless you are on an eligible Verizon plan and on a promotion, in which case the new rate will only taker effect at the end of your promotional period or March 26th, whichever is later.“
As shared in the email, if you have an active subscription through Verizon or promotion, such as the 3-year buy-in option offered at the streaming services launch in 2019, the price change will not apply until the completion of said subscription or promotion.
