Director Scott Derrickson Shares Video of Benedict Cumberbatch in NYC Comic Book Store Dressed as Doctor Strange. It’s rare that we get the chance to meet our favorite heroes and celebrities, but even more so to meet our favorite superhero celebrities in costume!
While filming the first Doctor Strange, director Scott Derrickson noticed they were filming in front of a comic book store in Manhattan and asked the films star, Benedict Cumberbatch if he would be willing to visit the store during some downtime between takes. Cumberbatch agreed with no hesitation and the pair made their way into the store to delight the staff and customers who happened to be visiting at the time. Marvel Fans may have heard the story, but this is the first time we get to see the original footage from the director himself!
Derrickson shared the video via Twitter along with he caption: “Never before shown moment. While shooting in Manhattan right in front of a comic book store, I spontaneously suggested to Benedict that he go inside and he agreed.”
We can only imagine how thrilled those fans were to see “Doctor Strange” right in front of them! Though it brought joy to Scott and Benedict, I am sure those fans will never forget that moment. What is your favorite story of fans getting to meet their heroes in costume? We would love to hear about them in the comments. Be sure to check back here at Chip and Co. for all things Marvel!
