New Permit Filed for Carousel of Progress Reimagining at Magic Kingdom
Work is continuing on the major reimagining of Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress at Magic Kingdom, with a new permit pointing to additional electrical and audiovisual upgrades for the classic attraction.

Walt Disney Imagineering recently filed a permit listing Solotech as the contractor for electrical work. Solotech specializes in audiovisual technology, including lighting, sound, and show systems, making this another sign that work is moving deeper into the attraction’s technical upgrades. The permit is set to expire in one year.
Carousel of Progress is currently closed as Imagineering works on a major update to the attraction. The reimagined version is expected to shift the show’s timeline forward, focusing more heavily on the latter half of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century while continuing to follow the familiar family through changing technology and everyday life. Disney has previously brought in additional contractors for scenic construction as the project continues to take shape.

The attraction is currently expected to reopen in 2027, and with new permits continuing to surface, progress appears to be rolling right along.
