Disney’s Animal Kingdom is witnessing a special Mother’s Day for one of their gorillas. A baby gorilla, Grace, celebrated their first birthday this weekend. Even though the Disney Parks are temporarily closed, the animal care team at Disney’s Animal Kingdom still celebrated the baby gorilla’s birthday.
Baby Grace is a western lowland gorilla. She was born on May 1, 2019. Since she is currently residing at Walt Disney World, the place where magic happens daily, the animal care team threw a princess-themed birthday party.
You can watch the video of the baby gorilla’s birthday party below.
The Disney staff created a cardboard princess carriage with plastic horses for the gorillas to play with on Grace’s birthday. The birthday cake consisted of ice blocks filled with fruit such as berries and kiwis. The gorillas enjoyed their sweet treat!
Wildlife conservation is important to protect the Earth’s animal population and biodiversity. The team at Disney’s Animal Kingdom make terrific efforts in taking care of their resident wildlife. Seeing the gorillas enjoying themselves is a great treat to Disney guests. We look forward to seeing them in person on our next trip to the Disney theme park.
Be sure to look for Grace and the other gorillas on your next visit to Disney’s Animal Kingdom!
