Disney and Formula 1 Extend Partnership Through 2028 with Pixar’s Cars
Disney and Formula 1® have officially unveiled the next high-speed chapter of their global collaboration. Originally launched in 2025, the multi-year “Fuel the Magic” partnership is extending through 2028—adding a full new season beyond its initial scope—and expanding beyond Mickey & Friends for the first time to bring characters from Disney and Pixar’s Cars directly to the track.

The announcement was made at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, where attendees got an exclusive first look at the all-new Disney and Pixar Cars Collection with Formula 1® at the Disney Store booth, alongside the interactive Disney x Formula 1® Fuel the Magic Photo Experience.

The addition of Pixar’s Cars builds upon a foundational relationship that fuses Disney’s global storytelling with motorsport fandom through live events, original media content, and exclusive gear.
“Our mission with the F1 partnership is to bring Disney magic to fans in unexpected and creative ways, whether they’re watching at home, trackside or engaging on social,” said Joss Hastings, Senior Vice President of Marketing at Disney Consumer Products. “Building on the momentum established with Mickey & Friends, expanding our relationship to include Pixar’s Cars at Monza GP presents an exciting opportunity to ‘Fuel the Magic’ and bring together two fandom communities that share the same love of speed, spectacle, and heart.”
“The success of our partnership with Disney has demonstrated what’s possible when two globally loved brands come together around a shared vision for creativity, storytelling and fan engagement,” added Emily Prazer, Chief Commercial Officer at Formula 1®. “For many fans, Cars was an early introduction to the thrill of racing, making this collaboration a fun way to celebrate the enduring appeal of the sport through characters that generations have come to know and love.”
Key Moments in the Disney x Formula 1® Partnership
Since kicking off, the global initiative has delivered major cultural crossovers across iconic Grand Prix weekends:
- Formula 1® Las Vegas Grand Prix 2025: The partnership debuted with a spectacle at the Fountains of Bellagio presented by Disney Live Entertainment, an appearance by the Disneyland Band, and the inaugural Disney x F1® line.
- Formula 1® Chinese Grand Prix 2026: Expanded into digital storytelling with an original WEBTOON series, an F1® show car at Shanghai Disneyland Resort, and Fan Zone retail pop-ups featuring trackside merch.
- Formula 1® Grand Prix du Canada 2026: Partnered with F1® ACADEMY™ to spotlight Minnie Mouse and Daisy Duck in custom racing gear, inspiring the next generation of women in motorsport.
- Formula 1® British Grand Prix 2026: Teamed up with Make-A-Wish® to auction a unique Mickey Mouse-inspired helmet signed by all 20 current F1 drivers. The piece drew 199 bids across 12 countries, selling for a record-breaking £151,000 ($201,000 USD)—making it the highest-value charitable piece ever sold via F1® Authentics.
